This is the worst WESTIN Hotel we have ever stayed in. The property is Old and badly in need of a total renovation.

Horrible experience for such an expensive hotel. We spent just one night but the worst was that there was no air conditioning at all in the whole building the whole night!!!! The room windows were somehow locked, the temperature inside the room reached 82 degrees and the humidity was unbearable. When we complained during check out the lady at the counter just said OK all I can do is not to charge you for the resort fee ($42 plus tax), but now I got their invoice by e-mail showing they did charge me for that "resort fee". Never stay there, you're going to be very disappointed!

Resort fees should be added to the initial price and not added on at check out for surprise fees at the end.

Check in was quick, adequately staffed with very professional people. The hotel's location was excellent as was a sense of security. It's wasn't Spring Break so I think considerably quieter than it could be. The staff at the Lavazza coffee kiosk were tops. The Mexican restaurant on the first floor was excellent (make reservations for outside seating). Atmosphere was excellent. Now for the bad. It was my wife and I's anniversary and my wife wanted an ocean view room. I made reservations for two queen beds (I'm an active sleeper and I snore.) and ocean view. Hotel management tried to do something special by giving us a suite, king size bed, and intercoastal waterway view. Totally unsatisfactory! We were able to get things changed to what we wanted to begin with (Thank you, Anna!!). No suite but my wife had her ocean view which was critical. The room was excellent except the louvered bathroom door. Any noise or light bleeds into the room. Wife didn't care for that but dealt with it. Room was kept clean by commendable service staff. The smoking area meant banishment to the parking garage but all of Ft. Lauderdale is anti-tobacco, cigarette or cigar. Check out was quick and easy. Parking fee ($55/day) seems excessive but there is no or next to no parking close in the area. This is something someone could better plan.

People were nice, food was good, but ac didnt work the last night we were there and our baby slept horribly.

We had an excellent stay, and loved almost every aspect of the hotel. The location is perfect, as we could walk to many restaurants and stores.The only thing we'd do different would be to buy our own spirits and mixers, and just bring a cup down from the room. The $15 cocktails were a bit pricey for their quality, but that is "tourist trap" nitpicking. The food at Lona was exceptional. Get up early to reserve chairs poolside to guarantee a spot. The steak tacos were delicious. We will be returning.
