Mooi resort in een kale omgeving.
Mooi compact resort met ligging aan de rivier. De omgeving is weinig inspirerend. Om die reden is het te overwegen om direct naar Belize City of de eilanden door te rijden. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het eten is niet bijzonder. De kwaliteit van het zwemwater was ons niet geheel duidelijk.

Relax plek in de jungle
Wij vonden de Black Orchid een heel prettig hotel aan het einde van onze vakantie. Het is in de buurt van het vliegveld, dus je kan er makkelijk je laatste nacht doorbrengen. Verder zijn er kano's en fietsen die je gratis mag gebruiken om de erg mooie omgeving te verkennen. Wij zijn naar de Baboon Sanctuary gefietst, wat een stevig tochtje was, maar zeer de moeite waard. Het personeel is erg hulpvaardig, maar niet opdringerig en de prijzen voor het eten en drinken zijn niet laag, maar gewoon redelijk. Je moet wel voor de rust gaan. Er zijn geen uitgaans gelegenheden of restaurants in de buurt, dus je moet wel alles vanuit het hotel organiseren als je geen auto hebt. Overigens is dat in heel Belize zo. Ik vond het jammer dat we weg moesten bij de Black Orchid en vond dit één van de aanrader hotels tijdens onze vakantie van drie weken in Belize en Guatemala.

The property looks like it had better days and was probably at it's prime about 10 years ago. The sky deck is no longer maintained which is unfortunate as it has a fantastic tree height view of howler monkeys. Canoe's were old and un-maintained. Food good. Pool area good. No pickup at Airport even when confirmed twice that a pickup would occur. Good for 1 or 2 nights only as there isn't anything to do in the area, unless you want to take tours offsite.

Very good service and very good food. Lovely location along the river and some 15 minutes to the airport. The Reception manager was very kind to allow us to remain in the same room for two different reservations. Very active howler monkeys and mosquitoes are around!

The staff at restaurant was excellent and accommodating. This is the perfect place for an inexpensive clean room, without the bells and whistles. Beware! The door to your room has a 2 inch gap.

No Hot water, No internet, broken pool chairs, torn and loose hanging sun shades at pool, rude front desk staff. The only saving grace was the restaurant staff and food.

Nice quaint resort off the beaten path. Fish cakes and vegetable pealla in restaurant was delicious. Mario, the driver was a godsend. He was patient, courteous, knowledgeable about Belizean history/culture and a very good Black Orchid ambassador!!

We had a lovely stay at The Black Orchid. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location by the river is very nice and you can hear and see monkeys at the property. There isn’t much walkable nearby. The Iguana Stop next door is excellent. Beyond that there isn’t much in Burrell Boom. The hotel will provide a shuttle to other locations, at an additional cost. There are no bicycles or canoes.

Quiet and peaceful, lots of people there watching birds, close to airport but not far from Belize if want to go to town, has it's own restaurant with good food. Staff keen to help with whatever you need.

Mariano, the manager is whom and what made our stay so wonderful. It's conveniently located close to the airport. The property needs a little dusting (TLC) but has character with a beautiful view of the river. Good restaurant and bar on property makes it very convenient. Overall I have no problems recommending to stay there.

I had a great time here, my last night in Belize-about 20 minutes from the airport-making it a great stop/start point. Nice rooms and pool,along the river. Great staff,great bartender and food. Very courteous, helpful staff, Edmon was the best. Definitely return here.
