Thanks for the feedback. As we discussed earlier, the roach issue has been controlled and resolved. We hire professional pest control people to perform pest control regularly for our property. As I mentioned earlier, Florida's weather is nice to many pests living here naturally, we need our guest to work with us together to avoid the pest coming into the house and bothering your vocation. All the roaches you saw were from outside of the house. They came into house to look for food or water. We recommend to our guest: 1. Keep the kitchen as clean as possible and do not leave any food on the floor or countertop. If any food falls on floor or underneath stove or fridge, please pick them up and throw them away; 2. Please throw away garbage every day. Do not keep food or cooking garbage in the house overnight. This will reduce the opportunity to attract more pest from outside into the house. We need to find a way not let these pests too close to us. I have lived in the Villa Pearl for 10 days to do some maintenance work right after you checked out. Because I did not do much cooking, I haven't encountered any roaches when I was there.

Thanks for your feedback. We have pest control professional to do pest control regularly. However, it is hard to eliminate roaches completely if the guest cannot keep the kitchen clean enough. Any food dropped on the floor or underneath the stove will attract roaches. The most important thing to keep roaches out is to keep the kitchen as clean as possible. Never left any drooped food underneath the stove, refrigerator and dish washer. Throw away kitchen garbage every day to avoid attracting more roaches come to the house. If you see more roaches after pest control spray, you can go to buy a can of Raid for ants and roaches (about $5) and spray it underneath the stove, refrigerator, and dish washer. It will get the bugs killed right way and never come back at least during your stay. The most important thing is to keep the kitchen clean and do not offer bugs any food to invite them to the house. If you need to buy Raid to control roaches, please give the receipt to my property manager or send it to me the owner and get a refund for it. We understand your feeling and feel sorry about it. We have been trying very hard to effectively control roaches. However, we do need our guests' effort as well. You welcome to come back again. I am sure the things will get much better.

I feel sorry to see your such untruthful review about our property! Just a couple of hours before you checked into our property, both my property manager and myself had inspected the property and we couldn’t find any ants or other bugs in the property. However, just a couple of hours after you checked in, you reported huge amount of large black ants found in our property and asked me for a refund. We called pest control as soon as we got the report from you and we also noticed the ants are not ones we normally find in the area. All these ants are likely imported from somewhere else. The ants seem to be only from master bedroom/bathroom, not in other rooms in the property. I remember you once requested to change to my other property in the area. I told you I was doing the maintenance work on that property and I need to get it ready for you to move in as soon as possible. However, you told me later it is too complicated to repack everything. You do not like to move to my other property anymore! Here is the email you sent me. Hopefully, you still remember it. "We are just going to stay in the living room. Too much trouble to pack our stuff and change houses" Our property can sleep 8 persons and your party only has 6 people. If you do not like to stay in master bedroom, you still have a bed to sleep. I do not understand why you choose staying on sofa instead of beds. We hire professionals to do pest control regularly, and for this special situation. That is why these imported ants can be quickly controlled. Myself stayed in the property for a week to get the house cleaned and pool deck painted after your guys checked out. These imported ants were very much under controlled. We have a guest group staying in the property right now. So far, we haven’t heard any complains. There are a lot of lizards in the area. This is a part of natural environment in Florida. If you leave the doors open too long, it gives lizard a chance to get into the house. If you do not like lizard, please do not invite them into the house. The reality is: these imported ants are not local ants which only came to my property after you checked in, and they are all gone after you checked out. It took us a big effort to kill all these imported ants. Fortunately, we got this fully controlled and cleared out all of them. Spectrum is a large and reputable broadband service company. However, anyone may experience a short service interruption due to system fault. Please understand It is very normal with today's technology.

Thanks for the review and rating. We feel very sorry about your experience with the water heater. This is the first time we encounter this type of problem on water heater. It is identified as an intermittent fault on pilot assembly. You are the first one reporting this to us. We have already ordered the part and it will be shipped to us in a week. 1. The payment reminder was sent out by VRBO automatically without owner’s intervention. 2. We have very particularly asked our guest to report any unsatisfaction as soon as you notice it in our welcome email. Therefore, you had not reported and complained anything before you checked out. Please present any evidence to support your blames. 3. In order to protect the privacy of our guest living in the house from being disturbed by uninvited visitors. Our policy is only informing the guest one week earlier about the house location and address before the check-in date. 4. You bargained hard for a good pool heat price. You tried to make a cash deal to avoid paying taxes and VRBO service charge. We refused. It took you excessive time to make up your mind on how to pay the pool heat. 5. You carelessly lost our house key to the rental car place. My property manager had to make extra effort to help you retreat the key. You should at least appreciate his effort to help you. 6. Our check out time is 10AM. However, you did not check out until 11:00AM. Your car parked on our driveway. However, you did not respond to the door knocking by our cleaner and neither the call from our property manager. I got a message from my property manager at 10:39AM. He asked me to send you a check-out reminder via email. If you forget about all these, we have all the communication records with time stamps. Please behave honestly when you write a review and do not intend to mislead other people. You should know you will not welcome in the future as a dishonest guest.

