Fantastic place in great surroundings!
We stayed 2 nights in Iguana Lodge, one before and one after our 3 day jungle trek through Corcovado NP. Perfect place to prepare and recover for a tough hike. Splendid contemporary rooms with ocean views, friendly staff and great food in the restaurant. Breakfast was a little basic.

We had a great 5 days at Iguana Lodge. The staff and owner were very friendly and responsive. The room was comfortable. There was a bit of noise from the kitchen and food aromas at times. The only downside to the property was the road leading from Puerto Jimenez to Iguana Lodge. The beachfront and pool were wonderful. Very relaxing. Food was great but more options would have been nice a well. Morning breakfasts were great.

Lovely retreat at the coast of the Golfo Dulce in Osa Peninsula me. Very quiet, friendly staff, good food and loads of things to see nearby. Beds could be better though.

The property is full of interesting vegitation in a very natural , lightly groomed setting with endless opportunitied for nature/wildlife photography. The beach is accessible for walks and swimming. The 'lapas' (scarlet Macaws) are numberous and amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Be prepared for extreemly humid conditions outside and early mornings with lots of critter calls to wake you. The road in is not paved from Puerto Jimenez - which adds to the experience. We made the 7hr scenic drive from San Jose - but a 40 min flight into Pto Jimenez is a more doable for most. We highly recommend Iguana Lodge for the adventursome eco-traveler,

El paraíso en Puerto Jímenez
Resumidamente, volvería mil veces más. La ubicación es excelente, sientes que estás en el paraíso. La piscina es soñada y es como estar dentro de una montaña pero al frente del hotel. Solo una observación que en el restaurante tendría más variedad y precios un poco accesibles, dado que prácticamente comes ahí 3 veces. Me encantó que dieran la posibilidad de llevar las botellas del licor favorito de uno. Para estadías de 8 días ayudaría poder usar al menos al almuerzo la cocina compartida, así uno baja costos en comida y se puede quedar más días.

Absolutely spectacular property with the most friendly staff and great food. Everything is done right. There are at least two gorgeous spaces where you can do yoga and Lauren (the owner) teaches complementary classes. But more importantly, the grounds are absolutely spectacular and we saw many monkeys and macaws and parrots and tucans right on the property. The restaurant at the lodge is by far the best in town. Truly fantastic experience.

Essayez de trouver mieux...
15 minutes de route cabossée pour atteindre l’hôtel. Piscine à l’abandon et sale, hôtel peu entretenu, personnel qui fait ce qu’il peut. Photos non contractuelles (améliorées qui doivent dater...). Cuisine très chère à base de surgelés (22$ pour une pizza sans les taxes et service). Plage non nettoyée (même si essentiellement du bois)... « pura vida » ne rime pas avec pigeon, eco loge ne rime pas avec établissement à l’abandon. C’est dommage car le cadre pourrait être bien, la verdure autour est belle et agréable. Nous avons eu le sentiment de nous être faits avoir en croyant réserver quelque chose de luxueux. NB: si vous voulez joindre Corcovado, sachez qu’il y a 4 ou 5 rivières à traverser et que la dernière se fait à pied au bout de 2 h de route et que vous pouvez avoir de l’eau jusqu’au bassin

Comme vous vous en doutez, nous vivons dans une région hors des sentiers battus. C'est une aventure. Beaucoup de vos plaintes concernent le cadre naturel de cette région. Ce n'est pas pour tout le monde. Si vous avez besoin de routes pavées et d'un paysage soigné, je ne pense pas que la péninsule d'Osa soit faite pour vous. As you guess we live in an area that is off the beaten path. It is an adventure. Many of your complaints are infact about the natural setting of this area. It is not for everyone. If you need paved roads and manicured landscape I do not think the Osa Peninsula is for you.

