We prepaid for a room with two beds and got two very small rooms next to each other on the top floor. Very uncomfortable for three tall people, had to hunch over and no room whatsoever in the shower. We checked in and left within 10-15 miles minutes.

The staff wasn’t too friendly and nice at check-in. The room in the TV didn’t work and they were all rooms available for me to change into… the walls were very thin, so you could hear everything with your neighbour. The smoke alarms constantly kept going off during the night as people are smoking in their rooms.

Je me souviens que le jour de votre arrivée, comme nous n'étions pas informés qu'il y avait un bébé, nous avons du revoir l'attribution des chambres afin qu'elle soit plus spacieuse pour que vous puissiez garder la poussette. Cela a pris un peu de temps mais la réceptionniste n'a en aucun cas été désagréable: je suis désolée que vous ayez eu ce ressenti. Le problème de la TV est intervenue le 2ème jour; c'était à la base un problème général mais par la suite, malgré diverses tentatives, nous n'avons pas pu rétablir votre TV et nous nous en excusons. Comme nous étions complets, nous n'avons effectivement pas pu vous changer de chambre.Nous regrettons l'incident de l'alarme en pleine nuit. Certaines personnes ont l'indélicatesse de fumer dans les chambres alors que nous sommes un hôtel non fumeur. Mais vous savez de quoi je parle puisque vous avez fait la même chose dans votre chambre.J'espère que votre expérience chez nous ne privera pas le réseau Best Western de votre fidélitéRestant à votre écoutecordiales salutations

I am fully aware that the first night spent was very unpleasant and we apologized for it by changing your room (it was obvious) and offering you breakfast. When you came back a few days later, I again offered you the 3 breakfasts a day for 3 days and had the breakfast buffet prepared earlier on your departure day so you could have it.What happened to you on the 1st night is unfortunately not foreseeable and we immediately condemned the room for treatment.I nevertheless hope that you enjoyed your stay in France.

Disappointing Customer Service
In general the hotel is very good, location is great to walk everywhere, decoration is super nice, breakfast was good. Rooms are small but it is what you expect in Paris. The low rating is because we had bad luck and were allocated a room without a working Air Conditioner. We reported it to the reception on a Friday evening when we arrived and we were told there was nothing to do because of the time (9pm) but the next day a technician will come and fix it. We understood and agreed to spend the night without AC. On Saturday morning we reminded the new receptionist who didnt know anything about it (no handover of issues). Saturday night after a long hot day walking the city, no AC fixed and when we complained they said no one would come during the weekend to fix that so we could have a fan if we wanted. I was really annoyed that they weren't honest from the beginning so we stayed until Monday without AC on a 28 degrees/68% humidity nights inside a room without AC and windows facing to a load restaurant's terraces. No apologise/compensation from anyone even though we saw different staff everyday. Total disregard to our needs and complains. As I said the hotel is good but the management is terrible, no customer focused at all. After having the receptionist yelling at me on Saturday night in the lobby in front of other guests because we contacted Hotels.com to complain, we decided to leave it and dont let them ruin our trip to Paris. Disappointing experience.

Dear Madam, First of all, I would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the air-conditioning malfunction and also for the misunderstanding. However, although there was this miscommunication, I cannot allow you to imply that the management is terrible and not customer focused, this is exaggerated and illegitimate! We have repeatedly proposed solutions to satisfy you: - On Friday evening, a fan which you refused - On Saturday at 1pm, we offered to change your room immediately so that you could have air conditioning. You did not accept and chose to think about it despite our warning that it would be too late to make the request later as our hotel would be fully booked. - In the evening you asked for the room, unfortunately we were at a loss, and we offered you a fan, again you refused. The attitude you describe can in no way describe that of one of my receptionists, in whom I have complete confidence and who are always kind and understanding. We admit the mistake of not having passed on the information on Saturday morning and we apologise for it, however, we remain professionals, human beings and we sincerely did everything to satisfy you on the spot. Property is very clean, staff was very nice and helpful, room was clean, fresh and updated. Located close walk to 2 metro stations, and multiple bus stops. Close to restaurants and bars. The internet was sketchy, and very slow and our air conditioning was not functioning as expected

