Voordelen: Location, view from the room and staff.
Nadelen: Room smelled a bit damp. That may be because of the height (not sure if it was fog or just low cloud!)
Previous reviews made this out to be the best choice if you wanted to stay in Enna itself. I think this is probably still true. The attached restaurant was busy with local diners, always a good sign. Overall it was value for money with a great view thrown in. We stayed before the season started so I can't comment on how the hotel handles tour bus trade. I imagine it might be a different experience when busy.

A warm and comforting reception

Voordelen: The owners and front-desk staff (perhaps the son), were very solicitous and helpful. The hotel is quiet and comfortable and well-located for walking.
Locatie: Enna's aerie perch at 931M makes for great views of the surrounding countryside, and it is architecturally and historically interesting.
GPS guided me faultlessly to the hotel from the Catania airport. It was dinner time, but most everything was closed for St Stephen's Day (the day after Christmas) so I settled for a panini at a lively local cafe.
I was the first guest to enter the hotel's breakfast room the next morning and the owners insisted that I sit down at the table with the best view. If not for the language difficulties, they would have welcomed some conversation. Breakfast featured yogurt, crusty rolls, pastries, juices and delicious, rich coffee.
My luggage did not arrive with my flight and the young fellow at the front desk made every effort to help. I do not speak Italian and his English was minimal so he employed a translator app on his smart phone to facilitate communication. He also called my next destination and explained the problem since I had given the airport both addresses.
I was very comfortable at this hotel and would stay there again.

Hotel on the very top of the hill

Voordelen: Great view on one of the central squares on main street and the city overall

Nadelen: Internet reception in some rooms could be improved
Locatie: We came to Enna primarily for the view from the Belvedere and the Castle and enjoyed it to the full
First thing that comes to mind after staying at this hotel is the "Grand Hotel Budapest" movie. I draw a lot of parallels in the establishment and staff. Grande Albergo was built a while ago and has a lot of the original infrastructure and decor.
Enna itself is the highest point of Sicily and this hotel is near the highest point of Enna - driving up from the foothill to the top takes over 15 mins.

Good Location
Geplaatst op 29 mei 2014We stayed here two nights to explore the region. Very high so good views and the Castle is worth a visit as is the exhibition within the walls.
The hotel was fine but rather busy with large groups or coach parties but they coped well.
Parking is limited but the staff on the desk were a great help.

Top Lage. Das Zentrum ist in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar.
Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, doch das interessante Ambiente (viel Jugendstil im Inneren), die zweckmäßige und voll ausreichende Ausstattung, das freundliche Personal und die Top-Aussicht vom Frühstücksraum aus sind eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung für das Hotel.

Excellent hotel to approach Piazza Armelina
Geplaatst op 1 sep. 2011Actually we stay there for the purpose of visiting Piazza Armelina's old Roman cassele. Hotel was very good, and convenient as located in the city center. Front desk people were kind, provding us with a good city/Sicily area map. A nice open terrace cafeteria for having a breakfast. Air conditoner in the room was a bit noisy, making a gusty wind, but not so effective in cooling down the room.

For us the faded decor only added to the charm of the Grande Albergo. Staff were unfailingly helpful and courteous, breakfast on the terrace was lovely, and our room had a gorgeous view of Enna's jumble of roof tiles with the countryside in the distance. We were only sorry we couldn't stay another night to see Carmen performed in the castle grounds.

Convenient, friendly but dated
Geplaatst op 19 jun. 2011It is not hard to beleive that this Albergho is probably the best bet in Enna, but when bus loads of tourists descent into town it must get pretty hectic there. Though clearly dated the premises are kept in quite good condition. Breakfast is OK. Front desk staff are quite helpful.
