Very pleasant stay, friendly staff, nice breakfast. I enjoyed the pool and sauna. My room was very spacious and had a nice view on the peace gardens. Highly recommended.

Mooi en net hotel. Ik had een heel mooi uitzicht op de peace gardens. Grote kamer. Vriendelijk personeel. Heel aangenaam verblijf.

waar is hier de ingang?
Geplaatst op 23 mrt. 2018 op HotelsIngang van hotel in beetje lastig te vinden. Is namelijk aan zijkant. Op het aangegeven adres zit een restaurant (niet van hotel) en klaarblijkelijk wordt daar vaker naar hotelingang gevraagd.
Inchecken ging heel snel en adequaat. Kamer was prima. Goede douche en bed. Eten in restaurant van hotel was ok, maar niet echt bijzonder. Ontbijt was voldoende

Conveniently situated in city centre walkable to shops & many restaurant choices nearby. Decent bar area. Helpful staff. Nice spa & pool. Car park nearby v short walk.

There was not 24/7 front desk reception, as advertised. I called at 12:15am because my air conditioning (also listed as an amenity) and TV were not working.
Towels had stains on them as well.

Stayed many time for the snooker at the crucible so it’s the perfect location. The spa and swimming pool are now not included as not part of hotel anymore. So not happy I wanted to have a quick swim and had to cough up £10 each day. The pool and changing rooms are looking very tired as is the seating area in the bar. A refurb is hopefully not far away. In general though it’s a nice hotel and would stay again

I cannot review this property as, despite numerous confirmation bookings, they did not honour my reservation. Allegedly there were problems wtih some of the rooms, which they had ample opportunity to communicate to me prior to arrival but instead they waited until I arrived at 8pm, kept me hanging around for over an hour without any information, then told me to go to another hotel which they had booked which was a) vastly inferior quality and b) in a terrible location, when I had chosen the Mercure for its location. They arranged transport but no other recompense. They seemed unwilling to admit their problems and had no excuse for not notifying me of the issue in advance. Had they done so I would have cancelled the booking and left Sheffield earlier in the day. But at 8pm on arrival I had few options. Also, if they knew they had problems wiht the room before my arrival they could have arranged a solution ready for my arrival rather than having to ring round to find me a room at short notice. WHilst i accept problems happen their handling of it was inexcusable and unprofessional and thoughtless. I was considerably inconvenienced, they were disingenuous and uninformative and ill-prepared. I will never stay at a Mercure again.
