Rooms are a fairly good size and somewhat clean. You basically get 2 flat pillows that are just awful. Location is excellent and the staff were friendly. Pool had no one in it and it was always refreshing.

what a fantastic start to our holiday! The wildlife at this hotel is amazing. We got to see squirrel monkeys, white face monkies daily. We even saw a sloth during breakfast on our first day. The breakfast was great and staff wonderful. Beautiful little spot Thank you

The property location was great with wildlife and birds right on the property. But there were many things broken that they didn’t seem to want to fix. We stayed in a budget room which I would not recommend, it was like a basement room under the stairs that was super small and smelled like mold. The breakfast was good.

There are several pcitures of the room in the Expedia website so that people can see what the rooms looks like- We encourage our guests to tell us if there is anything that we can help with and if there is any issue we try to correct as soon as possible We have dehumidifiers that we out in the rooms so that we could have help with

Nice pool area and good breakfast. Staff were helpful and front desk had menus from most restaurants around the area. Would definitely come back!!

Very friendly staff. I really enjoyed the included breakfast on the patio under the trees. Rooms were cute and clean, great location right around many good restaurants. Good value for money. I would stay here again.

Hotel Mandarina is a little gem in need of some TLC. That said, we loved our 8 night stay there as it’s quirky qualities lend character rather than reduce comfort. Shower was hot, bed very comfortable, the generous breakfast was fresh and delicious and always served with a smile. In fact, the entire team of employees at Mandarina were warm and friendly. The setting is peaceful, private and very laid back. We spent several afternoons in the little lower garden outside our unit “D” just reading and enjoying the wildlife. While there we saw: capuchins aplenty- cheeky little monkeys they are, howlers, agouti, Blue Morpho butterflies, a Toocan and several other amazing birds right around the terrace and pool area. The pool needs some tile replacement but the water and deck area was cleaned daily and we used it most days for a refreshing dip during the hot afternoon. The location is perfect as well, near a grocery, restaurants and an easy bus ride to the national park which we visited three times during our stay in the area.

Staff were very friendly. We stayed at the one family room thay have and it was quite proximate to the street. Not a lot of cars noise, but you could hear the music from the bars down the road. Our room had a terrific kitchen with restaurant quality all-clad skillets that made my inner chef drool, but the artistic sink was more pretty than functional to contradict the restaurant-esque feel. The breakfast was tasty but the sitting area is by the pool with not a lot of overhead cover so if it rains in the morning it's not comfortable to eat. Location is great, close to a lot of restaurants, the beautiful "secret" beach (ask the staff) and about 5 minutes from MA park. If you're heading to the park by car, note that about 1km from the park you will be stopped by officially looking men that instruct you to park there for the park. Ignore them, they simply work at that specific (privately owned) parking lot and there are plenty other lots closer to the entrance so you won't have to climb 20 minutes for nothing on your way back.

My son lost his headphones while staying here. He always sleeps with them on, so one morning we left early on a tour and when we got back to the hotel his headphones went missing. Told staff about it but she didn't seem to care she said to keep looking for them.

Hello. First of all we appreciite your stay with us. When you came to the front desk the receptionist asked you to look for the headphones under the bed or in between the bedding. She also called the cleaning lady inmediately and she told the receptionist she hasn´t seen anything. Your departure was in the early hours the next day (before cleaning staff gets to do the cleaning ) and they actually found the headphones under the bed . Our staff has been working here for many years and they are very honest. People forget stuff in the rooms ocassionally after their departure: books, chargers,. phones etc and everything is keep in case it is claim. We always return the things when it is possible . PLEASE send us you address so we can mail you the headphones - The staff cares very much about our guests and it is our pleasure to be at your service.

Good location
This hotel is a good choice for those who want to stay near Manuel Antonio. Location is great with a supermarket and 3 great restaurants within 3 mins walk. People should be aware that the jungle surroundings means that there are insects in the area but not too big a deal if that’s not a problem for you.

It is of general knowledge that the Park is closed on Mondays. It is up to the people to inform theirselves as no web sites apart from the official Natioanl Park site will provide that information. We told the guest that and unfortunately there is nothing we could do about it- The supplies provided are the ones we have as a basic hotel . We do not advertised that we provide toiletries. The bathroom has towels, hand wash soap dispenser and body wash soap dispenser. Guests have the information in the site and it is there again to inform theirselves and decide if the hotel is the one that suits their needs All our staff is very nice and the guests were upset about the park being closed-

Hidden gem on the Quepos - MA road
Couldn't believe how good this hotel was at the price I paid. The room was spacious, with a small descent to the washroom area, and it was quiet at night; it also had air-conditioning, not that I needed it. In general areas there was a pool, a games area and a terrace for breakfast where you hear songbirds in the morning. The location is convenient for the supermarket and cluster of quality restaurants in the middle of the Quepos-MA road so you never have to journey to either Quepos or MA for meals unless you want to, in which case the local bus is convenient, reliable and inexpensive. And to top it off, front-of-house Lorena was eager to please and helped me to put together my shuttle transfer when my own attempts had not borne fruit.

