Appartement was niet goed schoongemaakt. Op het toilet zat urine tussen de deksel en het scharnier. Gordijnen waren niet schoon. Zagen slordig uit. De gordijnen bij de slaapkamer hingen los. Kon niet gesloten worden. Rookmelder was niet compleet, zat alleen een dekseltje aan plafond. Televisie was buiten werking. Was nog niet aangepast aan digitaal, vertelde de eigenaar. Heeft hij niet vooraf gemeld. Was vervelend dat we hier zelf achter moesten komen. Hij nam niet op toen we laatste avond belde met een vraag. Op de dag van vertrek, waren we nog even gaan ontbijten. Toen we terugkwamen, was hij het bed aan het verschonen. Dacht dat we al weg waren. Had zeker de koffers gemist die midden in de kamer stonden. Er hingen twee grote lampen op, eentje compleet met lampenkap, de andere bestond alleen uit een geraamte. Er lag een vieze handdoek onder het bed. Prullenbak in de keuken was niet schoongemaakt. Eigenaar reageerde onprofessioneel op opmerkingen van onze kant. Het betaalde bedrag stond in geen verhouding tot wat ze op de site aanbieden.

Wonderful stay at Valckenierstraat 3
The personal touch of the Host picking us up and bringing us to our VRBO and then offered the service to take us to the airport was perfect for us. Everything was provided in our apartment. All we had to do was get some groceries. Even a bottle of champagne for our arrival and some fruit. There was all the utensils we needed. The location is perfect. Steps away from the Metro and only three stops to Central station. 1/2 hour walk and that was beautiful. Also steps away from an amazing bakery and cafe and a convenience store. Also about 200 yards away was a great grocery store. Just loved those amenities. There were neat touches to the space and I would definitely recommend this. And having the host and his wife live upstairs made the place feel homey. Excellent stay.

Perfect place for a perfect vacation with my Sister
This is such a charming apartment in an excellent location. It is steps from the Metro and tram, so we could be anywhere in the city within 10 minutes. We enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city, and as soon as we got back to the apartment we could close the door behind us and relax in this quiet space. The kitchen is adorable and functional, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water, and the beds were so comfy. The owner made the check-in process easy and he was responsive. Thank you, Rich, for sharing this lovely space with us. We would stay here again, for sure!

Small but comfortable
We booked fairly late and it was not exactly what we wanted but we enjoyed our stay. Near the university and subway ( surprisingly very quiet) and we would have liked be closer to old town. Must say they may need a new cleaner. Not as spotless as we would have expected and the drain in the bathroom clogged and caused a bit of a flood. Owner was exceptionally available and helpful even though he was out of town. He addressed all our problems immediately. Also he took us to the airport when we left for a very reasonable fee. Overall it was a very good property and an enjoyable stay.

Sweet studio in convenient location

We had a great stay in a wonderful street level apartment. Richard was very helpful with recommendations including a ride to the airport. It was a hot week, and there was not much air flow in the place. That was our only concern. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful location and beautiful flat!
The location was ideal and the flat was beautiful! We stayed with our family of four and there was plenty of room. The owner lives upstairs and is very responsive and great to communicate with. We loved our stay and would stay there again!

Stayed in this apartment for a week in mid-May. Was excellent for public transport. I think the photos portray apartment when it was first converted from the garage. Found apartment to be in need of a good clean and food left in fridge and in cupboard from previous guests. There is no access to fresh air apart from the front door and I was loath to leave this open as the area felt a little edgy (drug rehab place over the road). The TV didn't work despite Richards efforts to hook it up to his wife's WIFI. The pub next door and the cafe next to it were good and provided good meals. Supermarket close enough. I wouldn't return.

Wonderful ground floor apartment
Richard welcomed us at the front door on arrival. He's a kind, personable host, highly efficient, and an excellent communicator. The apartment was perfect for three of us for a 4 day stay. There are plenty of amenities! Richard has thought of everything, including welcome drinks and snacks on arrival. And..You'll love the shower and heated bathroom floor! Located within a 2 minute walk from metro and tram, you can't ask for a better location. Thank you Richard for a great Amsterdam experience!

Greatest host, greatest location
Rich was undoubtedly the best host. When he picked us up at the airport we became instant friends. Not only did he give us good advice about where to go in the city, he helped us arrange museum visits, and took us on two fabulous tours to nearby sites. The apartment's location couldn't be better located for seeing the sights of Amsterdam. We're walkers, but if you aren't, the unit is less than a half block from the metro station. A very nice supermarket is close by as well. And, not to be missed is the neighborhood bakery -- croissants were melt-in-your- mouth. Our only complaint was about the weather, but it was February. We'll come back when it's not raining!

We loved our stay at Richards place. He was very accommodating letting us drop our bags early so we could start our adventures in Amsterdam!! He left us some fresh fruit and yogurt and a few beers to start our evening. He gave great restaurant recommendations as well. The apt was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed!!! I would highly recommend Richards place!!!! Even gave us a great deal for an early morning ride to the airport!!!! We would definitely stay again if we go back to beautiful Amsterdam!!!!

