Mountain Shadow Lodge South is a beautiful home that has all the activities you need to enjoy your vacation. It is situated directly at the mouth of Green Canyon, one of the premier National Forest access points, and just minutes from North Beach. Furnished to comfortably sleep 36 in beds, this home is designed for large family groups and is highly desirable for families with multiple couples. Memories with family and friends will be made in our home that will be remembered for years to come. With our indoor sports court with a climbing wall, pickle-ball court and basketball hours of fun will be had by all unless you want to relax watching your favorite movies in our sunken theater room. We had a blast. The theater room and garage/gym were our favorite places, and the large kitchen made preparing meals for and feeding our group of 25 fun, too. We all said we would go back there again.

My stay at the Mtn Shadow Lodge South was so close to being great - the house is beautiful and in a great location. But there was one fatal issue at the location - that I would never stay here again and never recommend it to anyone. It caused major headaches for our group (33 in our group) and led to a hospital stay and some of the group leaving early. There were 6 beds that were missing a majority of the support slats. This causes the mattress to sink into the gaps. This caused major issues in trying to get young children and families assigned to certain beds/rooms without slats (as a heavier adult caused the mattress to sink worse). My 5 year old ended up sleeping on a horrible bed/top bunk - and due to its extreme sag, tried to get up at 1 AM and fell off the bunk bed leading to a broken collar bone and hospital stay. We finally decided to just remove the mattresses from the bed frames and place them on the floor in the theater room. This creates some awkward times when mixing different families in same room and especially a theater room. After the 2nd night of complete frustration and little sleep, we had one family decide to pack up and head home a day early, after the 3rd night, another family decided to leave early. Staff was notified within 1.5 hours of our arrival of the issue. 24 hours later, staff came on-site to inspect the issue and each bed was looked at - but not fixed. 24 hours after that, staff came to fix the situation but only fixed one bed......

While the property is very beautiful, the communication with and service provided by the management company is severely lacking. The check-in time is 4:00 PM and we were not given any check-in information, including the door code until 4:58 PM. The outside trash container was overflowing and we asked when that would be emptied as we had a large group and wondered where our trash would be able to go. They said it would be emptied within minutes, but that took more than 24 hours. There is no "Welcome Book" or any other information provided in the property with the wifi login and password and other pertinent information. When we called the management company for this info, they seemed very annoyed and it actually took about 2 hours and many phone calls to get the wifi login and password. The propane tank on the back patio was empty when we arrived, so we had to take the propane tank out of the firepit to cook our dinner. When we called the management the next morning to get it filled, they said someone would be there within 10 minutes, which didn't happen. They showed up much later that evening, after many calls and texts and after one of our party had already left with the propane tanks to get them filled at our expense so that we could use the grill the 2nd night. Our 3 night stay included a host fee of over $1,000, which was definitely not earned.

This is a beautiful property! We had plenty of room for everyone to spread out and be comfortable. We had so much fun playing pickleball in the gym and the kids loved being able to run and play in there without being shushed. It was wonderful sitting on the patio around the fire in the evening to chat and listen to the waterfall. The hosts were great at communicating and responding to messages. We would absolutely recommend this property!

The place is amazing, great location, beautiful home. Open concept to let a bunch of people in the home and not full crowded. New home so it has its quarks, but the property managers were good to work with.
