'My wife and I stayed 4 night in this updated 1700s cottage that was clean and cozy. I’m an early riser so I enjoyed the early mornings by the fire pit and my wife slept in. We visited a lot of the area places ie Strasburg railroad, sight and sound theatre which was amazing! 'I've been driving by The Shoe for over 40 years and finally took the opportunity to spend a weekend there with life-long friends. It.Was.Fantastic!!!! It's cozy, cool, creative, and full of history! We were thankful for rainy weather because we did not want to leave! Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU to the owners and host for preserving this iconic York County site and for the perfect place to have a mini-vacay with my girls!'

'The apartment was the perfect size for for our family of four and our dog. The kitchen was well appointed for cooking a few meals at home to save some money. The bathroom is large and well laid out. If you're looking for ice cream, check out Fox Meadows creamery, a short walk away or drive a few minutes to Hayloft ice cream. At Hayloft, you can feed ducks and fish in the adjacent pond. Achenbachs bakery, just down the road, has some good long johns.'

'My husband and I had another wonderful stay on Carol's property in May. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when we are in the area. From the moment of our arrival, we are welcomed by Carol and her delicious scones and fresh eggs from her chickens. We feel relaxed as soon as we open the door. 'Very comfortable and attractive home away from home. I was there for 31 days . From snow melt to blooming Magnolias and daffodils ! A great private location with trees all around . Plenty of parking. Comfortable furniture. Fireplace . Very little traffic on the road infront. Recommended.'

'Great little place for an overnight stay. The cottage is as cute as can be. It’s on the same property close to the main house but is private enough. Sure, no running water and the shower is tiny but it was a fun, cozy cottage. Totally worth the stay and the riverside bar/restaurant in Port Deposit was fantastic as well as a pub along the Main Street. Live music at both places. Thanks for hosting us!'

'Myself, my wife, and our dog stayed the weekend while I was in town for a seminar and, truthfully, I can't think of a single thing about this property that wasn't wonderful. It's located close to everything in town without being in town itself. It's right off a main road, but the cottage is set back enough so that it is not obtrusive. 'I was looking for a romantic getaway for my hubby and I and all I can say is WOW, did I find it! We relaxed under a blanket on the oversized porch and drank our morning coffee while overlooking the endless river views. The house literally looks like an Italian villa. My favorites were the castle-like doors and heated marble floor in the bathroom! Josh was a great host and we appreciated the goodies he left for us. We will be back!!'

'This is a beautiful home with beautiful views in a quiet area of Strasburg. We loved the sun room and porch views. We enjoyed watching the many birds in the area. One thing that might need to be considered before booking is that there are very steep stairs in the home and an unlevel pathway to the front door. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the right home for you.'
