Cons:
As other recent reviews mentioned (unfortunately these reviews were provided after we booked), we felt mislead on a few details of the house:
- Beds are advertised as 2 queens - the guest room is a full, which was too small for our guests (both taller people). It also squeaks super loudly, which negatively impacted our guests sleep throughout our stay (and made us feel guilty for taking the master). The mattress itself is comfy; seems like either the box spring or bed frame is to blame.
-The master bedroom is only accessible by walking through the guest room - so in the morning, while our guests were sleeping, we had to exit outside to enter the kitchen/living room area. I'd imagine it's not a huge hassle when it's warm, but definitely not ideal when it's cold out, and we were disappointed that this wasn't clearly called out in the property description.
-Overall, house was definitely more on the rustic side than I had expected, given the price point. The master guestroom is really poorly insulated, so unless using the small space heater provided, it's pretty chilly at nighttime/in the morning.
-As other reviews mentioned, the master bathroom shower leaked. We had to mop it up with towels after every shower, and it felt like it never fully dried out in between use
-Indoor dining table is a bit small (outdoor eating spaces are lovely, but it was a bit cold when we visited), and the room isn't set up well for TV (no couch; some of chairs face away). Not a big deal for us, as we didn't watch much TV.
Pros:
-Courtney was a very gracious, responsive host, and the property was easy to access
-Beautiful backyard - pictures are completely accurate; it's a lovely spot to relax and unwind.
-Kitchen and living room provide beautiful views of the backyard, and the kitchen was very well stocked and convenient for us to cook a couple meals at home.
-Location is great - 2-3 min from Carmel Valley, a really cute town, and easy ~20 min drive to Carmel-by-the-Sea, Point Lobos for hikes, etc. We also did day trips to Pacific Grove/Monterey.