Visibly Dirty, disgusting and uncleaned
We stayed at this hotel for 1 week. Pros: good breakfast, close to everything as it is between quepos downtown and Manuel antonio, friendly staff Cons: the first day we checked in, the room looks outdated, old a/c that does not work well, the coffee maker was dirty with coffee grounds in it which looks like it hasnt been washed and the bathroom sink was wabblinb that it looks like its gonna fall soon. I had to complain right away at the desk and we had iur room changed. The second room was more updated buy the bed is not comfortable. Also , i had to take away the tray of utensils that they put the rooms and out it in the hallway as i found some utensils have molds which means it wasnt cleaned

We stayed here for 4 nights and were in the family apartment. The apt was spacious and comfortable, though it had a strange chemical smell (maybe freshly painted?). We were quite happy with this hotel in the beginning and was very surprised they still had vacancy during high season. We originally booked another hotel via Expedia but that hotel cancelled our reservation and Expedia offered Mandarina to us as an alternative. We didn't have much choice as this happened just a few weeks before our trip. The breakfast was made to order and very tasty and filling. The location was very good and walkable to some very good restaurants. There is also a small grocery right across the street which we used several times. The problem we had occurred on our last day. We were having our last breakfast before checking out and I ran back up to our room to get $20 to leave as a tip for the breakfast ladies. However, upon opening our safe I discovered that our money was stolen. In the safe we had kept our 4 passports, our iphones, and over US$200 cash from the day before as we were doing water/beach activities all day and felt it was better off in the safe than on the beach. The thief didn't take our passports thankfully as we were leaving CR the next day, but stole all of our cash minus $20. They left us something at least. This is a very small hotel with only 5 ladies with access to the rooms so I'm very surprised and saddened that this happened.

We are very thankful that the guest decided to communicate with us to explain the situation and allow us to resolve the matter that is obviously of great concern to the Hotel and the entire staff. As we told the guests we have never had anything like this happens and we will make sure that never ever happens again-

Good location, but no view.
This started off bad when they slipped in extra fees for my 2 daughters, even though we were renting a room for 6. It also said the room had a view. Well a view is subjective but I don't consider the parking lot a "view". The room was very large and surprisingly clean. The beds were comfortable but the A/C in the bedroom was not blowing cold. I reported this to office and they worked on it. The next day the A/c in the bedroom worked but now the one in the kitchen /living area did not. Overall not a bad place to stay and it is convenient but for the money I could have stayed across the street with a beautiful view of the Pacific.

Great location as long as you do steps
I was very pleased with the hotel and its location. The hotel was clean and the staff wonderful. It was a bit different as you even had to walk down steps in the room to use the restroom. Great place for someone who can do stairs

An average hotel with attentive staff.
The hotel is secluded and in a good area of Manuel Antonio. We were within walking distance of restaurants bars shops and stores. The public beaches were a short drive back towards town. The best feature of the hotel is the pool area gazebo and breakfast patio. All in all we were very pleased with the accommodations.

I will not recommend this hotel. Hotel rates are very high compare to other hotels in the area.Rooms are dirty and door locks do not work. Bathroom is very bad., showers do not work. Breakfast is terrible. No telephone in the room.

Nice hotel close to everything
Such a wonderful experience! Wish we could have stayed longer. We were in room G overlooking the pool and rain forest. Air conditioned and plenty of room. We loved the outdoor shower where you can hear and see birds. Great breakfast. Excellent value for the price.

We didn't really like the Quepos area in general. It was a dirty beach town with not much to do. The hotel floors were grimy, the shower had mold in the grout and on the curtains in the shower. The air conditioner was barely working and didn't take any of the humidity away. The wifi is in the main areas ONLY, and all the of main areas are outside, so while trying to use the internet we were getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. The reception area also closed at 6pm so while we got there in time, there were about 3 groups that came in later in the day that were not able to check in properly. But, the bed and towels were clean and the staff was as helpful as they could be. The breakfast was a delicious desayuno tipico.

Great stay at H. Mandarina
Family of four stayed at the apartment at H. Mandarina. The apt was clean, comfortable, overall cool, had a kitchenette... essentially everything we needed for the last leg of our trip in CR. The delicious breakfast was included! The price is high but it's worth all the commodities and location.

It's at the top of hill opposite a bank and small supermarket just up from the bus stop (350 cc per trip) 10 mins from the beach front. Breakfast is great with good variety in a nice setting. The staff are helpful and they even offer the use of free beach towels. For dinner or lunch try Emilios cafe down the road next to the bank off the main road, amazing views and great sandwiches to take away for lunch and a good seafood dinner.

Outdated facilities
The location is good, close to Manuel Antonio Nacional Park and it is a quite place, where you can rest. I liked the breakfast and the staff saved it for later since I had to be out very early in the morning and came back after breakfast time was done. They even took it to my room which I appreciate. On the other hand, for the price I payed I was expecting better facilities and was disappointed; it is highly overpriced and it definitely needs a lot of maintenance (cleaning, painting, upgrading). There's a game area that is not really inviting and it looks really old.