Richard met us at the door with a great smile and lots of recommendations, and a fridge with food for us! The place is clean and comfortable! The location is great, close to the action but quiet. Our hosts Richard and Thea were superb, friendly and informative. Couldn't be better! Local trams, metro and shopping very convenient within a few short blocks. This is right off the metro and tram stops so convenient to get to. The host was very helpful and the place was nicely furnished. It's a bit loud because it's the ground floor but we ran a fan at night and had no problems sleeping. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely Stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Richard and Thea's property - it is perfectly centrally located, about a 2 minute walk from the Weesperplein transit stop and ~15 minute walk to main attractions in Amsterdam. The unit is spacious, clean, and comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Richard and Thea were lovely hosts, very quick with communication, thorough, and thoughtful. They stocked the fridge with a few essentials (and a few treats!) and we really appreciated all of their efforts. Will definitely look to stay here again on a future trip to Amsterdam, thank you so much!

Rich provided us with food and drinks in the fridge during our stay. I have stayed in many different rentals and this by far was the best experience I have had. Rich answered any questions I had quickly, and showed so much hospitality. The place was as shown and described. The location was great and everything was easy to get to via the metro. Would highly recommend this rental!!

Great Location
Location: I rather enjoyed the location, it is a very safe area and many things are within a 20-minute walk. A Weesperplein metro stop is literally a minute's walk away, along with a tram and bus stop. You can purchase a public transportation pass for a 24 or 72 or a card. All passes work for all public transportation within Amsterdam. The ride to Central Station is only a couple of stops away. It's a super easy public transportation system. Lots of eating spots and cafes within 15-minutes of the apartment. Apartment: The apartment is as described and although I am a solo traveler the space is good for a couple or small family. It rained off and on during my two-week stay and I found no issues with water getting in the apartment as some who stayed during renovations noted. The fridge is great, as I have stayed in places where I was not able to use the refrigerator. There is also a microwave and a nice gas oven for either heating up food or cooking respectively. The heating system warms up the place nicely. There is a washing machine but no dryer, I found this to be very common throughout Europe. There is a rack to hang your clothes for drying or you can take them to a laundromat that is about a 6-minute walk away. I used the washer but also did a load at the laundromat which included English directions on the machines. The WIFI was good and you are able to stream or cast your device to the television. Host: There were some minor issues that were handled immediately by Richard. He and his family live upstairs which allows for relatively quick response to any questions or fixes. After two weeks I can say it was an overall easy stay which left me feeling satisfied with my decision to stay in this area of Amsterdam and at this specific home.

A perfect apartment, beautifully renovated & comfortable, close to everything we wanted to visit. Fabulous supermarket 3 mins away and metro stops less than 5 mins. The shower room is nothing short of amazing…took a lot of persuasion to get my husband out of there! Thank you Rich & Thea…recommend you every time

A great homebase in Amsterdam.
We spent 5 nights in this quaint, little apartment; and could not have been more pleased. In no particular order, location, host, cleanliness, and wifi would seem to be among the most important features of any VRBO. This apartment had them all. It is steps from the tram, and the metro. It is a 10 minute walk to the center of the city's center, and Albert Cyup Market, and only a few minutes more to the museum square. Our host, Richard, was always quick to respond to all inquiries, consistantly available, and provided us with some fresh fruit, and a refridgerator stocked for breakfast (as well as a coctail or two). The apartment felt well cleaned, and the wifi was fast and reliable. we absolutley recommend this apartment, and this host.

Best little secret in town
My friend and I loved this place. It had everything we needed, and Rich was super helpful. He was even kind enough to to leave a bottle of champagne for us. The amenities were great. We couldn't have asked for better. We will definitely be looking here before we look elsewhere when we return.

Very enjoyable & charming!
Richard is a great host for this spacious and very clean unit. He answered our texts immediately and was there to greet us at the door and give us a tour. The apartment met all of our needs, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was larger than most. Especially loved the warm bathroom floor. The metro station was around the corner as was a grocery store and the university. Taxi driver had a hard time mapping the location from the airport so I suggest Googling it beforehand. Thanks Richard, we'll be back!

Perfect spot for a quick Amsterdam get away!
Right next to the metro, this was a perfect spot for a quick jaunt to Amsterdam. The apartment was super comfortable, well furnished, and has a great shower! I could see us staying there for several days as the kitchen was perfect to make meals if we needed to. Great neighborhood close to coffee, pizza, bars, and grocery stores. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect place!
This apartment is clean, spacious, stylish, cozy, and has all the amenities you need! Comfortable bed and great bathroom/shower! It is just slightly outside the main 'ring' of the AMS city center, but literally steps away is a metro, so getting to/from the center and anywhere really, was so easy! The host Rich was friendly, and attentive, he always responded quickly to messages, etc. Check in/out was easy. The place is just as it looks in the picture! The apartment and host were great! We would definitely stay here again! Thanks again Rich, great to meet you and this was a great place for us! Be well!
