It was ok
The stay was great if you don’t mind cameras watching you. Propane tank was empty, couldn’t sit on balcony because straw would go up my ass from the crappy chairs. Stove top was dirty with mysterious fluid. It was what it was. Plenty to do in area. Plenty of undersize crab available- we threw them back.

Great access to the water!
We really enjoyed our stay! We spent a lot of time on the screened-in porch and on the dock. Caught lots of crabs, harvested some oysters and had some great meals with them. Access to the water was our prime reason for renting and this place did not disappoint! It is roomy, beds are comfortable, kitchen is well stocked with quality cookware. If you're a bug magnet like me, be sure to use spray—even on the porch—those "No see-ems" are ferocious! Owner is a good guy who seems to really want his place to be enjoyable for his renters—communication was great!

I'm not understanding your comment. The sleeping quarters have been explained in detail how the rooms are laid out in the description section of my ad. Quiet, secluded
My husband and I wanted a quiet get-away for a few days to unplug and relax. This property is the perfect place for that! It is a beautiful.setting - we took advantage of the canoes and even went crabbing. It rained one day so we decided to drive into town (15min) to visit a lovely antique mall. Perhaps we were inspired by all of the wonderful antiques which decorate this house! Randy (the owner) is very accommodating and responsive to the questions we had. The T.V. reception is questionable at times, but there are many movies available on DVD. We enjoyed the huge screened in back porch and sitting on the dock watching the osprey (never did see the eagle but we saw his nest). Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We had fun crabbing off the dock. Using the canoes was a good way to pass the time. Kids had a blast. I will say there is not 3 bedrooms. Upstairs there is one official bedroom. The second bed is in an open area at the top of the stairs. The 3rd bedroom is just the pull out sofa in the livingroom. It was fine for us with just two kids who shared a bed but if other couples are going that would be nice to know. We had originally booked this place because it had a boat ramp. Upon booking and speaking with the owner I was informed that our boat could not go out from his ramp and we had to still drive to a local ramp. Which was not far but again that was the main reason for booking this house. His ramp is more for just the canoes and jet skis. Also the dock pictured in listing where the boys are crabbing is not his dock. It is the neighbors dock....which is another reason why we had thought we could put our boat out there. If you are looking for a very secluded place to stay this is a great place. We enjoyed the quiet for sure.

Hacksneck 2023 Vacation
We had a great vacation at this house with our friends and family. The water was deep enough for us to keep our 21’ Mako, even with the low tide. We enjoyed several meals of fish and crab caught right off the pier, or off our boat. If you don’t have a boat, there are also kayaks and canoes to use to take in the scenery. The screened porch was great for getting out of the sun and enjoying the evenings, when we weren’t sitting by the outdoor fire pit. The kitchen is small, but it has much of what you need, as well as grills and a crab pot outside. There is a combination of antiques and interesting/amusing items in and out of the house. We enjoyed finding something new each day. There are 2 queen beds upstairs, with a pullout sofa and loveseat. Downstairs is a large couch and another pullout sofa. The pullout isn’t the most comfortable, but we had an air mattress that worked just fine. I would suggest a little more storage for guests to store their food and clothing. In the upstairs bathroom, towel hooks would be nice for guests sharing the bathroom. There is a Roku upstairs, but if you need tv, you can also bring your own Firestick or Roku for the other tv’s. We were so busy having fun, we didn’t really need to.

Peaceful Waterfront Stay
Rural area, very quiet and peaceful. Very nice dock. We used the crab pots and actually caught decent size crabs that we steamed. Enjoyed watching the tides on the creek rise and fall, listening to all the birds and having coffee on the dock. Screened porch is very nice. Our dog loved running around. Thank you for being pet friendly. We grilled most evenings but we took lunch time rides to nearby Onancock, Watchpreague and Chincoteague. Great place if you want to get off the grid for a bit. The property is nice. It was very quiet. My only complaint is we should not have been charged a cleaning fee when 1 we used our own sheets per owners request. 2 Had to wash the towels and wash rags at our expense. 3 Had to take the trash with us. Other than the cleaning fee everthing else was ok.

