Description

This tour picks you up from Dublin at 6:45 am. It then takes you to some of Northern Ireland's most memorable Game of Thrones® filming locations. Stop by the Dark Hedges, where you'll have around 15 minutes to stroll beneath the dramatic arched trees, snap photos of the natural wonder, and hear from your guide why it was chosen for the scene of Arya's nail-biting escape from King's Landing.

As we drive from the Dark Hedges to our next location, we follow the Antrim Coastal Drive. Enjoy the spectacular scenery including stony shores, densely wooded glens and the village of Bushmills, which is best associated with Bushmills whisky.

The tour then continues along the Antrim Coast to the Giant's Causeway, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend around 1.5 hours admiring the spectacular landscapes, made up of some 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. The “stepping stones” leading from the cliff foot disappear under the sea. They reappear in the Island of Straffe in Scotland, hence the legend that this was a road built by the Irish giant Finn McCool to enable him to cross over to Scotland. Truly an amazing wonder of the world!

We then continue on to the picturesque coastal village at Ballintoy Harbour, where you'll have around 40 minutes of free time. Hear how Ballintoy Harbour served as the location for Theon Greyjoy's return to the Iron Islands, as well as scenes, such as Theon's baptism, Euron's crowning, and the burial of Balon Greyjoy.

Passengers also get a chance to visit Larrybane Quarry. This is where King Renly set up a camp during The Stormlands in season 2. It is also where the yournament was held in which Brienne of Tarth was introduced.

In Belfast you'll have around 45 minutes of free time to admire the city sights, stretch your legs, or grab some snacks. Your tour ends back in central Dublin around 7:30pm/ 8:30pm.

*This tour is independently operated and is not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with HBO®or anyone associated with Game of Thrones®. Please note that all times are approximate. The locations might be visited in a different order.*

Niel & Mike were our tour guide and driver and they were awesome! The majority of the tour is spent outside of the bus rather than inside the bus, which made it much more interactive and fun. It was amazing seeing the different places that were locations for filming for Game of Thrones, but Niel made it much more interesting. If you’re lucky enough to get him as a tour guide, then you’ll experience some music and have an amazing time. I highly recommend!

I enjoyed this excursion wit Finn McCools Tours, Daniel the guide was very knowledgeable and helpful even serenaded us with a couple of his favorite Irish tunes. the driver Sylvester got us where we needed to be in very good time. it was a beautiful day so that made it even better. warning: this is a long day so be prepared to spend a lot of time travelling but that should be expected if you are staying in Dublin. the Causeway is amazing but wish they had sections roped off, people can be very careless with nature when they are trying to get that selfie and don't really respect nature or others when doing it. The Dark hedges portion of the excursion was nice scenery, far removed from everything so a long ride to get there and again people everywhere crawling around. The Game of Thrones travelling exhibit (closing soon) was cool , I wish we could have seen the set next door but maybe soon. Overall, long day but worth it.

Bus could have used wifi, Many passengers' batteries drained down looking for service, but the guide's charming personnality more than made up for this one little drawback. Niall talked just the right amount. He gave us great information and de really got to see interesting sights. The Giant's Causeway is an awe-inspiring sight. The Dark Hedges are hauntingly beautiful. The GOT exhibition could have used more information about the making of and a little less about the story of...(one can assume you know these characters, I think...) It was cool to see Belfast.
