We stayed at the hotel apartments, which we believed to be on the same grounds as the hotel. The 5-10 minute walk up a hill to reach our apts was unexpected. There are no elevators at the apt and we carried luggage up to the 4th floor, which was also unexpected. The room was large and comfortable enough for three people but the sofa couch was uncomfortable. The room was clean and we had a decent view of the water (the lower rooms do not have a view). The apt had a kitchenette but it was poorly stocked - it had a fridge, electric kettle, and some utensils and glasses but no coffeemaker or coffee.
The bathroom was roomy but the shower did not drain and you wind up standing in ankle deep water. Despite requests for this to be looked at, it’s unclear if anyone came. We also requested extra towels which never arrived. Instead, they placed the towels from the floor back on the towel hooks.
The front desk staff was very nice and did try to accommodate us by driving us to the apt in a car upon arrival and departure. However, while we saw other hotels send cars to the town center to pick up guests from the airport and dinner etc, Silvio does not provide this.
The highlight of our stay was the excellent restaurant. The staff were exceptionally nice and accommodating. And the food is very good. The absolute standout is the local fish with risotto. It’s a regional specialty and a must try. It was a true highlight of our entire stay in the Lake Como area.