Dear Friend, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. The sheets were discussed prior to your arrival due to the quick one day turn around rate and it was agreed that bringing your own sheets would be quicker for your departure. I have cloths soap next to the washer and the trash was mentioned in the ad but also on the checklist located on the Fridge. Feel free to respond to my comment and my ears are open. A very pleasant stay
My wife and I and our 9 month old puppy spent 3 extremely enjoyable and relaxing days at Rockin Rando’s home over the Thanksgiving holiday. We found the description on the website to be accurate, communication with the owner (Randy) was outstanding, and the house had everything we needed for a great stay! The house is a tad rustic but was very clean and cozy and spacious. We slept in the First Mate’s Quarters and it was quite comfortable with a great view. There are also a ton of interesting and unusual collectibles and antiques for viewing pretty much everywhere you go inside and out, which was fun in itself! We were lucky to have a couple of 60 degree days in late November so we spent most of our time enjoying the screened in porch, the dock, the kayaks and the beautiful scenery. The yard and surrounding area were perfect for our puppy to run and play and explore. A good time was had by all and we will definitely consider staying there again in the future.

This place is located in a beautiful part of the eastern shore. It was NOT as represented online. The online description says that it is a three bedroom home. It is actually a one bedroom home with a large loft. So all sleeping areas are upstairs and there is an exit to a deck from the loft area which is unable to be opened. Creating a safety hazard for those people sleeping there. The listing also says there are three bathrooms. This is a false statement there are two bathrooms and an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower simply has a showerhead and faucets no other bathroom amenities. There are 360° cameras posted along the outside of the house. This makes the outside shower feel a little uncomfortable When we checked in the floor was incredibly dirty and there was a thick layer of dust on all of the items on the shelves. Many of the items on the shelves were interesting antiques but we couldn’t get past the fact that it was really dirty. When we went to look at the bedroom the one bedroom there were dirty sheets on the bed. The front door will not lock from the inside so the only way to secure it is by sticking a wooden dowel in the tray where the sliding door opens. This did not instill a sense of safety to us. I sent the owner photos of the dirty floor in the bed and the door that wouldn’t open and he would only give me the cleaning fee back. We only stayed one night. The location was highly misrepresented online

Quiet relaxing area but can’t relax completely due to multiple restrictive rules by owner (List of “Do Not ….”) . And it is not pleasant during rainy weather! Water was coming from the sealing in the kitchen , no power, no phone, no water or toilet during power outages.

The Perfect Vacation Spot
My husband and I typically go crabbing every year but this was our first time staying at Rocking Randy's place. His listing is very accurate if he doesn't have it you don't need it! The kitchen is fully stocked and ready for you to cook all of the crabs that you will catch. Typically when we rent houses we deal with the rental company, however we were in communications with Randy from day one which we really liked. He gave us directions to the house, included where to stop for bait and told us exactly what to get in order to catch the crabs and what beer to bring! When we got to the house the crab pots were already out on the dock ready for us to bait and throw in. Our favorite spot was the screened in back porch it was perfect for playing games when you needed to get out of the sun. My husband and I ventured out to the bay on the canoes. It was absolutely the perfect vacation. If you are looking for a secluded vacation spot this is the one. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful and Perfect
We always look for properties that are secluded and full of nature, and this place checked ALL the boxes! The house itself is just fascinating with all the carefully placed antiques and artifacts. So much to look at, we never even attempted to turn on the TV! My boys and I kayaked, fished, caught lots of blue crabs (which we released, because even though I'm an eastern shore girl, I am slightly ashamed to say I STILL dont know how to pick them!) The screen porch is just amazing, it just brings a sense of comfort and happiness. I often had a stupid smile on my face for no particular reason... At night, the stars are brilliant, my youngest son said he could "see whole galaxies". Randy is wonderful, he really cares and was always there for anything. Relaxing vacation
Loved the house and the area. Property is exactly as listed. The husband and I as well as our two dogs totally loved the trip. 1st time crabbing and Randy explained exactly how to set the crab pots and steam the crabs. Made for an amazing dinner. We went to the local markets and purchased fresh clams & flounder. Delicious ! Seen tons of critters.. deer, rabbits , multiple birds , lizards & fiddler crabs . Drive was easy. Once you cross the Bay bridge it’s beautiful huge farms. Favorite part of the house was the screened porch as well as sitting on the dock and watching all the fish and wildlife . Ate at a few local restaurants. Mallards & an Irish pub not to far away. Both were very good. Perfect place to relax and enjoy Mother Nature . Hope to book again and bring some family members that like to fish!

