Stayed here over Labor Day weekend. We arrived & turned on the a/c in the main house & in the 2br/2ba casita. We quickly realized the a/c in the casita was not working (it was 107 in Borrego that day), nor was the WIFI. I contacted the owners & their handyman came out the same day. He confirmed the a/c fan was broken & set up a portable a/c unit in 1 of the bedrooms. He didn't connect the condensation hose, so the water leaked throughout the bedroom. I was put on a conference call with one of the owners & the internet/cable provider (the owner also had me to call the internet provider again the next day). After a series of tests & resets it was determined the router needed to be replaced.
Our second day there the owners arrived in the late afternoon with a small window a/c unit & placed it in the living room area of the casita. They also brought a DVD player (the house didn't have one & we weren't able to stream off a Fire Stick I brought) They installed an a/c unit meant for a horizontal window in a vertically opening window. They propped it up outside with trash cans, inside with stacked plastic shelves & covered the window opening with cardboard/duct tape. The casita never cooled down enough to sleep in, so we left the a/c unit on, hoping that on our last day we would be able to use the casita.
In the late morning of our final full day, I checked the temperature in the casita & found water all over the counter-top & floor. The window a/c unit had been installed with the condensation release point on the inside of the casita. I turned off the a/c unit, cleaned up the water & had to wash a load of towels. At this point, I didn't bother to call the owners. I was tired of dealing with the issues & we were leaving the next morning. I just wanted to enjoy what was left of my vacation.
Also, the spa doesn't work. When I asked the owners where the controls for the spa jets were, they didn't know.
I understand things break. However, when I asked for a discount due to no WIFI, the inability to use both bedrooms in the casita & my time spent on the issues, I was offered a refund of $200 & 20% off the next time I book the property. I voiced my disappointment in their offer & asked for a refund of 1 night's stay. The owners asked to discuss the issues over the phone (we had been corresponding via email). I gave them times that I would be available, they told me twice they would call but never did. I have not received a refund.