Very disappointing stay
After a fantastic week in remote ecolodges on the Osa, we stayed here one night before traveling out of Costa Rica. The room itself was very clean and nice, but the grounds and facilities were underwhelming. Our room was situated directly above he restaurant and doesn’t have windows that closed (just screens and fans bc no A/C). We learned that it was “pasta night” that night, so we politely declined to attend the dinner and turn in early for an early flight the next morning. Before 7pm, an unbelievably obnoxious level of sound was unavoidable in our room. It was truly a nightmare. A few minutes after 8pm, we left our room to ask if there was any other place we could get some sleep. The front desk woman had one other room available and that is where we moved to. The obnoxious party now use stopped around 9, we started to drift off to sleep, but then we hear another family enter our casita on the floor above us. We woke up in a panic because the doors don’t lock and we thought we we placed in someone else’s casita without them knowing. After 30 minutes of debate, while listening to the new orchestra of family/babies crying, we decided to move back to our room. I’ve never had a bad experience like this before, and our standards are very reasonable. If you’re paying close to 200/night for accommodation, you should be able to find a bit of rest. Best of luck.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Iguana as we headed into and out of Corcovado. The rooms and the setting are incredibly beautiful. The birds, plants and waterfront were great. The food was delicious and the hard working and friendly staff went out of the way to make sure that we had a comfortable experience. Very nice!!

Un rêve hors du temps.
Séjourner à Iguana Lodge est un enchantement. Celui d'un accueil chaleureux et le fait de se sentir en symbiose avec l'océan et la jungle. Le choix doit se faire entre de merveilleuses promenades sur une plage immense et déserte ou nager dans la superbe piscine sous les arbres en compagnie des oiseaux et des singes toujours à deux pas. Qui observe qui ? Quant aux repas préparés avec des produits sains, José le cuisinier, fait des merveilles. Hors du temps, on souhaiterait que le temps s'arrête et l'on se prête à rêver sous la douce lumière des bougies et le regard perdu dans une nature somptueuse.

Yoga retreat!
The food and drinks were delicious. The view of the water was beautiful. The pool was heated. The wildlife was cool ( a monkey, iguanas, toucans, macaws, etc). Chairs spaced around the property for relaxation. The service staff very helpful and friendly. The room was full of ants that came out at night. They sprayed the room during our stay but we still had ants at night. They offered to change our room, but we were only there two nights so we did not bother. Resort is very geared towards yoga.

I am glad you enjoyed Iguana Lodge in spite of the ants. It is not normal to have ants in the room but occasionally they decide to take the jungle march. They are gone now and the room is ant free. Thanks for your understanding and patience. You really did not have to stay in that room, We love yoga at Iguana Lodge and so glad that you enjoyed.

Nothing like the pictures
overpriced and run down - not like their pictures. considering what we had paid I was expecting a lot more than what we got. There was rat poo on the verandah where you access the rooms (this was there during our entire stay), lights weren’t working (one broken in the bathroom, one broken in the room, one broken outside the room), one of the glasses in the room was chipped, the hand soap was a watered down runny version (I guess to save money) and there was no shower gel/shampoo or anything like that provided. There was no air circulation in the bathroom at all making it unbearably hot and no warm water at all on the last day. The jacuzzi did not work and there were no yoga classes on even though the website boasts of both these things. This place seriously overcommits and underdelivers. What a disappointment.

