I just came back from Luanda on a 4 days business trip. Prior to the travel, I spent hours researching on the internet about hotels in Luanda and the most common names were Talatona, Tropico another one I can't remember the name right now. Basically I'd chosen Talatona because here in Expedia it is considered good, although many people showed some concern. And I can't agree more. The Hotel facilities is very good and the people are very friendly. Room is clean and confortable, so really not much to complain about physical disposition. Now, problems? Ok, 1st) TOO FAR FROM CITY CENTER, where all the business are; 2nd) NO WI-FI INTERNET, excuse me, but this is a 5 star hotels, so no more comments on this; 3rd) INTERNET CONNECTION (WIRED) SHALL BE PAID US$25.00/DAY, and don't think it is a good connection, it is REALLY SLOW. In the end, the stay, with internet, end up being US$500.00/night, not considering daily transport much needed to the city center. Now that I know the city a little bit, if you're going to Luanda for business, look for Tropico and Avalade Hotels. They look good (both 4*) in the outside and are very well positioned. You can even walk through those (daily) extremelly congestioned street, so you will save on your transport budget. Talatona is the most expensive Hotel in the city, but you certainly have other good options in a much more convinient location.
