For me and my family, Clear Creek Cabin was just okay. We have stayed at many rentals, and although the setting was quite lovely and the cabin was reasonably comfortable, there were several things that were below our usual hopes and expectations. I'll list them here:
1. The kitchen was very, very disorganized. It was hard to find what we needed and we spent a lot of time digging around. Signage, drawer organizers, and overall organizing would improve the cooking experience 100%.
2. Also in the kitchen, many of the pots, pans, towels, hot pad holders, etc. were either outdated, unusable, or very unclean.
3. Most rentals welcome their guests with beverages, snacks, and/or personalized notes. Nothing like that here. Small thing, but it makes guests feel special.
4. Most rentals also have the basics including aluminum foil, saran wrap, ziplock back, matches/lighters, paper towels, and maybe even tea or coffee. Clear Creek provided only toilet paper. Some items we had brought along, but we needed to make a trip to town to get what we thought would be basic supplies.
5. What seemed to be the "kid sleeping area" did not have a comfortable bed for the parents to sleep in or blinds to darken the room for nap time.
6. We had a spider and mouse problem. It's in the country, so that was not totally unexpected, but not great, especially with little kids. For those of us not accustomed to rodents in our homes, it would be good to give renters a heads up, especially when there are children involved. The mice chewed through a duffle bag to get to the dog food, and they were not shy. Half of us saw them in the bathroom next to the mudroom.
7. Finally, we had a nice hike to the top of the bluff, but as previous guests have shared, it took some time to find the trails. Signage would help a lot.
For some folks, these things might not matter, but for the price we paid, I/we expect a clean, functional, and safe place to stay. Clear Creek did not hit the mark and that's a lot of money!