Thank you for your response. We are sorry for your disappoint, but your comments are surprise to us. We recall your visit and checking in with you daily. For the 2 nights of your stay, not once did you mention the issues you raised or photographed. If you had asked about the guano on the outdoor deck we would tell you it was from bats roosting at night. Bats are the most diverse animal here and no matter what we do we can not always convince them where to roost. The mess is cleaned up every morning. If you had raised the issues about the two light bulbs being out we would have fixed them. We do review lights regularly but the salty humidity can make them finicky; even after we check them they may go out. If you had asked about the handsoap we would explain that our 100% organic soap is not watered downed but actually intended in the form, designed for marketing but to be effective. We are at a loss about your comment about the other soaps being missing. We did checked. The 100% organic Papaya Tangerine Body Wash, Ylang Ylang Shampoo and Banana Hair Conditioner were in the bathroom. It is a shame you did not bring it to our attention at the time. There is ventilation in all the bathrooms. We are not really sure what you are referring too. No warm water on your last day.. We have never had a complaint about not having warm water, there were 4 other rooms occupied at the time. The jacuzzi is working fine, if you were having a problem operating it, you only had to ask, we would have been happy to help you. Yoga is available. You actually asked about this and we told you we could provide it at a cost. You choose not to do it. Most Iguana Lodge guests,’ in their comments, would not agree that Iguana Lodge “seriously overcommits and underdelivers” . We realize how important your vacation is. We are sorry it was not what you expected.

Sleep with the Ocean, Wake with the Macaws
We came in July (middle of the low season) and were upgraded to a Casita, which we were beyond thankful for! The best part of our stay was that the Lodge is right on the water and is super close to do tours of national forests and kayaking the mangroves. We really enjoyed speaking and getting to know Toby and Lauren, the owners, who live right on the premises so they are around to ensure all aspects of your stay are up to your liking. Lauren even gave us a private yoga class free of charge. Breakfast is included with your stay and there is fresh coffee all throughout the day. If your are into meditation and relaxing in a very natural setting, this is your place.

Blocked lavatory, poor facilities. Should be charging about USD20 per night - not USD150. Suitable for back-packers. THE worst Expedia hotel I have ever stayed in.

I am not sure about what the blocked lavatory is referring to. We have great maintenance and fix issue rather quickly. I highly recommend people check our web site out to see who we are so you know what to expect. I also suggest reading the other reviews that do not agree with this assessment.

Beautiful respite in Osa
The casitas are simply amazing with kind owners that make you feel welcome with special touches. It is a jungle lodge so expect noise from the creatures that live within and heat during the day. If you want air conditioning and extreme quiet this is not for you.

Ne pas se fier aux informations données...
Hotel très difficile à trouver quand vous vous y rendez en voiture de location (piste très mal indiquée, panneaux de l'hôtel décolorés illisibles). Réservation en mars pour 2 nuits à 175 euros la nuit : chambre minuscule, sans rangement, pas de climatisation mais un ventilateur de chantier qui fait un bruit infernal, ventilateur au plafond dont on ne peut pas régler la vitesse, pas d'eau chaude, le coffre rouillé, store en bois en guise de rideaux mais comme il fait chaud si vous les fermer vous ne respirez plus mais s'ils sont ouverts tous les clients de l'hôtel vous voient... Le restaurant (nous n'y avons jamais mangé) est ouvert de 17h30 à 20h00 (à 20h00 vous devez avoir fini...) est situé sous les chambres : une odeur de bouffe imprègne bien tous vos vêtements. Attention les photos sont retouchées, ça ne correspond pas à la réalité. Le choix de cet hôtel a été fait pour aller au Corcovado donc réveil très tôt puis que les rendez-vous avec les guides sont à 5h30 : zéro collation à votre disposition. Le personnel : la manager sympa mais sans plus : pas là à notre arrivée nous avons été accueilli par le propriétaire sans doute : très mal poli et très rustre, la manager nous a vite expédié et n'a pas voulu nous faire une réservation pour une visite avec guide au Corcovado parce que le délai était trop court, nous l'avons fait tout seul par nos propres moyens et ça a très bien fonctionné mais il a fallu repartir au village. Trop cher pour les prestations annoncées et fausses.

Jungle Fun!
Proprietors Lauren and Toby are totally amazing hosts at Iguana lodge. They host each amazing, delicious dinner like it is a dinner party for friends. It is a great time to share about the days adventures - which are varied and many - ranging from jungle hikes to tree climbing, birding expeditions to scuba diving, kayaking to surfing. As a yoga lover I had their gorgeous yoga pavilion to myself for practicing. The staff is amazing and is detailed and caring in their arrangements for all the area has to offer for experiences.

