Prima hotel

Net hotel, onlangs overgenomen door the Old Thorn. Daardoor volop in renovatie. Lekker eten in het restaurant. Fijne grote bedden. Nette badkamer. Prima ontbijt.

Upon check in, I requested a room in the ground floor because my companion is not able to go up the stairs and reception managed to move our room from 2nd floor to the ground floor. Thank you! The room was spacious, very clean and very modernly designed. Breakfast is a buffet with lots of choices and everything delicious. Restaurant dining experience was also great with a bar just next door. Haven’t checked the pool and spa which I missed. Staff are accommodating, friendly and hardworking. Very convenient with the wedding venue and reception only a minute away which was decorated amazingly beautiful. Overall, it’s a lovely place to stay and I highly recommend it.

It was booked for a birthday gateway, and it was a brilliant trip. The hotel had a cake and a sweet message waiting in the room. The room itself was beautiful, warm, clean, and spacious. The food options were nice, with plenty of varieties to pick from. Spa was great too. Highly recommended if you want a quiet gateway. Thank you

Very much enjoyed our two night stay at New Year. Nice restaurant with great breakfast. Very well organised New Year event which was good fun. Decent size pool with sauna and steam room, we didn't try out the other spa facilities though. The hotel itself is deep in the countryside so it's a 5 minute drive to Haslemere for other dining options. Some lovely walks around the hotel, there's a nearby farm with horses. Only negative is part of the car park has big potholes, could do with resurfacing.

Dålig service

Servicen överlag var inte bra. Dålig kommunikation mellan reception och restaurang. Första dagen av tre skulle receptionen tydligen meddelat restaurangen om att jag hade beställt och betalat frukost för två dagar. Detta gjorde att det blev mindre kaos vid frukosten när restaurangen inte fått information. Tredje dagen var jag tvungen att lämna tidigt pga tidigt flyg så därför var det inte aktuellt med frukost på hotellet. Rummet och badrummet var kallt och därför bad jag personalen i receptionen att se över temperaturen i rum och badrum. Detta blev inte gjort. En dag blev rummet varken städat eller iordningställt. Hotellet har potential att vara ett bra hotell där man gärna tar in men då måste servicen förbättras. För min del är detta hotell inte aktuellt i fortsättningen om servicen inte förbättras. Det ska inte behöva vara så mycket onödigt krångel.

Overall a great stay

We stayed for 3 nights in a Lodge suite, the room was new and clean, however some signs of neglect around the shower room floor and cobwebs in the skylight windows, but overall good condition throughout, very quiet due to the position of the bedroom, no immediate neighbours either side, which was amazing given we were travelling with a toddler and were probably a bit noisy very early in the morning. The hotel has been refurbished fairly recently. All staff was friendly, the breakfast was very good, we ordered room service on one of the nights and the food was alright but it was a bit unclear how/to whom you order, more clarity would help. The pool area was good, pool water temperature was warm, the spa was fully booked, so we didn’t try it but it seemed busy. Waitrose 4 min drive away, convenient for some shopping. Plenty of parking. Some little issues like our room was never added to the breakfast list, so we had to explain every day, the room service instructions as mentioned above and some cleaning issues, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed easily, overall I would stay again.