However, in your case, your comment is very severe, even unfair, because it mentions only one negative point: our location. This is the only element that we cannot change, and it is a criterion that you were aware of when you made your reservation, because our address is clearly indicated on the platform. The 10th arrondissement is not part of the tourist districts per se, but has a recognised historic architecture and many neighbourhood theatres. Moreover, it is possible to reach Châtelet, the Place de la République, the Marais and the Grands Boulevards in 15 minutes on foot. Not forgetting the nearby metro which allows you to quickly reach all the points of interest of the capital. I hope you still enjoyed your stay in Paris. Clean hotel rooms, metro is close by with connections on central lines (4, 9, Strausberg-St Denis station), Paris-sized rooms. Based on previous visits, for the price, I felt it could have been better, location-wise and room/amenities-wise. Perhaps Paris is just getting more expensive. Despite proximity to busy street, we could not hear street noise or traffic, but there is definitely transfer of noise between floors and between rooms. Nespresso machine and tea bags, with 1 bottle of water in room just for the first night. Be aware that location is very close to an interesting neighborhood area. Getting off the Chateau de L'eau station in the evening, the neighborhood was alive with action - predominantly African hair salons and shops busy with customers, impromptu sidewalk vendors selling shoes and various wares, loud exclamations, music, and native African languages being spoken everywhere. We did not feel unsafe walking to the hotel, just a bit out of place. It is also apparently one of the last street-walker areas in Paris, but I personally did not see any. Walking a few blocks fro the hotel in any direction brings you into classically "Parisian" architecture and shops.

You were able to discover all the facets of the capital and rest in a comfortable room after a day strolling through its typical streets. The change of scenery that can be felt in Paris as you move from one district to another would undoubtedly have been a source of inspiration for Arthur Rimbaud, the French poet who was passionate about travel and used to frequent the Gare de l'Est district. Concerning your remark on the price, I do not know your elements of comparison, however our rates correspond to our level of service, that is, a hotel renovated at the beginning of the year, its original literary theme, qualified staff, the proximity of the metro, the fitness room, etc.. I walked from Gare du Nord which is around a 15 minute walk, but I wouldn't advise it at night. Really grubby intimidating area, even for a big guy like me. The elevator has room for one person. The room itself was tiny. I'm 6,2 and my head touched the ceiling. I had a show over bath, but had to shower kneeling because with the extra height of the bath I couldn't stand up!

Location seemed a little bit unsafe at first, and tough to find, but one block south starting at St Denis St it gets very nice. So location is good, room is very small, but that was expected staying in Paris.

Very nice Hotel. Very Clean and super friendly staff. We had a room for three which was a little small at times, with having luggage, etc. One criticism, The shower could use a curtain or door? it made a mess every time someone showered on the floor!

The hotel is in a quiet side road so there is very little road noise. The room was very clean, but the bed took up most of the space in the room. A longer stay may have been challenging as there were no draws, only a wardrobe, however for a long weekend it was perfect. The bathroom was new and very clean. The receptionists were always very helpful and eager to help.

Great location. Beds comfortable. WiFi spotty and constantly drops off. No light in shower. Staff friendly only on surface, otherwise truly unhelpful (was hoping for a bathtub as in the photo.. nope. Night shift not talking to day shift. Located in passageway where many rough sleepers congregate. Always fresh urine. People dealing. Otherwise near to loads of fun spots not far.

