Safaritenten in Sri Lanka

'We spoilt ourselves with 2 nights in Ahas Pokuna. This is a truly special place. Greeted at the road side by Arun our naturalist guide we were immediately enveloped in the forest following a footpath (truly the only access) leading us up the the very exclusive camp. We were the only guest and had the middle of three tent suites/tree houses. The beautifully maintained grounds of the camp are full of birds and the staff are always attentive. The food is excellent and plentiful. Arun was delightful...

'We really enjoyed our 2 night stay, rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. We enjoyed the pool and the safaris organized by the lodge, who supplies rangers in addition to drivers in the safari vehicles. We opted to add an optional safari to increase our chances of seeing the elephants and leopards. Excellent staff, Sasha was very helpful, Venura in the restaurant was great and so was our Ranger Amida. '

'Vriendelijk personeel die willen dat je je goed voelt maar dit komt soms wel wat opdringerig over. Wij hadden een luxe tent geboekt, maar vergis je niet dit is geen luxe. Het is echt back to basic (zonder wifi) de tenten zijn bovendien erg verouderd met overal kleine gaatjes tot gevolg waardoor spinnen en insecten onvermijdbaar zijn. De tenten zijn ook zeer krap en de “badkamer” moet dringend vernieuwd worden, wij hebben ons hier niet willen douchen omdat deze te vies waren. Prijs kwaliteit...

'It started with a bad surprise, for which I would blame Hotels.com as they showed pictures of the Mahoora tents, but booked us in the Big Game tent… a lower standard. Once that issue was cleared, we truely enjoyed our stay… the Mahoora tent is amazing, in a stunning environment. Service is great, candle dinner is amazing… and the safari organization was perfect.'

'Overall a cool experience, we stayed in the sky nest. It is important to know that the road getting to resort is very very rough, essentially off-roading in a jeep, maybe even worse than safari. I wouldn’t recommend older adults or young children or anyone with a disability. The resort had kind staff, great evening bbq and early morning safari packed breakfast. Our only negative was that the safari guide booked through them was not good, of note he was not their usual safari guide on staff. We...

'From start to finish the staff made our trip perfect. Incredibly friendly, attentive, always looking to do something a little extra to make your stay unforgettable. Incredible food and accommodation (with hot running water and full comfort!) in a romantic setting surrounded by nature, private safaris in stunning Yala National Park led by guides who are passionate about the animals in the park - we saw countless birds, water buffalo, lizards, a wild boar family, even a sloth bear!'

'This is a primitive camping site. Yes the tent is large and there is an outdoor toilet and shower which is delightful but this is still just a camp site. No other facilities. There is no A/C and it can get quite hot in the tent. We had a wonderful candle lit dinner by the chef who also lit us a fire which was beautiful under the stars. Some holes in the tent need to be fixed due to mosquitos. '

'På ingen måder pengene værd. “Luksusteltet” var. Meget slidt, der lugtede meget grimt. Der kom en tynd stråle koldt vand ud af bruseren, ingen toiletartikler. Maden var det kedeligste vi har fået på alle 3 uger. Vi så en elefant, et par vandbøfler og en ugle på en 7-timers Safari. (I Yale nationalpark så vi Bjørn, 2 leoparder, elefanter, masser af vandbøfler og en krokodille på 3 timer) Alt i alt spild af penge!'

'I am not sure that it exist. We could not find it. The guideline was wrong. No one answered the telephone. We contacted Hotels.com. They could not get in touch with Yala Wilderness Safari Camp. They tried to cancel it for us, but Yala Wilderness could not care and invoiced us anyway. Stay away from this accommandation. Hotels.com should not include them, with such a non-existing guideline to find the location and when they don´t answer their phones, then what should on do ?'

'This property is actually non existenting and a scam. No such property exists. Can not reach the hotel by phone number given. Expedia has not followed this up in a timely manner and we are awaiting a refund of our money.'
