This property is a hostel however is not showing up as a hostel on the listing. We went in and while the place was clean smelled so strongly of cleaning supplies that we actually couldn’t stay there and had to leave.

Not great
You have to pick up the keys at the different building. Our room had no natural light even if you opened the window. The shower curtain was moldy. There were tons of dust under the beds. The location was good an the staff nice.

Quick weekend in Barcelona
Quick family trip. Location was very convenient to walk to some major Barcelona sites. Only part I didn't like was the reception desk was not collocated with the actual rooms to stay. It was about 8 minutes away...not the worst, but a little inconvenient (plus the tiny elevator up to the higher floors, but that's common in these buildings). We would stay here again.

Positives: Location, price, high ceilings Negatives: Checkin/out in a separate building two blocks away from the property, terrible beds (we could feel the springs), paper thin walls (no acoustic insulation whatsoever), mold on shower edges and on curtain, dirty walls, half open stuck window shutters and lack of blackout blinds, noisy fridge, no fire exit. I appreciate it is cheap but there needs to be a minimum standard.

Hotel é muito bem localizado, limpo, e o quarto possui um bom espaço Ótima relação custo benefício. Atendimento muito bom. O único porém, é que não há recepção no próprio prédio, para fazer o check in, é necessário ir a outro prédio, uns cinco minutos a pé de distância

Check your e-mail box before you go!
Getting there and finding the place to check-in was not what we had expected. We could easily find it on sat-nav but when we got there we were stood on the street for few minutes because nobody was answering the intercom. We tried ringing the phone number on the entrance door - no answer, then we tried the number from hotels.com - no answer, luckily one of the residents came out so we could enter the building. We got to the first floor and after knocking on the door the cleaning lady opened. We asked about check-in but she didn't speak english, she gave us a business card from Fontanella hotel and told us to go there. We called the number from the card and finally somebody answered. So we headed back to via Laietana and checked in (that went smooth - apparently the hotel sent an e-mail with check in instructions a week before - we missed it). Walking there and back with the luggage and after a long journey is the last thing you want when you arrive at the hotel. Secondly, we weren't expecting a very high standard as this is only a 3* hotel (we usually choose 3* hotels) but having visited over 20 countries in the past few years this hotel would be at the bottom of the list in any category (we only had a smaller room in Oslo). The window and the layout resembled a prison. No fresh air as you could only smell fried food after opening the window. The shower kit had to be held in hand and the shower curtain was covered in mold. Big plus for location and that's it.

Zum schlafen hat es gereicht. Der Boden war nicht sauber und das Bad sehr veraltet. Es gab aber jeden Tag frische Handtücher. Das Hostel war mitten in Zentrum. Und gibt es eine sehr leckere Bäckerei und Pizzeria.

We had trouble checking in. Be sure to call and let them know when you will arrive. Where you check in, is not where your room is. We showed up and could not find anyone. We called and emailed with no response. 30 min later we got a call and someone came to the location to meet us. The gentleman was very nice. He gave us the keys and then we walked about 10 mins to where our room was. The room was very nice. We were pleasantly surprised. I would definitely stay here again. Aside from checking in, this place was great.

Terrible, thin spring mattresses. Walls were dirty. Room window opened up to the buildings inner court, which had no pleasant views and smelled of restaurant greases. Shower was cramped and poorly designed, which allowed for water to easily flood the bathroom floors.

Staff were friendly, rooms were nice and clean. It’s in a great area. Had towels, fridge, small freezer and communal microwave but could’ve done with more amenities including ironing board for the iron. Only problem was that there was no noise allowed after 10pm because of neighbors but we’d get woken up at 8am every morning by building work upstairs. Would stay here again for price and location

Excellent for a small budget
Great location, friendly staff, easy checking-in/out, daily housekeeping, walking distance to everything, a really good bakery next door for a quick bite in the morning. The room was nice, comfortable beds, decent bathroom. The only thing was the pillows, they weren't comfortable at all, so was hard to get a good night sleep.

walking distance to almost every place that visitor wants to see, the only negative part of this place is checking-in, it has no reception, it requires call/text the rental management upon arriving which may be difficult if someone don't have a phone that works in spain/barcelona.

Solid choice in Barcelona
Casp-er is a very good pension-style hotel in Barcelona, located in a residential, quiet street (in a gorgeous area; very close to all public transportation, markets, and places to eat and drink; walkable to major attractions). Not conspicuous, it is a bit hard to find, so use Google Maps or similar. Check-in was a breeze; attendant was courteous and welcoming, and offered help and advice. Common areas are very small and sparse (as pensions usually are) but well decorated and clean. The room and bathroom were very small, but adequate and clean for a couple. WiFi worked perfectly. There were two exterior windows in our room. Travel light - no closet, and the only space for our carry-on luggage was the desk. On the good side, they have a strict rule that no noise can be made by guests after 10pm, which was great (my wife is a light sleeper), and there was absolutely no exterior noise in our room. On the bad side, the structure itself was somewhat noisy throughout the night (e.g. there were a series of pumps(?) that went on at various times - not good for my wife), but it should not be a problem for deep sleepers or party-ers. Check-out was very easy as well (they even printed boarding passes for us). We spent three nights here and were pleased by the service and facilities. Recommended!

Had a lot of trouble getting in contact with the reception beforehand to arrange check in. No answer until the day before arrival and a lot of uncertainty. Other than that the room was clean and a good location.

We were transferred to another hiotel for the first 2 nights as our room had been flooded. This was good, but meant we lost time in what was a short stay, which was unfortunate. The last night we did stay, but the bathroom flooded and we were unable to wash properly. Not a happy night! Good location and pleasant staff, but it did not make for a good holiday experience.

Great location, close to every attraction with walking distance. Room was cleaned every day. Reception staffwas helpful with information There was no window outside and had very basic amenities. Fridge was leaking, mo widows to outside, no mirrors or wardrobe in-the room,. There was construction work every day with noise.
