The hotel staff were very attentive and the room was kept in immaculate order. The hotel restaurants were very good as well.

My husband, grown daughter and I had two rooms here for three nights in July 2009 and look forward to going back. We chose to stay outside the city center and found the location perfect for all of our day trips around western and southern Ireland. The food in the hotel was wonderful and we made the most of a huge breakfast each morning. We also enjoyed the meals we had in the bar which were delicious, reasonable in price and a comfortable location.

“Great Location near University of Limerick”

The Carlton Castletroy Park was a great choice for our stay in Limerick. We were there to visit our daughter who is currently studying abroad at the University of Limerick. Our room was comfortable and the location was perfectly situated to the school campus for our adventures in Ireland. The staff was always helpful and charming. The full Irish breakfasts (included in our daily rate) were terrific. I don't know what we could have changed.

The Hotel was well situated for the city center Limerick is not the easiest of places to find your way around and we found using the 15 minute local bus service the easiest way to get to the city center. The Hotel was very clean .The restaurant was not open Sunday, to Tuesday this is surprising for a 4 star Hotel. All Staff very welcoming. A most enjoyable stay Good location for touring local tourist spots

I can now say that I am a happy returning customer. You will get there value for your money. Rooms, bar, restaurant, conservatory all in line, helpful and friendly staff, not that pushy style expecting a huge tip for every fart, just the right kind of helpful. Very convenient if you have dealings with UL or the Technology Park, or just want to travel around Mid-West or the Shannon area. If you need to go downtown frequently it would not be feasible without renting a car.. and there would be more convenient locations in the city center, such as the Clarion..

“good spot close to the university”

We needed a place close to the University of Limerick as we were visiting our son who was studying there for the semester. Great spot, was right at the main entrance to the university, though it's a drive to the city center and not much to do in the immediate area. Bank and couple of restaurants close by. Nice breakfast. Room clean and comfortable. Staff very nice. Nice pool and well-equipped fitness center. Two bad things - blow dryer not very powerful and became hot to the touch, party going on Saturday night on the ground floor below us and we could hear the music until 2 am. Staff did apologize the next morning without me having to mention it.

I had been there for conferences before and I was rather happy (it is perfectly located if you need to deal with the university); although not really the four stars for at least a couple of years by now, the hotel is kind of OK. The staff is helpful and friendly. I actually prefer Kilmurry which is nearby, three stars only, but actually higher standard, and also higher price. I would not use Carlton Castletroy for their rack rates, but price value ratio is definitely good if you get an Expedia deal, as I did.. In the hotel restaurant, they tend to be slow, but again are friendly and have tasty Smithwicks (Irish red ale similar to Kilkenny). This Carlton would be almost perfect (price-value-ratio-wise) if not for the dump smell in the corridors (fortunately not in the rooms), it probably is the moisture coming from their swimming pool. The rooms are rather big, well equipped, internet working just fine, although the nightly renewal vouchers are kind of annoying if you stay there for six nights..
