When we came to check in the receptionist apologised and told us that there was a wedding party going on but said the music should begin to stop at 11. The music (and then the sound of people packing up the wedding) lasted until one in the morning and made sleep impossible.
On top of this the bed itself was really solid and you can feel the mattress springs, as mentioned in other reviews. We put our duvet on top and asked if they could provide any extra bedding. While the receptionist was able to give us a duvet cover there was no duvet in it so it was really cold. The paint on the walls was also damp and peeling.
We had phoned ahead to ask if they could provide us with an iron. The iron they gave us literally leaked water out of the power cord. The second iron didn’t work at all. By the time we got to third iron we were very short on time. We visited so we could go to a wedding so while this might seem small, it was really stressful.
They did allow us to change rooms that night (but without an apology) and the next room was adequate and basic.
We do not normally leave reviews, particularly for small businesses. The reason we are here is that they have flat out refused to apologise or offer us a partial refund. We tried to talk to them both at the hotel and then through hotels.com in the hope that they had made a mistake, would read the above points and acknowledge that it wasn’t acceptable.
