One night in Venice before our cruise
We came one day early to see Venice before our cruise. Took the ATVO Fly bus from the airport to Plaza de la Roma & walked our luggage across the bridge (not fun -- but doable.... and much cheaper than any other option....) Once over the bridge, the hotel was very close & in a decent spot. Room was ready at 10 AM -- which was a huge blessing after our long ’red eye’ flight. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Rooms were not your standard hotel chain rooms -- they were old style European, with real shutters, old bathroom fixtures, plenty of closet space, etc. We did not hear the church bells in the morning as others have complained about in other reviews. We found out later that our room was farther from the bells. Plus, we were very tired after our trip and touring! After a nice, late breakfast we lugged our luggage back over the bridge to the People Mover to the cruise ship. All in all, the hotel met our needs in a good way.

Very convenient, quiet hotel.
We picked this hotel for it’s close proximity to the train station and it also turned out to be very easy to get to from the cruise ship. From the cruise ship terminal, take the People Mover (1 euro each) to P. Roma, turn left and follow the signs for the Ferrovia water bus stop, walk past the train station and you will see the Banco San Marco straight ahead. The hotel is to your left through a narrow passage between the green awnings of a restaurant. If you look up, you will see Hotel Abbazia written on the side of one of the buildings with the green awnings. The hotel is then on your left just about 50 meters ahead. And there is only one bridge you have to cross with your luggage! The hotel was clean and quiet (the church bells were not bad at all) and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definetely return!

Das Hotel Abbazzia ist auf grund seiner Lage perfekt für einen kurzen Venedigbesuch.
Das Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen, aber trotzdem ruhig in einer Seitengasse. Der Service ist perfekt, die Zimmer sauber und das Frühstück gut. Es ist sehr gut für einen Kurzbesuch in Venedig geeignet.
