We hadden Een kamer in het guesthouse geboekt om zo ons eigen potje te kunnen koken ‘s avonds. We kregen een update: hotelkamer, heel mooi, maar geen kookgelegenheid. Het inbegrepen ontbijt was superlekker, vooral de tonijnsalade was mmmm. Een echte aanrader.

Service en ontbijt heel goed, staat kamer slecht.
Het guesthouse viel erg tegen. Er zat schimmel in alle hoeken van de kamer en rondom het raam. We zaten naast de ingang en de deur naar de entree was heel lawaaierig. We zijn naar de receptie gegaan en gelukkig was de mevrouw achter de balie ontzettend aardig. We hadden geluk dat er nog een kamer vrij was in het hotel. Moesten wel bijbetalen. Maar de kamer was heerlijk groot. Ook het ontbijt was geweldig. Als ik alle recensies lees over gratis upgrade, vind ik dat we deze ook hadden moeten krijgen, gezien de staat van de kamer in het guesthouse.

We kregen een gratis upgrade naar het hotel. Dat was erg mooi en goed geregeld. Ze betaalden zelfs de taxi naar de luchthaven. Goed geregeld, heel tevreden

Kregen een upgrade naar Keflavik hotel toen we bij receptie wilden inchecken voor het guesthouse. Mooie kamer van alle gemakken voorzien (oa. nespresso apparaat). Heerlijk ontbijt (vanaf 05.00 uur beschikbaar). Gratis parkeren.

Bij aankomst lag de was nog in de douche en waren de bedden niet opgemaakt. In de tuin bij de guesthouse was een groep heren luidruchtig bier aan het drinken waarbij de geluidsinstallatie zo nu en dan flink werd opengedraaid. Dat ging zo door tot in ieder geval 23.15. Toen ben ik naar het hotel aan de overzijde gegaan om mijn beklag te doen. Als oplossing hebben we een kamer gekregen in het hotel om rustig de nacht door te kunnen brengen.

good: -close to the airport -facilities of the hotel across the street (internet, good breakfast) -kitchen for cooking by yourself -affordable thai restaurant nearby Bad: -outdated rooms -one power socket per room on the ceiling, and it's for the TV -noisy: There was a family of 3 staying (living?) there with a 2 year old child. lots of noise from the family's TV and crying child. Also in the middle of the night. Certainly not a place to relax but might be good if you have an early flight from Keflavik airport the next morning.

I don’t have any complaints - staff were great, breakfast buffet was awesome. Room was clean as was the shared washrooms. It was less then a 10min walk to various restaurants, pubs and stores. Definitely worth considering when traveling to Keflavik.

Keine Sauna und schlaflose Nacht
Wir hatten extra dieses Hotel für den letzten Tag vor Abreise gebucht, da es angeblich einen Sauna, Fitness und Spabereich hat. Leider wurde uns erst bei Ankunft mitgeteilt, dass sich dieser gerade im Umbau befindet und nicht nutzbar ist. Für diesen Umstand hat man uns 2 Gutscheine für einen Cocktail gegeben. Das Guesthouse ist zwar klein und fein und auch sauber, allerdings sehr hellhörig und wenn man dann noch so rücksichtslose Zimmernachbarn hat, wie wir das hatten, ist das schlafen fast unmöglich.

Arrived to the Keflavik Airport around 12:30 at night, took about an hour to hail a taxi and got to Guesthouse around 2 am. Check-in is at the front desk of the hotel across the street, which was very simple. You go up some steps, open a door, and you are greeted with a hallway with around 10 rooms, 2 bathrooms on the left side that are shared between all the rooms. The room itself is practically a shoebox. It was clean, looked nice, and the bathroom worked as it should. However, the only reason I booked this hotel was because I saw that it had a sauna, and since I only had one night in Iceland and wanted to recover after a late journey, I was really looking forward to it. Finding out that it's in service and has been for a while at the front desk was pretty irritating. Not typically a karen, but when that's pretty much the main reason I selected a place and there was no note anywhere that the sauna is out of service currently, it's very aggravating. Other than that, breakfast at the hotel across the street (came with the room) was incredible - so much variety, lots of healthy options, coffee machine with multiple delicious tasting grounds. If you can afford it, Guesthouse is a good option. But be aware - the room is TINY. Even a single hostel bedroom is larger, and those go for half the price.

The breakfast was amazing. We ate during a pretty big earthquake and nothing fell down and we felt safe and the breakfast was delicious. I liked that it wasnt too expensive to travel by taxi to the airport. We walked to the public pool with hot tubs and the Giantess cave. Super clean.

I arrived at 1:00 am for late check in. Per Expedia check in instructions, check in was to be done from front desk staff at Hotel Keflavik. When I went to front desk, no staff present as she had joined wedding party. When we tried to check in, we were informed that Expedia had overbooked our room. We were not able to check in and there were no rooms available. We were told to look for another hotel at that time under the rain with an early morning flight. Most hotels in the area were sold out. We ended up staying at another hotel paying $200 Night for only 5 hours. Worst experience traveling in Keflavik, Iceland.

Disappointing value for money
Even by Icelandic standards, 188GBP for a family room with shared bathroom and four bunk beds (it looks a little bit like a prison cell) is, I think, poor value for money. There are places in the world where you would pay that much for an average hotel room- Paris, London, Dubai, Singapore- but even there, you would expect an en-suite bathroom for this price. We were disappointed.

Need more bathrooms and shuttle service
This guesthouse is well situated close to the airport but they do not offer shuttle service. There are only two bathrooms for six rooms or so, so if they are both taken, you've just got to wait. Not ideal if you're in a hurry to get to the airport. The breakfast was nice but nothing extravagant. I'd recommend staying at one of the many hotels in Keflavik with shuttle service and a private bathroom. There are plenty in the same price range once you factor in the $30 taxi you will have to spend to get to your flight.

We actually stayed at the hotel across the street for an unknown reason. Not sure if they are owned by the same owner but the experience was nice. Breakfast was included and it was the biggest and most comprehensive breakfast I have ever seen worldwide. I personally have visited 131+ countries so that's saying something about their breakfast. Hotel is renovating and we stayed in the older portion but it was just fine. Fireworks extravaganza for the New Years end celebration was just outside of the hotel. Happy New Year!

Très belle hotel
Nous avons été surclasser à notre grande surprise. L'hôtel est en rénovation mais aucun bruit. Le petit déjeuner est copieux. Les pâtisseries changent tous les jours. Le personnel est souriant et agréable.
