Nice cozy cabin, but...
It was a cozy cute place that was quiet and the stars are just beautiful outside. The fire pit was great! The inside had clean bedding and clean bathroom toilest and shower.. but.. underneath the kitchen sink stunk horrible and was dirty. The kitchen drawers were filthy. Only 2 burners worked on the stove.. there was dirt and dead bugs in the corners on the porch. The furniture hadnt been dusted in forever. The one bedroom stunk like mold. The window frames were black with dirt and mold.The baseboards were very dirty. The mattresses are old and sink in the middle. I think they just need a deep cleaning and some upgrades and it would be a Great place to stay!!

I have five properties up north and the vast majority of my guests are truly a a great experience! Garry damaged the property and left it in a condition unlike any guest has done in the past. With 350+ 4 and 5 star reviews from VRBO and other National rental Companies he should not be allowed to rent vacation rentals. Thanks David

Rustic Man Cabin
From the outside it looks nice and cozy. Inside couch is balanced on blocks, there is no where to put dry unfridgerated food except on porch. A low watt lightbulb hangs from the dining table lamp. It is very dark in the cabin except for the kitchen. The bathroom is ok but toilet is very low. On the upside the backyard fire ring and space was great for hanging out. There were plenty of utensils and pans. This is definetly a fishing/snowmobiling man cabin. The curtains were nicely made. However, our biggest challenge was staying warm bc the heaters didn't work. Plus the owner didn't respond until the next day as we were ready to depart. Communication was a bit of a challenge. My adult kids thought it was great but I like cabins with a little more female up to date touches.

Perfect for hunting fishing. Was really Clean also for a cabin, was a couple problems with ants by the sink but nothing too crazy it’s a cabin so if ants is all your dealing with your doing alright. Grill was little dirty also from lack of matience but other than that great place to stay

If you want remote and rustic, this is it!
If you are looking for an escape from everything, this is the perfect place! Nestled into the woods, you get all the privacy you desire, and it’s a nice centralized location (within an hour from many great attractions). We didn’t plan on spending much time in the cabin, so we didn’t mind that it was sparse on the cooking/eating utensils. Only thing we wished it had was a bathtub if you have littles (or in my case a handicapped son who cannot stand to bathe himself), but we made it work! The price point was the biggest seller for us, and for the comfort of everyone having there own room, it worked great! Thanks for opening up your cabin to our family, we had a wonderful time!

Good, not great
This cabin is located among the trees and very secluded. It's cozy for that reason alone. It is old, and several minor things could stand for simple replacement or repair. Only 2 electrical burners work on the stove top, the cabin is dark and there is minimal lighting there, one tiny bulb above the dining table isn't adequate. We tried to do some puzzles and simply couldn't see well enough to be effective. The cabin was SUPER musty when we arrived, one of us in the group has allergies and ended up with a migraine the first night of our stay as a result of musty/mildew smells. After leaving the windows open for a full 24 hours, it smelled some better but was still prevalent. Overall, the setting and charm of the cabin is wonderful, the shade is awesome and the fire pit is amazing as well as the picnic table out back. Specific step by step directions to the property should be included in the rental details as the GPS doesn't like the address and turned us around quite a bit. The property is easily missed due to it's remote location. 20 minutes from Manistee shopping/dining, 10 minutes from trail heads and boat launch make it's location ideal if those are of interest for your group!

Wonderful seclusion
The Pines Hideaway is a fantastic house in the woods, with all of the charm of a cabin plus a full kitchen, indoor bath, 3 bedrooms and plenty of gas heat. Situated in the midst of Manistee National Forest, this was the perfect base for day trips exploring the woods, Tippy Dam, and Dublin General Store. There are close neighbors nearby, but extremely quiet and friendly are they. If you love the outdoors but love the indoors, too, The Pines is for you. We will be back.

This is a great up North cabin that is exactly what one would expect. The cabin does need some repair such as globes for the light, back door doesn't shut properly, kitchen cabinet doors don't shut well, etc. I'll give the same advice I've given all up North cabins... bring your own egg skillet. Dave has thought of everything for his guests though. Firewood ready to light in the pit, a little bit of those items you might have forgotten like salt and pepper, a little shampoo in the shower. This is a really nice cabin and host.

Cabin is very nice, clean and well furnished. There is two grills and a large fire pit in back with a picnic table and chairs around the fire pit. There is a nice indoor gas fireplace. This is the third time we've stayed there and I have no complaints. :-)

This property is the quintessential up-north house! It's located in the middle of the woods, but there's still cell service. Lake Michigan is close-by if you want to do beach activities. Overall, we have no complaints at all.

After I sent a reminder 28 hrs prior to departure, ppty owner sent us a short message regarding the key code. Everything worked except we never could find out how to turn on the outside light. We took our bass boat with us and it was a challenge to get in and out of the property. House was a little dusty and could have used an airing out but this is all part of the up north experience. Ppty is right up the hill from Tippy Dam pond and 4 minutes away from the landing. No deal breakers, I'd do it again.

Nice large fire pit, beautiful 3 season porch to read in. ** Location of cabin is hard to find, can’t use GPS have to take Snyder RD down to Cravens RD and all the way and take a left.

The property cannot be found by using map quest and that's a problem..keys to the property are in a lockbox and a code is required so be sure you contact the owner. The house is adequate, clean met our needs. It is an older house than it appears in the ad and the bedrooms need individual heaters which was not a problem for us.

We enjoyed our experience at this cabin! It's close proximity to Manistee National Forest and Tippy Dam/Manistee River to hike around. Also not that far of a drive if want to check out Manistee or Cadillac. We enjoyed the marine theme of the cabin! We enjoyed the remotes for the room for light, fan, and fire place. Water heater may need to get looked at as the water fluctuated hot and cold while showering. Also the outdoor posts need new light bulbs. Make sure to ask for specific directions to get to the cabin as the GPS may give the wrong direction of roads can't access unless an ORV. We look to enjoy visiting this cabin again!

If you have time, visit nearby Fifth Avenue Beach: beautiful water, clean restrooms, pier, lighthouse, and concession stand. Drove through Petoskey to Harbor Springs and visited the spectacular Tunnel of Trees, via M-119. Beautiful, scenic drive overlooking Lake Michigan. Amazing!

Had a great time fishing in the area. This is a nicely placed older cottage
We had a good time fishing in the area. The place was a little older but clean and furnished with most essential items. We arrived late in the evening shortly after storms had moved through the area. We experienced arriving with no power at the cottage. Called Dave and he was very accommodating and offered solutions for the situation. We decided to stay the night anyway and wait to see if the power was restored in the morning. Dave called me 1st thing in the morning to inform us that he spoke with the power company and to keep us informed. We went out for breakfast and when we returned the power had been restored. Nothing anyone could do, but Dave was very attentive to our situation that we arrived too. Thanks for answerIng our late call and being helpful to insure we had a good stay considering the circumstances. We hope to return to Dave’s place when we plan future trips to the area.
