I don't know how much worse it can be, but I believe the local ownership of this flag's just banking upon the notion that if they're $1-5 cheaper per night vs the adjacent options, you'll still choose them, and they can squeeze operations for profit. Check-in awaited 6 mins @ desk before lady ~15' away just behind a wall (talking) came out to give key, room had no towels except one WET towel so had to go back down to get fresh ones, next night the key didn't work to enter the building ~830pm as 2ppl on staff watched me struggling for ~3mins and did not come to help until I rapped on glass, then when I got up to the room they hadn't cleaned it despite having been out of the room since 8am for a funeral/reception all day. Spare me the 'we regret' stuff, they're just running it as frugal as they can, pretty standard fare in the hotel world at the bottom. I had put the "please clean" sign on door right at 8am when I left and it was still facing that way when I returned ~13hrs later.
