Not a hotel, a "horribletel"

I would like to begin by clarifying for those who are not familiar with the French reality that this establishment is NOT an official hotel. It is rather destined for those who are beneficiaries of government's assistance for temporary housing, what is known in the U.S. as section 8. Calling this place a "hotel" is undoubtedly a misuse of the term: the place is filthy beyond qualification. The carpet is blanketed with scores of large and smelly stains,; the room which is supposedly meant for four people can actually house two people, no air conditioning in the room, which made it unbearable during the seething hot summer days, the sink is separated from the restroom, the TV , the phone and the microwave do not work. The place is so dirty that I could not even invite my visitors to the room; we had to stay in the lobby where the air conditioner was not functioning. Further, as guests we had to share our room with other unwanted guests : ccockroaches. Cleaning is done only once a week. Even though the staff is friendly and very helpful, this is not a place for guests who are looking for a basic comfort.