Peaceful solitude
Let me start by saying this: if you can avoid vacationing with boys overflowing with teen angst, do so. For the kids, I thought it would be perfect. They love fishing, and I thought that having bay access out the back door and the ocean approx 30 min away would be ideal. I was wrong. The got bored with crabbing, and they never thought about taking their boat out, except at low tide. But this is not a reflection on Randy’s property. Rather, I mention it as something to think about if you’re traveling with angsty teens and hope to relax. On the bright side, there’s plenty of remote areas to hide a body or two. This is not the Ritz Carlton, nor did we want it to be. For myself and my boyfriend, this property was practically perfect. Quiet, peaceful, secluded, comfortable and cozy. Rando has got just about everything you need. If you’re missing anything, there’s a grocery store and a Wally World approx 15-20 min away… but in this serene setting you’d never know these amenities were so close. There are also farmers markets nearby with wonderful fresh produce. Combined with freshly caught crabs (and fish from our charter adventures), our meals were delicious and healthy. Randy provides canoes and kayaks for guest use, and the quiet roads and flat landscape are perfect for bicycling. (When was the last time you lost weight - without trying - WHILE ON VACATION??) Don’t get me wrong, we’re not health nuts. We drank beer. And we enjoyed a couple of fantastic meals at nearby restaurants. Bonus: The nearby Mallards has pet-friendly outdoor seating in a picturesque setting, with wonderful food! The house itself is clean, comfortably furnished and has a cozy, casual feel to it. As others have noted, you pass through one bedroom to get to the other so keep this in mind if privacy is an issue. The beds are comfortable and we slept very well. The sofa beds were less so, but that’s to be expected of sofa beds in general. The only sound at night is crickets and the stars are AMAZING. The outdoor shower is Heaven. Seriously. Try it. There were a couple of minor issues caused by some inconsiderate prior tenants, but nothing worth mentioning except to say that Randy handled them promptly when brought to his attention. I would recommend you check propane levels before you are ready to start grilling. All in all, this was a very positive experience and we hope to return in future. Thanks so much, Randy!

Down to Earth
We live in crazy days -- overscheduled, overprocessed, overdone! "Rockin' Rando's" little oasis provides a respite from all of this. You really are off the grid as much as you can be on the Eastern Seaboard of the USA. Don't come here looking for an eyebrow bar or Michelin starred restaurants; come here to enjoy the beauty only provided by God and enhanced by someone that positively adores his little slice of heaven and is willing to share it. Again, is this the Beverly Wilshire? No. And nor would we want it to be -- it is not really 3 bedrooms (2 upstairs with one having to pass through the other and share a bathroom that is located within the one bedroom; other sleeping area would be the living room), nor did we find a 3rd bathroom ( outdoor shower and 'nature' as your toilet?)--yet there is a charm in the simplicity of this place and it is not without its 'perks' ... certainly the quiet cove it is located on, the great set up outside for grilling and hanging, a very nicely stocked kitchen with good pots, pans, utensils and cooking accoutrements, a comfortable bed (we only used 1 bed as there were only 2 of us), and lots of eye candy because Randy not only collects but proudly displays his antique and fun rummage finds for his vistors to enjoy. His enthusiasm is infectious and makes for a magical experience for all who are willing to disconnect with 'the grid' and connect, in simplicity, with nature.

Unpretentious, comfy, unique family getaway location
This place is special. It feels loved and lived-in and is really quiet and private. Was like we were borrowing a friend's place for the weekend. Beautiful inlet views, great screened-in porch and bar area. Fun collected decor. Comfy couches. It was really cool that the property comes supplied with kayaks and canoes, life vests, the crabbing equipment. Kids found plenty to keep them busy and entertained. Our dog loved laying out in the sun and taking in the whole scene. Fast 5G wireless access (live-streaming Opening Day of MLB worked perfectly on my laptop). If you want a place that is bland and resort-like and overly focused on the fine amenities, there are other places you can go. This place was more our speed and we would definitely come back. The host, Rockin' Rando, seems like a conscientious, friendly guy. His communication was great and he checked in to see that we were settling in nicely. Helpful guide was provided with information/FAQ about the house and the surrounding area. We tried our hand at crabbing with some chicken parts and hot dogs as bait but no luck -- probably a bit too early in the season for it. But we still had fun trying out the crab pots.

