Poor experience
Very disappointing. No parking available, room on 3rd floor but no assistance with cases, toilet seat broken, toilet flush handle broken. Staff were pleasant but seemed inexperienced with no apparent senior supervision. Very expensive for what was offered. Would not visit again.

Disgusting Place AVOID at all costs
appalled from start to finish the female staff were rude and unhelpful the place was filthy and no food served as suggested. breaskfast was supposed to be served at 8am yet at 8.45 still all locked up and staff in no hurry to prepare breakfast for guests. when it was eventually put out there was just 1 plate of burnt croissants, watery yogurt in a dirty bowl with a side bowl of sloppy substance they suggested was fruit.

No uniqueness at all. Very shabby hotel. Cleanliness very very poor. Noise all night, church bells, taxi rank, night club revellers, binned at 5am. Checked out after 1 night and we’d paid for 3. Sheets had to be changed as they were soiled. Owner was non helpful. Never ever would I stay there again. Still trying to get my money back.

Sorry to read this but the noise in the town we can't help but have asked the taxi ranks to try and get their customers be be quieter. We are in a busy seaside town and we can't control the outside noise but the council have been informed. The sheets where offered to be changed and we were told to leave it.

Amazing room so big and bathroom was good size. Very clean, and well equipped, Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall excellent value for money most definitely worth a visit

Nice place
The place itself is great and kept to a very good standard but it’s noisy outside. Bells mark every hour and they’re loud which doesn’t make for a good nights sleep.

Due to staff shortages we did do a complimentary breakfast . The showers had been fixed but the guest before must of twisted the shower the wrong way again. We have had the plumber out again for this issue.

2 night stay.
Good location, a little bit of noise from the street into the early hours, but then it was a bank holiday weekend, so be expected. Room very good ...a few little issues but not anything to raise concerns about. Just general attention to detail (loose toilet seat). Room very warm but a fan was provided and so wasn't too much of a problem. All in all a very pleasent stay and would use again.

Great little find - great location.
Great little find. Visited on the bank holiday 29/08. Upon booking and arrival was information about live music / disco, we was fine with that. However we were not disturbed due to music or other surrounding venues considering the bank holiday (travelling With a 6yo & 3yo). We Stayed in Chesi family room, very spacious and clean with plenty of room. Hotel staff very informative and a complimentary continental breakfast was a nice touch the following morning. Ideal location for all nearby attractions as all a stone throw away. Also arrived early and bags were stored in the office so we could go and enjoy the beach prior to check in. Would visit again no doubt.

Was made to believe music would be played to 12! Understood that at booking now 1.30 music still playing with kids in room right above dance floor! Do make the rules and ignore them! Also was told kids could stay up in til 12 to be told they couldn't nd had to go to room at 10

On check in we remind guests of the music at the weekends. midnight to 1am. For the safety of the children as we can get very busy we ask them to leave the bar at 9pm. We extended it to 10pm for you on this night..... Sorry to read your review

Very pleasurable stay. Immaculately done out.
What a Gem. We were taken care of from start to finish, had everything we needed. The place has been beautifully done out. Stayed in the white horse room. Just one criticism. Please ask the Gulls to be quieter so early !!

Great Stay
Great Location to beach, shops and bars. Clean and comfy room and done the job for a couple of days. However, Could hear alot of the others room especially the showers and outside noise but sometimes that can't be helped. Parking was a 2 min walk away with free parking after 6pm.

Weymouth weekend
The hotel room was spotless ,brand new and recently decorated . The staff were helpful,we got there earlier than check in time and they put our bags in our room whilst we were out . The hotel do tell you they have bands at the weekend but they stopped at midnight ,so no problems for us but the town clock strikes so you always no what time it is ! We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. It's right in the middle of town so that was handy ,paid parking about 500 metres away (yellow lines around the pub) . The only problem I had was trying to read the code to get in when the pub is shut ,needed my phone torch and glasses to read code and punch the code into the lock ,took about 3 times , especially after a couple of drinks . But if you crack the code it's a great spot to stay

Exactly what we wanted.
Hotel room was perfect, clean, looked brand new. Beds comfy. Unfortunately very loud guests coming in late, was told off by manager. But it is above a pub so a little expected. Staff, live music and bar all excellent.

We had a nice stay was a tad noisy but they advised that upon booking and again in the room due to having bands on. Big, clean spacious room continental breakfast included is basic but addiquaite.

Our first impressions of the room were excellent. Beautifully decorated and very clean but both beds were so incredibly uncomfortable, rock hard not just firm. We arrived at 8 o’clock and the pub had already shut their kitchen. We were told that if we were going out then to come back via the side door entrance and through the coded door, which we were given. The staff couldn’t say what time they would be closing this apparently depended on paying customers. When we returned to the hotel after finding dinner elsewhere at 10pm it was shut. We followed the directions back to the room through a pitch black back yard and unlit fire escape, into corridors, which seem to be hit and miss whether the lights worked. There was a warning about noise from the pub. Not an issue, however no warning of surrounding noise. Like the clock tower striking every half hour, neighbouring night clubs, followed by their patrons having a drunken screaming fight under our window. The windows, being single pane didn’t block any noise. Probably perfect for those wanting to stay in town for the clubs but really not for families at all.

Very sorry to hear of your experiance at The Golden Lion. We can't do anything about the town clock, nor the noise out in the street at night unfortunatley this is out of our control. We are in a town.The kitchen we closed early due to an elecrtical fault so for the safety of the staff and customers we closed it early. Again sorry for your experianece

Second stay
Second time.wenhabe stayed at the Golden Lion. Was just as goos as the first. Room was lovely and clean we were in room 4 Kings Statue. Comfy bed. We stayed during the heatwave and we asked for a fan which was no problem and really made a difference. It was brilliant staying this time with no restrictions as they had live music on in the pub which was brilliant. Will always stay here when in Weymouth. Great location (5 mins walk to the beach) great service why stay anywhere else.

Room was clean and tidy but unable to have a shower as water so hot would scald you. Mentioned twice but didnt seem very interested to sort so could not have a shower.

We are very sorry for the shower issues. We tried to resolve this in house. We managed to get the plumber in and they all have been fixed now. So now scolding customers anymore.
