Parking is 54.00!!

I brought my special needs son to Boston for Christmas Eve. I didn't want to be home this year. Mom died in July. My other son, his wife and my grandchildren were out of the country. A night away, Blue Man Group and dinner in the city seemed like the perfect distraction. It certainly was. We were greeted at check in with warm smiles and warm chocolate chip cookies! The staff was lovely and accommodating. The room was cozy. The intimate restaurant had lots of windows overlooking bustling Washington St. The buffet brunch was plentiful, fresh and delicious.
I'm not a city girl. Before entering the hotel, we entered the empty parking lot and parked the car. A man approached and Insisted he had to valet park the car. ?!? He hovered while we removed our belongings and insisted on taking my key. Reluctantly, I handed it over. The next morning, my car was on the other side of the parking lot. At check out, we were charged more than half again the price of the room for the parking. There was no warning that the valet only parking lot is owned by others and preposterously expensive. Otherwise, our stay was ideal.
Thank you Double Tree Hilton.
