Enjoy the atmosphere in a beautiful location, near the sea with a sandy beach where you will encounter the typical rocky coast of the Algarve. Casa Carpe Diem is a modern villa, built on the edge of the Prainha resort. The villa is surrounded by coniferous trees, in a quiet place without traffic. Casa Carpe Diem is one of the last houses at the end of a dead end street. You can park in front of the door. The beach and all facilities of Prainha Village are easily accessible from the house. The resort exudes a real Portuguese atmosphere, you will still find typical older Portuguese houses and the park is well maintained. Lots of greenery, lots of flowers, space and many facilities for the children such as tennis courts, small playgrounds and a beautiful central swimming pool built on top of the rocks. Guests can use it for free. Beds and umbrellas can be rented there. There is also a beautiful outdoor swimming pool in the park just in front of the hotel. There the sunbeds are free.
From the house you can walk on Tres Irmaos beach in 20 minutes to Alvor (less than 10 minutes by car). Alvor has hardly any high-rise buildings, has a pleasant center with many restaurants; a small harbor where fish is still cleaned for the restaurants in the morning. You can make beautiful walks in the area to, for example, Praia do Veau, a trip over the rocks. At low tide you walk on the beach along all the rocks, you will find small pools of water with fish and crabs. On the beach you will find wonderful restaurants where you can enjoy a relaxed meal, while the children can play within sight of the beach. The atmosphere is jovial and still very welcoming to tourists. At the end of the day there is often a nice cooling breeze and that always makes a visit to the beach a party.
The resort has a shop, an Italian restaurant and two more excellent restaurants (one near the central swimming pool in the rocks and next to it Canico; a restaurant that you reach with a small elevator through the rocks and has a magnifique view of the sea). Various trips are possible to the famous Monchique with the sources of eternal youth, Zoo Marine with the dolphin show, Lagos with a visit to the beautiful rocks by boat or a walk through the ancient center. For golf enthusiasts, there are several golf courses within a distance of 5 km. The daredevils can still go to a highly professional go-kart track near Lagos, 15 km from the Resort.

What makes Casa Carpe Diem so special?

For the owners it is the most special place (we have been coming there since 1992!) and most beautiful place on the Algarve; serene tranquility; a very comfortable and modern house without frills; well maintained with all the amenities needed for a wonderful vacation; beautiful saltwater pool at the house (20 square meters) and all the possibilities in the area with a very spacious sandy beach to enjoy. A place to love.

The house is managed during the season by Pena Property in Lagos . If you have any questions regarding your reservation, please send an email in English to Pena Property. The hostess hands over the key and is the point of contact for the guests. She also takes care of the cleaning and maintenance. On arrival there is clean bed linen and a set of towels for each guest. For stays longer than a week, the house will be cleaned again, the beds will be changed and a clean set of towels will be provided.
Additional cleaning and/or bed linen/towels are available upon request at an additional cost.

In 2021 a 2G and 5G has been installed in Casa Carpe Diem. This makes it possible to use fast WiFi and do video conferences. The costs are €30 per week.

During the season, a supermarket is open at Prainha Park where delicious fresh bread is baked every day. All basic necessities are available there. However, a 10-minute drive away is a large supermarket, Pingo Doche, and an Intermarche in Alvor. Fresh bread, fruit/vegetables, meat and fish are also available in this supermarket. In addition, there is an extensive range of soft drinks, dairy products, wine, cleaning products.
A 15-minute drive away in Portimao you will find an extensive range of supermarkets including Lidle, Continente and Pingo Doche.
A large, partly covered, shopping center Aqua Mar is a 20-minute drive away in Portimao. An extensive range of clothing and shoe stores, optician, supermarket, home furnishing stores, jeweler. Enough to see for some extensive shopping. A spacious parking garage (free) is located under the shopping center
