The old building is absolutely stunning. The rooms are small but expected as they were the rooms for psychiatric hospital patients. The renovation is very successful. The artwork is atrocious and unnecessary. The hotel is running on a skeleton staff. The service is lax. The breakfast room is extremely depressing. It is a shame that with such a beautiful setting nanagemnt or owners are not trying harder

Very unique and awesome property to stay in! Knowing the history and backstory added to the overall experience, and were blown away entering the campus. All the look and feel that you would expect, but high end, and safe feeling right from entry. I have never had a hotel experience like it!

The staff were great. The room was not. Area around the place was horrible. There was no soap in the bathroom, no vending/water or fridge in the room. The tv barely worked and we couldn’t change the tv channels

Interesting property with a long history. Staff nice and efficient but overall impression is one of a worn and dated property. Bar wasn’t open nor was restaurant on the Sunday we arrived- bit disappointing to find out on arrival…. At a price point of $450 per night I would have expected a bit more…

Formerly an insane asylum, this is a one-of-a-kind property. The history, location, and rarity are all good reasons to stay. Comfy bed and pillows. Continental breakfast was a nice surprise. Heating units were audible.

Since we were there in 2020, they have recreated the arts and crafts style dental in some of the main areas and it is gorgeous. The history of the place is fascinating, and the staff was over and beyond.

This property is great and the rooms are clean. The shower had an inside curtain that was shorter than the tub, so water from the shower was getting everywhere. I wish they had room service or some kind of small kiosk for buying snacks or basic nerds. Great hotel though. One of the most interesting buildings in Buffalo and close enough to downtown.

Beautiful Historic Landmark
My stay at the Richardson was very pleasant. Parking was easy, and the front desk staff were friendly and informative. The whole building is gorgeous and very historical without feeling "dingy". I had dinner with cocktails at the bar and it was delicious. Overall a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
