'So this is an apartment complex not a hotel. I did turn up very early and after enjoying breakfast in the insight restaurant was accommodated 4 hrs before the check-in time. Reception staff are professional and friendly. The apartment is really nice and overall i was very happy with my stay, there was a couple of minor maintenance issues i found with the room but nothing i need to bring to the attention of the staff. 'The Bannister Hotel is very conveniently situated for access to Witwatersrand University, where I was doing some research in archives. 'Cozy and comfortable place. Easily accessible. Three issues to improve on: 1. Despite the fact that I had booked 3 weeks earlier, the housekeeper did not have my confirmation. Although it was eventually sorted, it leaves one to wonder. 2. Wi-Fi was only accessible in the main house and not in the rooms 3. Dstv was not accessible. I had to watch crucial World cup games on my phone.'

'This place is nothing as advertised and just a disappointment all around. If you are simply looking for a bed to sleep in and nothing more then it is fine. But the rooms are old and look as though they are hardly taken care of. It felt as though I was at a distant family member's house who wasn't prepared for me to stay the night.'