I find you very severe about the hotel's immediate surroundings, located in a pedestrian street. We do our best to keep it welcoming at all times. With regard to your request for a room with a bathtub, I confirm that the conditions of the room you have booked on the site indicate a room with a shower, and not with a bathtub. The person who welcomed you in the evening offered you to change rooms the next day, which we would have been pleased to do. However, since you did not come back to us on this subject, we could not take the initiative to change your room without your consent. I'm sincerely sorry to read your feelings. Our newly renovated hotel, dedicated to the French poet Arthur Rimbaud, is designed to offer you a relaxing break that is ideal for escape. Poor WiFi, unsafe passageway, surly service.
It’s a good location near to lots of cool stuff. The bed is comfy. Water pressure good. Tho bizarrely no light in the shower. Coffee and tea not replaced after first day of four day stay. No shampoo. WiFi is slow and intermittent. Really non functional practically. Front door is located in a dodgy passageway. People sleeping rough, fresh urine constantly, drugs and people being sold. There was a significant police operation today, nine officers. The photos do not depict the place accurately. They showed rooms with bathtubs but when I asked for one there wasn’t. The cool guy on the night shift apologised and was good about it. Said he could get us the right room next day no problem. But then the next day the UberParisian manager stomped on the idea saying he hadn’t got the message. Worse, the director of the hotel suggested to me the problems with the safety of the passageway had to do with me not liking “mixed neighbourhoods”. Ha. Love them. That’s why I picked the place. And I’m in a mixed couple. People of all backgrounds deserve safety. The safety issues outside have nothing to do with it being a “mixed neighbourhood” to be clear. Unbelievable. Anyhoo.. left with a really bad taste in my mouth and felt disrespected in the way only an Old Skool Parisian can really pull off.

On the other hand, I am extremely surprised by the irony and virulence of your comment about the neighborhood and management. I think the message exchanged was very misinterpreted and I'm sorry. The neighborhood is very lively, cosmopolitan, mixed, as some customers point out to us and think, therefore, that there is insecurity, which is not the case. So I thought, wrongly, I concede it, that it was your opinion ... You can imagine that we come to work every day in this neighborhood and know it, contrary to what you seem to suppose. As in many cities and capitals around the world, you also find homeless people, people who engage in "un-Catholic" practices, and that in any neighborhood ... the presence of police is sometimes necessary Regarding your wish of room with bath, I confirm you that the reserved room mentions on the site a room with shower, and not bath. The person at night who received you could actually do nothing the day of your arrival and kindly proposed that you change rooms the next day, which we would have done with pleasure if the person of the day had had setpoint. Nevertheless, since you did not return to us to change rooms, we could not satisfy you in this way. Even knowing your request, we could not have changed your room without your consent. remain at your disposal

That hotel was in a very bad area in the city. There were several homeless people sleeping right outside the hotel door. It was terrifying. The female receptionist had absolutely terrible customer service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dear Madam, Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments on your stay at our hotel. Certainly the neighborhood is cosmopolitan but I can not let you say it is scaring. There is also everywhere as in all the capitals of the world some homeless people but they are not next to our door. I am also surprised to read that the receptionist in post had a very bad welcome. If you mention the problem with your daughter, there was just a lack of understanding, but she never disrespected you: she was just trying to figure out what happened the day before. Looking forward to welcoming you to the next stay in Paris

Not the best area in Paris
Friendly staff and a very quiet room but the area is not as salubrious as it could be. Fortunately the room had a safe so I could lock away my valuables rather than carry them. If you’re in this part of the city though it’s the same wherever you stay. The room was tucked away at the top of the hotel in the eaves so couldn’t stand up right in half of it - great if you are looking for a Hunch Back of Nørre Dame theme...

Best thing about this place was the warm welcome
Reception staff, particularly Mohammed, were great! We were initially a little taken aback at the small size of our room but the facilities were clean and in good working order and the beds very comfy. Despite being in a part of town that my friend described as the Bronx, we felt safe and our room was very quiet. Location was great for a short visit- a 15-20 min walk from Gare du Nord and 5-10 mins from Gare de l'Est.

An ideally located hotel off the main road and within walking distance of inexpensive bars and eateries. We had an excellent meal for 6 inc 2 bottles of wine for less then 20 euros each nearby.

Great value, excellent location.
Perfect hotel and location for a short break. Small room with good sized bed but to be expected in Paris, clean and nicely furbished. Hotel in heavily African populated area but absolutely no hassle, plenty of shops and some lovely bars and restaurants on the streets parallel to the main street near hotel. Literally 2 min walk to Metro station and 5/6 stops to main tourist attractions, 5 minute walk to stop for tour bus also where tickets were on sale too. Would definitely recommend, great value.
