“very nice room”
very nice room. however the food wasnt the best
“Beautiful hotel in a fairytale setting with breathtaking views”
This really is a lovely hotel on the mountain side above Oslo. There is a small railway station just down the hill with trains running every 15 minutes into Oslo. You will have to be fairly fit though to walk up and down to the station as the hill is very steep! Think we got our fair share of exercise for the week! The breakfast in the hotel (included in our package) is magnificent but, as with all of Oslo, the drinks and meals are extortionately expensive. The hotel staff are lovely - friendly and efficient, we had a fabulous stay.
“mooie omgeving holmenkollen hotel wel een endje lopen van af Tban”
vanaf de metro wel een end bergop lopen met je bagage maar de moeite waard.kwamen 14.45u aan maar mochten niet inchecken voor 15.00u beetje flauw, maar de service was verder goed, mooie kamer met geweldig uitzicht over Oslo. Goed verzorgd ontbijt het hotel was voor mij de moeite waard.
“Fantastic location”
The hotel was lovely! The rooms were really warm and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was quite good too, not much on offer for veggies (although this is normal in Norway!), but they did come up with something nice when asked. But the best feature of the hotel was its location. Situated on the mountainside, a little bit of a walk from the tube station, but still only 25 mins into the centre of town one way and only 20 mins to the top of the mountain for skiing etc. and beautiful walks the other. The scenery and views were absolutely stunning. I could have simply stayed in my room the entire trip and gazed out of the window quite happily!
“Good value”
Excellent value for money in August 2009, presumably because the adjacent ski-jump is being completely re-constructed for the Nordic championships in early 2011. The tube line from the City Centre is also being upgraded, so you have to get off the tube a couple of stops from the centre and continue by bus to Holmenkollen. These are minor inconveniences though. The hotel is in a spectacular setting (it's on the itinerary of many tour buses), and the facilities and service are satisfactory.
“Very nice hotel just outside of town”
Super location just outside the town center with easy access to town. Great rooms and restaurant.
“excellent stunning views”
Booked this hotel as had visited the ski center a few years ago. Views from hoyel are out of this world.( ask for fjord view). Buffet meal great value for Norway.Cost would only buy a pizza and a drink in town. Breakfast also great.
“Snowy paradise”
Fabulous gingerbread style hotel next to the famous ski jump. Comfortable, great service and excellent food. Breakfast highly recommended! If you don't need to be in central Oslo ( easily accessible by tram) this is a great place to stay on the snowy hilltop. Wonderful views and the astonishing ski slope right next door.
“Excellent!!”
I stayed here for one night after arriving at the airport and before heading into Fjord country. It was a little off the beaten path, and if I had needed to find my way from the airport via bus to this hotel I would have had some trouble. However, I drove and the GPS had no issues finding it. Once there, it is only a few hundred meters from a bus stop and a 20 minute ride into downtown Oslo. Bus tickets and Oslo city passes can be purchased from reception. The hotel is beautiful, overlooks Oslo, and is quiet. Parking is quite expensive per night, but they have a covered garage, as well as other free parking a few hundred meters down the hill, or so I was told. My room was comfortable, and for a European hotel it was quite large, but small by American standards. Functional furnishings (think IKEA stuff), but comfortable. I will definitely stay here again in Oslo. One note, if you are planning on staying in Oslo for a lot of city touring, you may be more convenient to stay in the downtown itself, but if you are only spending a day in the city, or just passing through and need a spot to spend a night before/after flying in/out, particularly if you have a car rental, I would highly recommend this hotel.
“Nice place to relax”
A lovely hotel that is set on a hill high above Oslo. Great views from the hotel lounge area. The girls at reception were most helpful providing local knowledge. The hotel supplied us with a packed breakfast one day when we left the hotel too early for breakfast. The hotel breakfast is splendid with a great choice. Make the most of it as it could last until tea and save on the expense of eating out in Oslo. Access to the hotel is via the T-bane (line 1) from Oslo Central station and takes 20 minutes to reach Holmenkollen. From there it is a 10 minute walk up a steep hill.
