Our check in was not exactly friendly, and they switched people in the middle of our check-in. We got to the room, and it smelled horrible, musty and like it hadn't been cleaned. The bathroom was gross and dirty with dirty towels still hanging on the shower rod. Would not recommend.

Older motel and room was nice. Had nice wood plank flooring, clean, comfortable bed, small bathroom. Shower had new shower head. Water does have an odor of sulfur that is not uncommon to this area. Bring your own bottled water for drinking. Room had nice TV, small fridge and microwave. And a coffee maker. Air conditioner worked very well. Free wifi. Park style grills available for use. You provide the charcoal.

Check in went very smoothly; staff was very courteous. This motel was clean, but appearance suggest they are in the process of updating/rehabing the property. There was an issue with the tv; my son went to office and the gentleman promptly remedied the matter--he could watch the baseball game!! I hope they are able to continue updating; great location!

FIX THE DRAIN ODORS!
I liked the remodeled interior of this classic old motel. That said the the horrendous smells from the bathroom drains when using the shower or sink almost ruined my stay.

we are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. unfortunately we are constantly trying to address the water smell. its safe but unpleasant and can't even get water treatment companies to successfully address the issue.

The property looked run down from the outside with lots of weeds in the parking lot and a poor childrens play area in front of the motel. The room was small but clean. The TV had lots of channels I watch. The shower was small and the shower head was so low I had to bend down to get under it. Check in was quick and easy. The room was quiet which may be due to so few rooms being rented. The location was close to many outdoor activities.

we are sorry there were things you didn't like about your stay, but glad about the things you did enjoy. our location is older having been built when everything was a little smaller.

NEEDS CLEANING
the room was filthy. It smelled stuffy and moldy. The carpet was DISCUSTING. The owner said he would be open on Sunday for ice between 8-11. At 9:30 the closed sign was still on the door . They didn't even open that day. Needed ice the fridge wasn't working well the first night and needed ice to keep everything cool. That didn't happen. The owner said he would refund my money if I wanted to go somewhere else. Everything was BOOKED UP. It was part of the 4th of July week. I would have if I could have found some other motel with a vacancy. But the best part of your motel was leaving.

we are sorry you didn't enjoy the room. however the fridge ran fine, it was filling it until the door barely closed that caused the issue. As far as our office hours we are always closed on Sunday, however we opened special for this guest. and stayed open until 11am. the room was the exact room that is pictured for a single bed room. we did our best to address all issues that where brought to us, as the other issues were not there is little we can do now, other than to remind potential guest to please remember when you reserve the cheapest available room that you can find it will not be 5 star rated accommodations.

The place was very outdated and old. The style vintage was about the 60’s. The place was very overpriced and they added a pet fee which I was totally unaware of when I made the reservation. The place was clean but the shower was in very bad condition so I never used the shower. I would never stay here again.

I love this quaint motel along old Highway 31. It is a family-owned operation. They are friendly and helpful. Updating and remodeling are being done in the rooms. Fantastic for the price.

Carpet was wet, could not take off your shoes. The smell was atrocious, afraid to shower and sleep with the velour blankets. Could see outside through the crack at the bottom of the door. Only positive was that the manager did get up to check us in when we arrived at 11:30 pm. Almost wish we would not have.

We are sorry you had a poor experience. The house keeper must have gotten over jealous with the carpet freshener for it to still be damp when you arrived. As for the small amount of light that shines through at the very bottom of the door, unfortunately we hadn't noticed due having ample light while cleaning. Though it must be said that there is a big defiance between seeing a small about of light shine through at the corner of the door and seeing through it.

The property is quaintly cute and the owners are doing a great job with the rooms they've renovated. My friends were in an unrenovated room and it was clean but the carpet and room smelled of old damp. The water was sulferous and we didn't take a shower because we are diva princesses. But the place was nice, very restful, great beds, and microwave minifridge., strong wifi. Great price.

We are ever working to improve our facilities. We have installed new filters to every shower head to combat the hard water. Unfortunately the sinks are harder to filter. We thank you for for your understanding and choosing Gateway Motel for your lodging needs.

I liked that it was close to where we needed to go and we could get it for just one night,Saturday. However, the water smelled so bad and made the place stink. The bathtub was old and there was mold on the ceiling.

This is an older roadside motel that is being fixed up and is charming and comfortable. If you like the concept of the "Rosebud Motel", this might be a good fit for you.

Classic old (vintage?) motel with caring, engaged owners working to make improvements and keep the rooms filled. First impression had us concerned, but a decent place that allows dogs with huge area in back for taking pets out.

The front desk clerk was fantastic and attentive. Unfortunately the water went out and was out for hours. When we left the water pump was not yet fixed. I liked the fact that accomidations were made for a faulty ice machine. If there wasn't a water issue the review would be higher. It would have been nice to receive monetary compensation for the water issue.
