Slice of Paradise
Sitting in the cabin or on the deck you experience the stunning view of Lake Michigan with all of it's continually changing glory! Peaceful, serene, quiet, and remote on this lovely association property with lots and lots of nature surrounding you - yet you are 15-20 minutes from the store. And oh my, the sunsets... If you like to cook, it's all here. If you like walking the beach, it's lovely! If you like to relax, you've come to the right place! If you like solitude (my trip was on the shoulder season) this cabin won't dissapoint! If you are looking for fancy and brand new, you won't find it. This is a lovely comfy place. If stairs are an issue, there are stairs to get to the cabin and to the beach. If dirt roads are an issue, you are going to drive on one. Like a previous review, wise to arrive before sundown as a first timer! The owner, Mike is responsive, communicative and friendly.

Great Cottage Getaway
This cottage was great for our mid-winter weekend getaway. It is remotely located on Lake Michigan. We were glad it was not snowy as the road would have been a challenge, but we loved the location. The cottage was clean and cozy and Mike was great with communication. We would stay again!

Relaxing week away
The cabin is clean, warm, and pleasant, and the views of Lake Michigan out of just about every window are medicine for the spirit. My trip was in the winter and it offered just the solitude and quiet I was needing. I will be coming back!

Peaceful & Beautiful
If one seeks physical beauty, sweeping views, and a very friendly, cooperative host, it will be difficult not to really enjoy this spot. Now, are there more upscale properties? Of course. But this has all one actually needs for essential comfort: decks, endless beach, small but fully functional kitchen, cable/sat. tv, tons of greenery. And then there’s the expansive view of what for all intents and purposes is an inland ocean. This isn’t luxurious. But it does boast ample qualities that add up to wonderful, satisfying vacations. Ours was precisely that.

Pure Michigan
A wonderful, beautiful spot on Lake Michigan. The cottage is clean , and Mike makes check in very easy . The beds are comfortable, and there are plenty of pots and pans . Lots of fresh produce to be found in the area. Lake Michigan never disappoints and the sunsets were beautiful ! We were the only people on the beach . A perfect getaway, and a perfect place to stay !

Big Lake Stay
Cool but comfortable, water was chilly because of two days of rain but enough sunshine for beach activities. We also rented ski boat on Silver Lake and canoed on white River. Gorgeous beach and view despite cramped quarters. We all had a great time!

Best beach and view, challenging inconvenient location and access. Average accommodations. Weather conditions the last week of June less than favorable and quite a bit of smoke in the air from forest fires in Canada. Despite the environmental conditions we had a good time.

The view from the patio and the sunsets were spectacular. The stairs ( 30 )to enjoy the view were not for the "faint of heart", especially for people in their seventies or anyone with handicaps.

Weekend stay
Very nice place, right on the beach. The house sits on a dune. Best to check in while it's light out, otherwise it's easy to miss the several turns from US-31. Beds comfy, kitchen fully stocked, everything was clean. (Keep in mind that you must bring your own bedding, towels, etc.). There were clear instructions for check in and good communication with the host. The neighborhood was very quiet and safe, the view was spectacular. Thanks!

Lakefront Cottage
First of all- the location, view and beach are stunning. Absolutely beautiful and so quiet and peaceful. The new deck and stairs are very nice and the water level has gone down so there was lots of sandy beach. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it wasn’t very clean. I totally understand it’s a cottage in a remote area and my expectations and standard were not high. I’ve stayed in cottages my whole life and understand they get sandy and aren’t going to be spotless. However- a basic cleaning should still be able to get main areas decently clean. There were muddy footprints in the shower which I wiped off easily with just paper towel. When I was setting up my daughters pack n play there were chunks of food on the carpet in the bedroom and the bathroom sink wasn’t clean either. The house itself has so much potential to be exceptional it just could use some love and general repair. Overall nothing that would keep me from coming again- but I didn’t think it fair to give 5 stars. I would recommend staying here.

Frozen Waters
Used the cottage with friends for a weekend getaway. Lake was frozen (February), but made for great scenic views! No cellphone reception, but there is a landline and WiFi. Overall had a great time!

Lovely beach.
Lovely beach!! Lovely outdoor area! As our weather was wonderful... we enjoyed our stay tremendously. For those whom are physically limited (which we were not) a mention of the 29 steps to arrive from the parking area to the cottage door would be helpful. We were expecting the 50 steps to the beach but not the other steps.

