veel te kleine bedden
Het bed was veel te smal. Bij de receptie aangegeven, na bij betaling konden we een kamer krijgen met een groter bed. Wij zijn hierop niet ingegaan. Later, een andere medewerkster, bij de receptie weer naar een andere kamer/bed gevraagd. Nu kon het wel, zonder bijbetaling, alleen de kamer was in het basement.

We had a good night but were very disappointed at the lack of tea and coffee in the bedroom. We then went down to breakfast and they told us we couldn’t have a table as we hadn’t booked. When we checked in, we were told that breakfast was between 7am and 10am and to go down whenever we liked. We weren’t told to book a table. It completely spoilt our stay.

Dear Kate,We provide tea and coffee in the rooms. There is a machine in the cupboard. If you ever run out of tea bags or coffee pods we have a 24x7 reception that you can call to request for more. In regards to breakfast it does get booked to capacity but theres always the option of room service. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused and hope that you stay with us again. Shoul you need any assistance please feel free to reach out to our reception team and we will be more than happy to help.

Lovely hotel, great decor, v nicely done, our room was upgraded which was generous. Reception staff were perfect. Strange to have an internal window in our room and as we were on the ground floor was v dark, great for one night but otherwise too depressing with no natural light. Restaurant/bar had a lot of potential, beautifully airy and light, gorgeous decor and great food but poor service and attention to detail. Once you managed to get a member of staff they were amazingly friendly and great, but seemed to be a lot of staff busy being unorganised, and forgetting things, which was strange. Teamwork needs to be better. Overall lovely stay we walked into town, park opposite, lots of great restaurants and pubs so nice anniversary break.

The room was comfy and nice. Service was slow in the restaurant. Good location to explore Richmond. Have to pay for parking. The spa was included and we accessed the swimming pool, sauna and steam room which were nice- wouldn’t have wanted to pay extra for it though.

Absolutely fabulous stay . Staff @ reception very friendly . Rooms are amazing . The only disappointing thing I can say is it’s very expensive to park your car. I do think that should be free . £15 for one day !

A great hotel.
A lovely hotel with extremely helpful and friendly staff. The room, although described as a smaller double was more than big enough with a good sized bed. The room was very clean and well equipped. I would recommend this hotel for a visit to Richmond.

Second and final time staying - disappointed
We were upgraded, which was lovely, but overall, we were disappointed with the room. The room had several issues: - dirty display cushions (photo attached) - behind bathroom sink was very dirty. Viable when in the shower - The towel rail is too hot. My partner has scarred themselves, all from the smallest of touches - leak issue in bathroom ceiling (photo attached) - parking is listed as free on hotels.com, but I learnt it was £15 for 24 hours at check-in My biggest issue is we were charged twice. We pre-paid via hotels.com. Later that evening, we learnt via the credit card app that Harbour Hotel had applied the night fee again after taking the £50 holding fee. We informed the hotel on checkout. They apologised and organised a refund. A part refund has been issued but not the full amount!

Wanted it to be so much more
Being open the stay fell below our expectations. We have enjoyed dining at the Gate several times over the years and their Sunday roasts had been exceptional. This time however its clear they have changed, the chicken didnt have a brown or crisp skin, just two leg/thighs chopped. The yorkshire puddings shop bought, sadly way below the previous high standards. The Room we stayed in although nice, we were woken up at 5am as trolleys shifting what looked like towels for the Gym outside our window and then moved past 4 times which ruined our lie in. Also the coffee machine and kettle housed nicely had no socket to plug in so had to all be taken out and set up on the dressing table, rather random and not thought through? The free Gin provided in room is a nice touch you think, however not including the tonic for this removes any geasure as a bit of a gimmik. Wanted to share as we would be keen to return in the future to the area but would most likely try one of the many neighbouring hotels

Beautiful grounds & welcoming staff at first instance. The feel of the building is elegant (it has a lovely fresh ambience) & inviting, combined with the surrounding nature it really is a special place. The spa facilities brilliant & a sure attraction. Our room was close enough to it so great placement provided (ground floor room is nearer a mini not so busy car park so swap to another floor if a light sleeper). Complimentary drinks (birthday) a nice touch. Oh the in house restaurant scallops just amazing, a must visit overall.

A nice hotel with a decent spa
The hotel was good, a comfortable room with air con and the spa was great with a proper pool. Service at the hotel was OK. One receptionist asked what day it was when booking breakfast and two other staff struggled to resolve a relatively minor issue. Parking is limited - if you can’t get into the parking outside there aren’t too many other local options. The additional charges for breakfast and spa use are clearly noted but still add up even on a short break. Breakfast was good both days (we tried different options) and the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. The location is excellent, lots of green space locally and a short walk to the river. Plenty of food and drink options in the centre of Richmond. A longer walk to Kew Gardens or local rail and tube services - or hire a scooter / bike.