Thanks for the review and feedback. We clearly indicated that toilet paper and dish detergent are not offered as regular supply. We only offer limited supply for the convenience of new guest arrival. Guest needs to purchase these items after checked-in in the villa. Pool heat and spa work fine. However, you need to turn on the timer to heat the spa. Spa will only be heated after the timer is turned on. If you do not know how to use it, you should call the property manager or the owner. If you encounter any problem, you need to call us right away. We will get the problem resolved for you as soon as possible rather than wait until your vocation is over. A good communication is always important for both of us. The carpet is very clean right now. We have booked carpet deep cleaning before you checked in. However, we do not like to disturb your vocation. The carpet cleaner was asked to perform the deep cleaning right after you checked out. If you talked to us earlier, we could make an arrangement to get carpet deep cleaned during your stay. We do wish you could read all the information before you started your vocation in our villa or call us when you encounter any problem.

So you did what you threatened us that you would, but here is the true story for Hollywood about how our help is exploited and our kindness is returned with ruthlessness. As Keith rightly said, we are friendly owners and treat guests kindly, making their stay as pleasantly as possible. The Keith K party was easy to deal with throughout the booking, arrival, stay and departure, including no reporting of problems he provided in the review during their stay. Things turned dramatically wrong after they returned home. Upon their checkout, housekeeping found the party left behind a critical medical supply stored in the fridge and an ice pack in the freezer. We immediately informed him and offered to help sending it back if they want. Keith thanked us for the offer and agreed to "send it registered and tracked" to the address he provided. Knowing it was a critical medical supply and Keith specifically asked us to send it together with the ice pack, my property manager made a special trip to UPS store and sent the medicine and ice pack. True the price tag was high through no fault of our own. This is when things turned sour. He refused to pay for the postage, not because he didn't want the things back, but because it was expensive, saying that he "never agreed to pay" that high price "to have this item returned". The question is how could we know the price before it was actually being sent by the post office? We believe if he wants it sent "registered and tracked", he should pay the postage instead of us. He then threatened that "if I [he] am forced to pay this, it will be reflected in my review of the property" and he did indeed. We think he himself, and anyone with a common sense, knows clearly if he is being fair to us owners - asking us to help, but refusing to pay with the threat of a bad review. What kind of character is this? What is left of integrity in a person? He might have expected us to lump it since bad reviews aren't good for business. We believe people with good judgement can pass their own views on what is right and what is wrong in this whole thing. To us this is a matter of integrity and principle; we won't be intimidated and coerced to yield. If you want something, you pay for it - Let this be the moral of this entertaining Hollywood saga! Keith, if you are truly a nice person, you should feel very uneasy now being judged in the public opinions' court, but rest assured we won't lose any sleep on your bad review.

We are very surprised by some of the problems you mentioned in your review. This is the first time we heard about "dried throw up" and "dried vomit on the bed". We notified the management company to verify and wanted to correct the situation asap if found. While we thank you for bringing to our attention, we are very disappointed that none of the problems were reported to us during your stay. To us there is no point to wait until the review; you could have enjoyed more while there if you had asked to get these problems dealt with. Some were very easy fixes, if we had been informed. We could have cleaned the "dirty vents" and "dust". We could have sent you another fan or two. We could have come by and examined the pool condition. We could have readjusted the fridge temperature that someone may have preferred it lower ... We apologize for the oversight of housekeeping and will ask the management company to ensure that housekeeping cleans and services the house to the standards we set. That said, there are two things we want to put on records for you and our future guests. First, Florida climate is very attractive to bugs and tiny creatures. Occasionally they do go through the screens and get into the pool, before the next weekly pool service is due. In that case, we ask guests to simply use the pool net provided to scoop them out. Yes, these creatures do find bathtub drains a particularly favorite place to stay, even in the cleanest house in town! That is nature; not much more one could do to prevent it other than regular monthly pest control; one can only fix it when found. Second, like in most, if not all, homes in Florida, temperature is preset at a comfortable range that is also suitable for the Florida climate. Temperatures just don't go down as low as some would wish, despite a lower setting. During extreme heat the villa will at best maintain 72F, so putting the thermostat down any further will not cool the home any better, but it will for sure hurt the A/C unit trying to meet a temperature that is impossible to reach. In that case, guests would end up having no functioning A/C at all. For this reason, temperature is preset. We have run our rental home this way since 2010. Many vacationers come to Florida for its sunshine and heat! However, we will look into installing ceiling fans to give renters an option, as we heard so strongly from you in your review. We are as committed as ever to improving our guests' experience staying at our villa. To continue the response after our investigation and verification - Today is May 8. Another group of guests came to stay and left the villa. In order to verify the problem of "dried throw up", "dried vomit " mentioned in the review, we had our property management company investigate and look at it very carefully. As expected, the management company found nothing to that effect. Therefore, we conclude that the review pertaining to this is totally imagined and false! We ask kindly that Danielle W. make changes to this part of the review. In addition, we strongly suggest that, next time you stay in one of the VRBO villas, please be responsible and respectful - report any problem when you experience it and not keep silent and lash out in a review. Failing that, it will not only hurt owners' business; it will mislead future guests in losing good opportunities. Moreover, it will damage your own reputation as a renter. There is no winner here the way you behaved.