A great getaway that is easy to get to
The staff and owners make this experience top notch. From the Friday night salsa party to the Tuesday BBQ on the beach, there are special touches that make one feel at home. Excellent food throughout our stay. You are in a jungle so be prepared for no A/C, and loud critters. The world is very alive around you.

Well I have to say that after initial surprise of being in a jungle beach hotel, this place could not have been more terrific! The staff is great, you really feel like you are hanging with friends. Amazing location where you can hear and see different birds and monkeys. (Even a sloth). The pool is perfect with a nice hot tub attached. There is a yoga studio, risen in the air with a spa attached. Traci is the massage therapist who is extremely talented and her style is not to be missed. Make appt asap since she books quickly. Also dinner is 5 star quality and hosted by Toby who is the owner. The guys at the bar are really cool and treat you like friends not guests. 🍹Drinks are good as well 😎👍🏻 Just note: there is no AC and you are in a jungle so bring bug spray. The roads are gravel and not in great shape, other than that, Toby; I thank you and staff for letting us be part of this experience. 😀👍🏻 Also: you MUST take the Chocalate tour. It's not what you think and a 100 times better.

Die Iguana Lodge ist eine Family Affair, man fühlt sich manchmal ein bisschen wie ein Eindringling und dadurch isoliert. Kann ich bei einem so kleinen Hotel nicht verstehen und wäre für mich ein Grund, nicht mehr hinzugehen. Der Strand direkt vor der Anlage ist zum Schwimmen nicht wirklich geeignet. Frühstück sehr gut, Lunch und Abendessen soso lala. Wer in den Cocovado will, muss etwas zwei bis drei Stunden auf schlechter Strasse hinfahren.

Iguanas and sloths for company at breakfast !
We had two nights relaxing at the Iguana lodge to recover from our spell in the jungle. The place was beautifully relaxed. the gardens spacious and there was never a sense of being crowded. The food was wonderful and the staff very attentive. Kayaks, body boards, surfboards available for a go. wear factor 50 and a top if you are going out for a while though.

Comfort in the Osa Peninsula
This is a delightful lodge-type hotel in a remote location, that offers high standards of comfort, food and recreational activities, largely focused on the natural environment. The nature watching trips run by Sidnar are excellent and can be highly recommended. It is a tropical location and the lack of air conditioning only adds to the pleasure of a stay there.

Best hotel in the area!
Great hotel, awesome grounds. Beach was just beautiful, with covered hammocks, and lounge chairs on the sand. Great pool. Great food, loved the beach-facing bar. Free kayaks, paddle/body/surfboards. Awesome hiking and beaches nearby. Close to Matapalo and Carate. Must stop at bar just before you get to Matapalo! Monkeys, birds, critters everywhere. Owners were super nice and staff was super gracious. Thank you Ana, Stephania, Denise, and everyone there!! Highly recommend. Also, shout out to our sweet and knowledgeable horseback guide, Adonis. Loved it all!

If you love the beach, this is the place
Incredible location and atmosphere ..... right on a sandy beach on the Osa Peninsula gulf side... calm, warm water, exotic landscape not to mention a serene pool setting out of architectural digest. Lots of activities available in area like kayaking, waterfall repelling, horseback riding, surfing (lessons), boat excursions or just walking miles on beautiful sandy beach. Combine that with really comfortable rooms, excellent staff and superb cuisine and you have the ultimate summer (beach) camp experience for adults.

sehr schönes Hotelgelände mit freundlichem Personal, viele Tiere auf dem Gelände zu beobachten (Aras, Brüllaffen, Leguane)

Try to avoid this cheap hostel!
We had many hotels during our stay in Costa Rica (all same prica range) and this was by far the worst! Bad mantained and really old rooms. We felt rather like in a cheap hostel than in a hotel. Addotionally the Wi-Fi isn't free: They will charge 15 $ for the so called "free" internet.
