Great location, comfortable room, and the staff was really nice - until the last day. There were several people who rotated at the front desk. During check in, the very nice woman working that day explained that the key cards were not working very well, so she gave us a real key as backup.
As it turned out, the key card did not seem to work, so we used the real key. And we also confirmed that it was okay for us to keep the key with us when going out and about.
On our last day, someone who we had not encountered before gave us a lecture on why the key cards do in fact work just fine and said, "you are those people who have been holding onto a key - very naughty".
He proceeded to demonstrate that the key card works, and yes it does, if you throw your shoulder into the door. No wonder my wife thought it didn't work, and we had been told to expect problems.
He was being rather mock serious so it wasn't like he was actually yelling at us, but I can see why other reviewers have complained about a certain male staff member. He probably thought he was being funny, but it came across as condescending.
The other staff, however, were wonderful, and gave us all sorts of ideas for our stay.
P.S. while other reviewers have complained about the nightclub across the street, our room faced the street behind the hotel. It was "city noisy" but not terrible. We slept just find with ear plugs.
