Capatin Pips Tree Tops apartment
Geplaatst op 28 mei 2019 op HotelsThe apartment was very spacious, clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, and a great shower. The beach towels and cooler are a nice plus! It is not a modern place, but it is exactly as portrayed on the pictures: a combination of old school Florida with contemporary comfort. The pool is not big, but big enough to cool down during a hot day.
The “biggest” downside was that we had some trouble finding the place after a long drive. I hope that after the renovations it is easier to spot where you are able to check in. Check-in went quickly, which was nice, but again the directions to our apartment were not very clear. Maybe it is a good idea to place a sign or something for first timers :)
All in all a lovely place to stay at when visiting Marathon.

Het verblijf is net. Er zijn voldoende handdoeken en er is zelfs een frigobox aanwezig. Er is wifi, maar deze werkt traag.

We stayed in the Treetops apartment for three nights. The unit although quite dated was charming and clean. The bathroom in the apartment is small but clean and bright. The shower stall was nice & spacious with consistent pressure and hot flow. The apartment is cooled by two split air conditioning units, one of each in the front room and in the single queen bedroom. The unit in the living room was operating quietly but the unit in the bedroom rattled loudly and was promptly reported, but unfortunately it couldn't be fixed the first night (a Sunday). We didn't sleep well that first night: too cool in the front and too warm in the bedroom. Staff was great and had the AC unit professionally fixed by noon on the 2nd day. But then a neighbour moved into the adjacent room and it became apparent that the door between the individual units is a huge problem. I could literally hear my neighbour scratch himself through the door! It's that bad. Fortunately, both parties staying in the adjacent space were very respectful and did their best to be quiet. An upcoming renovation will address the door problem according to the staff. I want to add that we got a nice call from the office informing us that the apartment was ready and that we could check in over 2 hours early! Kudos for that! Lots of restaurants in walking and driving distance from the property, BTW. Aside from the minor noise, we had a really nice stay at Captain Pip's.

This is a very well-run Keys resort property. The staff is great, the place is laid back, Porky’s for breakfast is right next door, and there is a Starbucks attached to the property. The docks, pool, and parking are all convenient, as are a multitude of good restaurants. This was a chill couple of days for us on our 3 week Florida vacation, and we throughly enjoyed it. And bonus, they are renovating (gutting) some rooms, so next season, it should be even better.