Amazing secluded getaway!
I booked a guy's weekend for my husband's birthday and this place exceeded expectations! They all loved this place so much! Plenty of hangout space for everyone and lots of great and convenient amenities (including a great movie collection!). The fridge and cabinets are stocked with all the basics. The dock was absolutely amazing and they spent a ton of time out there. They even gathered oysters from the canoe and steamed them up for dinner! Randy was a great host, very communicative and helpful with any questions we had! You can tell he puts a lot of love and pride into his space and wants his guests to truly enjoy themselves. It was better than we could have hoped and we'd love to visit again during warmer weather, especially to enjoy even more of what there is to offer here!

Likely a fun place for the summer!
We stayed here over thanksgiving weekend and while a gorgeous location with lots of outdoor amenities, it was perhaps not the best choice for a winter stay as there was not as much space inside as we may have imagined. It’s important to note this is not a true 2 bedroom as one room is on the main stair landing, so would be better suited for a single family than a group of adults. Randy was very friendly and provided lots of good information before the trip. Definitely secluded and well kept outside area.

Wonderful Location
This was a great home for relaxation in a stellar, quiet, remote location. You are truly “unplugged” here. We had no cell service at all coming in, but we’re able to make use of WiFi calling without issue. Make sure to utilize Randy’s directions. GPS is not going to work, especially after turning off the main road. The screened in porch was fantastic, the kitchen had the basic necessities, but the real draw of this place is the area. It was perfect for a nice bonding weekend for my husband and I and my parents, as well as our dogs. There was no distraction from neighbors, the dock provided a nice place to fish and relax, there was a sandy area for the dogs to access water too. The yard has a great set up with flat area for games, a fire pit, and lots of places to lounge. Randy was very attentive, and always available to talk if needed. I would highly recommend this place for a great “no frills” weekend that really has everything you need.

Serenity at its finest!!
Secluded location was peaceful and quiet. Access to oysters and crabs was out of this world! This location has everything you need to enjoy the true essence of your stay! We did bring all of our own food but the refrigerator was stocked with necessities. The outdoor patio area with the lighting at night put the magical final touches on our getaway! We spent majority of our time on the pier and caught all of the oysters and crabs we could!! Privacy, serenity, Nature's beauty
Randy's place was just what we were looking for! A place to get away from the noise, we were able to let our dog run free, enjoy the crabbing and fishing from a brand new dock. Randy had bait and crabbing gear ready for us when we arrived! We caught trout and our first puppy drum fish right off the dock! Close enough to make a run to the stores and restaurants; and easy travel to the seaside for boat launches/ramps if desired. There is plenty of room for many people indoors and out, with a nicely enclosed porch and outside grilling station, not to mention the mini-beach Randy created to put your feet in the sand! Randy offers entertainment with canoes and kayaks, horseshoe pit that come with rental. Randy was very responsive to any questions, needs, promptly answers the phone! Can't wait to come back for another vacation and a few more Stellas!

Thanks so much for the nice review. Those fish you caught were awesome. I hope you each had your fill of crabs and oysters and Tony's 22" Flounder was off the hook. Look forward to having the whole Family back and I will have the Stella's waiting.

A+ from the homeschool mom
From the moment we reached the driveway, we had a great time! It is a beautiful location and Randy has put a lot of great extras and decor into it. The carved eagle and American flag out front, with some really cool signage is just the beginning. So many cool and interesting signs and items in this home - we enjoyed seeing it all! And the kids LOVED going out on the dock every morning to see the crabs, minnows, and other critters. The sand, the sun (a little rain too but not enough to dampen any spirits) were fantastic. S’mores every night by the fire pit. Outdoor shower was so smart - maybe I’ll put one in at home for the kids! 😆😉 Kids enjoyed charades and bingo you had on hand. The only complaint was my kids hoped to meet the person who put all this together. Daughter kept saying, “Mr. Randy must be a really great guy.” Maybe in the future!

