The concept is an all included one. Therefore little choices to be made. The reception is good, the lodges show tear and wear. Illumination is not good, shower and sink are ready for a renovation. The most important thing that you miss is wifi access in the lodge. Certainly on a wet day! The swimming pools are great. One can not walk far without a guide, so plan this ahead. The food is OK as a buffet style can be.

Hotellområdet är trevligt, fina pooler. Rummen helt ok. Väldigt lyhört dock så man hör varje gång grannen går på toaletten eller duschar. Ingen mottagning på telefonen och väldigt dåligt Wi-Fi, bara tillgängligt i receptionen och närheten av den (och i knappt halva restaurangen). Urtråkig mat (buffé) som bara serverades under några korta perioder på dagen. Utöver det gick det inte att köpa mat. Bättre och mysigare att ta sig till byn för mat. Det går att promenera (ca 2 km) eller ta båttaxi, vilket är dyrt. Skulle inte rekommendera stället även om poolen var trevlig. Det går inte att bada i havet pga krokodiler, hajar och farliga strömmar.

Ein Hotel für Gruppenreisen ohne Anspruch. Hotelzimmer sind dunkel und eng. Schreckliche Beleuchtung, kein Flair. Auch das Essen ist für Gruppen, gibt nur 1 Menü.

Very basic hotel
Very basic rooms and with only mosquito net and no glass on top windows so you are awoken very early by sounds from neighbours and staff as well as wildlife animals. Not very attentive staff, we struggled to find someone to help us with information several times. And food is okay but again very basic. The grounds (pool area, beach, bar etc.) are all very nice though. Be aware that to get to Tortuguero village you need to pay for taxi boats which can quickly add up if you want to go on tours, visit other restaurants etc.

Liked: Beautiful natural surroundings, eating meals alongside the lagoon. Lovely gardens and grounds, well cared for. Abundant, helpful, well-trained staff. They’re well-organized for managing big groups of tourists. Guides to teach us about local plants and animals. The town is a 20-30 min walk from the lodge. Rooms were clean, in simple, appealing wooden buildings. Disliked: Shocked to find it’s focused on package tours. Hated the crowds and having to take all our meals there (mediocre buffet). Lack of communication from Expedia or hotel about essential information. Overpriced ($270/night) for what you get. Rooms lack place to hang damp clothing. No blow dryer. Very limited internet access. The gorgeous Caribbean beach is littered with trash! Plastic and junk all along the beach kept guests away. It’s unforgivable that a pricy lodge does not clear its beach of rubbish and litter.

Amazing slice of Paradise. Right on the beach and the river and in the jib the. Saw iguanas, toucans, humming birds, armadillos sloths and lots of beautfirul butterflies Lovely pools and great breakfast Would thoroughly recommend

Sehr schöne Parkanlage mit vielen Schönen Pflanzen und Tieren- Warane, Leguane, Kolibris, Schmetterlinge, große sehr schöne Heuschrecken und nätürlich der Rotaugenfrosch. Strand kilometerlang und menschenleer— leider zu unserer Zeit da sehr hohe Wellen Die Schildkröteneiablage hatte noch nicht begonnen. Ausflüge nach Tortuguero und in den Regenwald mit Carlos waren sehr informativ- Personal mit sehr guten Augen für die Tierwelt da— Leider hat es während unseres Aufenthaltes einen Tag komplett durchgeregnet- keine Chance die Klamotten wieder trocken zu bekommen— Unbedingt Regenponcho mitbringen!! Essen war ok ohne große Auswahl, aber immer frisch zubereitet. Sehr schöner Aufenthalt in einzigartiger Umgebung und sehr netten Menschen

The resort is very well run and our guide Mario was excellent and always on hand to assist if required. The resort is somewhat rustic but that's part of it's charm. Very comfy beds and tasty food. The included excursions were great (boat tour and trip to the village). We also did the early morning boat tour which I'd highly recommend (we booked this with reception as soon as we arrived)

Pros: They provide many services and activities including boat tours and kayaking. They also provide transportation to/from San Jose. Their location is wonderful- between canal and the beach. We really enjoyed our stay. Cons: rooms are very simple, no air conditioning, TV or Wi-Fi. The wood cabins have no sound proof.

We had an amazing time staying at this place. Our guide, Carlos, was the best guide ever! From the moment he met us at La Pavona and untill we said goodbye two days later, he was helpfull, attentive and did his best to share his wide knowledge about Tortuguero with us. Our stay included two tours, one to the village of Tortuguero and one through the canals, and we bought another one (5:30 am animal watching). The tours were well guided by Carlos and we were very excited to see so many animals. The facility itself is well maintened, with lots of flowers, two swiming pools and very friendley stuff. The huge Iguana in front of our porch was a bonus :) The restaurant at the lodge is OK, though if I had the option I would rather eat at small local eateries instead of a large turistic cafeteria.

All meals & some tours included
Neither the Expedia or the Lodge website was clear in letting us know that this Lodge is All inclusive. Included in the cost is: - Pick Up & Drop off from San Jose, but they can also pick up/drop off at the restaurant where they stop for Breakfast/Lunch. - A tour Guide, you are broken into groups dependent on whether or not you're staying 2 or 3 nights. - All meals, buffet style - 2 Tours, one to the Village of Tortugero and one Canal Cruise to spot animals, except the National Park fee, that's $15pp. (The other tours are optional extras) - Accommodation, no air con, fridge or toiletries provided. We were contacted by Jorge after we booked to arrange the transport. We'd already booked a private shuttle as we were coming from Arenal, but he advised that if we wanted to meet up with the usual transport, to be at a certain restaurant by 9am or be at the dock by 11am for the boat to the Lodge. There were other boats we could catch at 12.30 or 3pm if we missed the 11am. Our driver was late by 15 minutes, so he called ahead and tried to get them to wait for us. The luggage boat was waiting which was awesome, but no one spoke to us when we got off the boat, so we just grabbed our bags and went to reception to check in. This action was very unusual because most people seem to know the process, and the girl was very rude to us. We had to find our guide and he would fill us in & tell us our room number. There was much confusion but we involved the manager and it got better.