Nice Place for a Beach Getaway
We had a wonderful long weekend at the lake. The house was somewhat confusing to find, but eventually we found our way there. A note I had not seen anywhere else, there are MANY stairs to get up to the house. If you are traveling with someone older who has balance or has issues with stairs (which we did) that might be something you should consider. The house was clean and had the listed amenities. The windows/screens need some love, as do the kitchen drawers. We enjoyed sitting on the new deck watching the sunsets. We also played detective a bit to figure out what the old structure was in front of house on the beach side, as it's sitting there in disrepair. It appears to be the old deck - unsure why it's still there. The beach is always a win in our family with kids - we enjoyed many hours playing in the waves searching for rocks.

Wonderful Getaway
If you're looking for fancy or for lots of space, this is not your place. But the location is amazing. Every night and every day we were blessed with incredible views of the lake's ever-changing moods. We were there to be together, to play games and be by the water. We saw a young eagle, Kingfisher, hummingbird, and seagulls, of course. We watched barges go by and had amazing views of the constellations at night. It was what we needed/wanted. The owner was so helpful and pleasant.

Perched on top of a sand cliff, with great view of Lake M.
This is a truly outstanding location, with 180 degree view on the lake, its waves and its sunsets. Cozy for 3-4 people, but sleeps more. Mike was highly accommodating and responsive. For instance, there was a fence blocking the view, put to prevent erosion. I asked if it was ok to remove it (a 10 min job) and he said yes right away. I was just disappointed that the deck was blocked off, as it has partially collapsed, turning a gorgeous view point into a partial block of the view from the house. I hope Mike can remove it, or fix it, asap, as it is rather unsightly in its current half collapsed state, marring the view. And maybe post pictures of it, so it does not come as a disappointment on arrival ? Overall, a great place, I hope to come back (after deck is taken care of!) and I recommend it fully.

Relaxing Weekend
We had a wonderful relaxing long weekend at Mike’s. The cottage was just what we needed. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was a bit chilly but we still relaxed on the deck and did some star gazing. Couldn’t get down to the beach from cottage (the darn water levels and wind) but Mike gave plenty of alternative ways to get there. Looking forward our next visit!

It wasn't very clean. There was food under the table. Considering the cost to clean the place I would have expected spotless. I was disappointed that the stairs to the beach were not completed but it was off season so they might be completed next year. Otherwise it was a nice place and I would consider going back and staying longer.

Beautiful property
We wanted to see the lake and were open to experiencing the fury of the lake. We enjoyed both. The home is comfortable and well furnished. A tree blocked the road in and out of the property and we lost electricity within a few hours it was all cleaned up. Mike, as well as his neighbors, were very responsive, helpful and caring. We will definitely consider returning.

Very secluded property, perfect to get away from the city. Wife and I loved being there, although the stairs down to the beach were under construction and we weren't able to access the beach itself. But the deck was wonderful overlooking the lake. Would definitely recommend overall.

Everything was as advertised. Beach stairs were a little scary at first, but they looked steeper than they were. My 5 yr old was up and down all day without issues. Comfortable beds and great water pressure, well stocked kitchen.

Awestruck by the view, Mike is an incredible Host!
We were awestruck by the views from both the sides and front of the cottage. The kitchen had enough gadgets and utensils to keep any cook happy. The TV was high resolution - with both a DVD AND VHS player - finally got to see our oldest movies again! The beach although small was great, and the water - fantastic! It was wade-able for 75 feet out with sand bars and deeper water to choose from - no undertow! Mike is VERY attentive - TRULY A SUPER HOST! We already booked again for next year!

Relaxing on the Big Lake
If you're looking for a vacation on the Big Lake, and fit enough for climbing lots of stairs, this place is very good. Pros: A good price for a beautiful property, with a cozy well-lit bungalow, nice bare wood trim everywhere and new windows throughout (meaning fewer Lead Paint hazards for kids). We had good experience with Mike the owner; very responsive. The view and sunsets can't get any better on Lake Michigan, and the stars at night are magical seen from anywhere on the broad tiered deck wrapping around the house. The low railings around the deck give it a whimsical sorta Japanese feel, even more-so with lanterns at night, and they're the perfect size for keeping little kids "in-bounds" when playing around the house with all the acorns from the oak trees. There's lots of hiking in the area, and nearby inland lakes to explore if the Big Lake is uncooperative. Cons: (not many worth reporting, but these 2 may be helpful to know) 1 - There is no washer/dryer-- we really missed that with 2 little kids, but it was only a week, so no biggie. 2 - All the beaches all along Lake Michigan are suffering from heavy erosion due to high water (see current VRBO pictures). The erosion has made the cottage's beach stairs difficult at the bottom, so toddlers will need assistance to reach the beach or climb back up. But toddlers should never be at the beach alone anyway, so it was not a vacation-breaker for us.