WOW I am in tears. GREATEST review EVER!!! My hard work driving 420 miles each trip has paid off in 10 years. more to come folks "Shark Beach" will be 2 ND place in 2022. Woohoo

Secluded Getaway
Had a great time at this house. Secluded area, very quiet, plenty of space to let the dog roam around. Very nice patio and screened in porch looking out at the water. Owner was very responsive and helpful. We would book this trip again.

Secluded and scenic
Our goal was to to find a secluded a place to get away with our son and dog for most of the week and you definitely get that here. My toddler and dog enjoyed running around and having fun around the property. It was very peaceful and quiet at night, which we especially liked. Location is a good launch point to other destinations around the Eastern shore, from down to Cape Charles to up to Chincoteague/Assateague parks. My main suggestion would be for the owner to make sure renters receive a consolidated list of all policies/instructions (like the folder that's inside the house) in advance of arriving. Much of the information is stated up front on the Vrbo page, but some key information like restrictions on use of the AC and other check out-related procedures were harder to find.

Very unique and peaceful. The owner is very responsive. Crab traps are available to be used. Caught a lot crabs, kids are happy. Crab steamer is available to cook the crabs. We also enjoyed the canoe.

Great place to get away!!!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at Randy's place! Randy was a great host - welcoming us "aboard", leaving bait in the freezer to get us started crabbing, and leaving fresh cooked crabs in the fridge. The property was just... WOW! The dock, the views, the screen porch... we loved it! Our family spent lots of time fishing and crabbing. We caught rays, crabs, sea trout, and a dogfish shark! The location is perfect being peaceful and secluded yet conveniently located to shopping, beaches, and "tourism". Although there aren't 3 separate bedrooms there was plenty of room and privacy for our family of 4 and 2 small dogs. It provided all the comforts of home! We really loved this place and can't wait to go back!!

Brandi thanks for the kind words. This is the type of review I like reading becauser it shows that all the hard work and details I put into my home are appreciated. The shark exhibit is my finest yet but more to come for next season, hopefully a swimming pool ???. Look forward to having you back.

Yeah you got out just in time. My home is beautiful and remote but it comes with a price when Mother Nature is in her Fury. But we keep digging in and moving forward to making sure we stay here for the long haul. Thanks for your stay and you'll be receiving a letter soon, didn't forget. Wow! Wonderful Location to Stay
We had a group of 5 friends and decided to book a cabin near Virginia beach but couldn't find any. We saw the wonderful cabin with 1 hour away from Virginia beach which is definitely worth it for the location and the beautifully managed home. This was the first time I tried Kayaking and it was a lot of fun. My friends enjoyed a lot too. The house had some restrictions about the use of door and the temperature at home which was because of the previous people who stayed had opened the windows and made it little bitter in our experience. We did a fishing in the lake but unfortunately we couldn't spend much time and we didn't get any fish. The bedroom and bathroom was properly maintained. This was such a memorable place that we enjoyed a lot. We had one difficulty in finding the location of the cabin. If you are using Iphone, the maps shows it in a different location. Two of my friends found it difficult to find the location since it was late night that we checked in. No T-Mobile/ AT and T network which was the saddest part. The Wifi is inside that helped us but there was no instructions for the Wifi in the cabin. Overall. it was a pleasant and memorable trip for us. Don't miss it!

Unique property on bay
Neat property with screened in porch and outside shower which was great for our sultry summer visit. Had to keep shades down due to heat. Owner responsive but limit cell phone access at property. We had very nice time, new washer/dryer & frig appreciated.

Beautiful views
We enjoyed our stay! The views, kayaking, and nature were all really lovely. There were a few minor issues with the house, (mainly some ants), which the owner said he was unaware of and will be addressing. In the midst of all that nature, don’t be surprised by encountering a little extra nature. One morning we relocated the cutest crab from the kitchen back to the great outdoors! Fun trip in a gorgeous area.

Amazingly private serine setting...total relaxation!
Both myself and hubby loved this place! We stayed for a few nights on way home from florida and truly enjoyed the peaceful private location. Only negative was lots of flys..but not due to owner. Entire area has same issue. Still...had lovely quiet time.

Piece of hidden paradise
This property was phenomenal. The quietness, the space, the views, all of it. We had an absolute blast for the time we were there. Our only regret is not booking it for longer! Will definitely miss this place and look for dates to be back!
