The property was fantastic - a wonderfully laid out bungalow with adequate living space and kitchen, and screen porches off the living room and master bedroom. The surroundings are the most wonderful combination of big pines and Spanish Moss - almost jungle-like. The issues that we had with the property were check in, hot water, and house supplies. Taken in order:
Our pick-up package was supposed to have keys in it and it did not. We were not able to get anyone to respond to us until after two hours, so we really did not know whether we had a place to stay after drivng 1,100 miles to get there and arriving near dusk. The people who helped were confused - sent us to two lock boxes that had no keys in them. We finally met someone who had keys and did not get into the place until 3 hours after we arrived!
No hot water, and no one to call! We arrived to no hot water, and the number on the hot water heater was a weekday number with no emergency number. We ended up downloading the user manual for the hot water heater, and finding a concealed reset button behind a screwed-on panel. The directions said that the reset can be tripped due to scalding hoy water, which seemed to be the case once it came up to temperature.
No supplies - basic things like coffee filters, salt and pepper, sugar, vegetable oil, adequate dishwasher and washing machine pods (there were two of each for a week's stay), plastic wrap, baggies, etc. This means that you have to go out and provision the place for the basics. We have never stayed in a rental that had so little provisions, and it was really disheartening to have to go out and buy all these things and then leave behind because of course we have them at home.
The location was a 10 but the management company Vacasa was a 0, so we give the place a 2/5 for our stay. One would be better off renting from an owner rather than a management company as the responsibility is direct. The keys should have been in our package, the hot water should have been checked by cleaning staff, and the necessities for our stay should have been there.
Hope you have a better experience, which is certainly possible.
