Als gezin reizen wij veel en proberen en houden van een beetje comfort, daarom ook de reservatie van dit 4-sterren hotel. Dit is de slechtste ervaring die we ooit hebben meegemaakt. Is zelfs geen 2 sterren waard. De foto’s komen niet overeen met de werkelijkheid. Ik noem het zelf bedrieglijk. Vergane glorie met de nadruk op vergaan ...

Terrible beds, worse food. Hotel is understaffed and the staff they have are mostly rude. The food is an absolute train wreck of grease. Turkish sauna was broken. The "thermal" water is not hot, but luke warmish. Locker room was disgusting. The property is beautiful and being wasted by imcompetent management. Stay elsewhere, eat in Monchique and stop by for a walk around the property.

It was OK, everything is stuck in the 70’s. The buffet dinner and breakfast were great, and we had a jazz pianist over dinner which was awesome. We walked down to the thermal pools €20pp extra, and they looked very uninviting, so we swam in the outdoor pool. I would not recommend and wouldn’t go again

Welcome to resort was great. Unfortunately there were too many steps to the pool to negotiate. Dinner was a buffet with limited choice but was very good. Mix up over what was booked and paid for resulted in us being presented with a bill for dinner in the restaurant which was unfortunate. Eventually restaurant manager agreed to sort out with reception. Good breakfast with lots of choice.

Il est presque scandaleux qu'un établissement 4 étoiles remplace le sommier par une simple planche d'aggloméré qui grince toute la nuit. Inconfort et bruit incessant empêchent de dormir ... c'est pourtant la fonction principale d'un hôtel. Le personnel de reception object qu'un sommier n'est pas nécessaire..... nous sommes dans un etablissement à 140 € la nuit ! Lamentable.
Sommier remplacé par une planche grossièrement découpée. Quel confort !

Si tienes mascota, mejor la dejas en tu casa.
La habitación tenía un buen tamaño, silenciosa y cómoda en general pero con pocos enchufes. La WIFI bien. El baño limpio pero algo falto de mantenimiento ¡sin enchufes! En la WEB pone que admiten mascotas y que puede suponer un cargo. No es que pueda, es que lo cobran sí o sí (20 € noche por un perro de 3 kg.) que no puede bajar al restaurante ni a la piscina abierta. Nos informan que no se puede desayunar en el exterior, dejamos el perro en la habitación y luego resultó que sí se podía.

The place is beautiful. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and tasty. I would have given it a 5 but when I called before booking I was told they have spa services available upon request. I told them we wanted massages and treatments and I was told just give 24 hour notice. For this reason only I booked the place and drove 45 minutes to beach every morning and then back to beach in the evening. When I arrived I was told no services are available until after August 8th. For this I would have stayed on the beach and not wasted time and gas. Before arriving I also asked for two beds, We arrived to one bes. The lady was very kind and gave me two beds but the room STUNK. The next morning I made then aware that the AC unit is not functioning properly and wreaks of fungus and stool. Nothing was done about this, we had to sweat all night long and I mean sweat, miserable sleep. I was so tired I slept all the way back to Lisbon in the car. The pool is great but no towels and no chairs. Obligated to sit on concrete until someone left. I absolutely love the outdoors. Being from South America I am use to these resorts and when they get it tight, its a perfect stay. I would have loved some spa treatments since I work very hard and really needed that downtime. If they fix those things the resort is a perfect 5. They also need a small vending machine for when you are starving at night. The refrigerator and safe nonfunctional. Due to the stench of fungus we had to leave suitcases in car.

Regarding the double bed and room change, we would be happy to change it as often as necessary if you requested it. AC was on ventilation mode and thus the fact that it was not cold. Great stay - lovely place.
Stayed here for two nights in a garden bungalow room. as part of a long weekend break. We enjoyed the thermal bathes which are situated just a few steps away from the hotel . The gardens and pool area were very relaxed and pretty . There is a nice bar on the site which closes at six which seems a bit strange. Maybe it’s because we’re out of season ? But was a lovely spot for a beer. The breakfast was good with lots of choice.. we did have one issue which the manager sorted very professionally and quickly which we were grateful for. Really lovely place very happy .

This hotel offered an incredible price for all the amenities offered! The thermal waters & hiking in the area were outstanding! Breakfast was unfailingly delicious, including full set of pastries (with infamous pastel do note), eggs, bacon, freshly squeezed OJ & yummy coffee. Highly recommended by a world traveller!

Bad service in a old and unrenovated hotel
Old thermal hotel that need a real renovation in its concept and specially with their local staff that were for 2 days exceptionally and surprisingly unfriendly for Portugal . Rooms are ok , clean and average food mattress . Food is really poor in terms of quality , healthy and creativity . Low cost food !! The infrastructure is old and the maintenance is just made on surface ! Very bad service from the host at the Spa ( Ann) , unfriendly, rude and unpleasant . She made me decide to leave the place on the spot ! Staff of the restaurant t at breakfast we’re not friendly too : pleas Make a change and hire new and young staff ( I did have still some good attendance the night I arrived from the Brazilian staff working there ) . The source and fabric of the Monchique water was definitely not making me dreaming , big disappointment considering I love this water and it’s very healthy. In conclusion : I will not come anymore and can not recommend to anyone to stay there .

Bonne établissement pour faire une halte dans l'arrière pays et un après midi Thalasso. Si le Spa n'est pas tout neuf, il est agréable avec une eau thermal chaude et accès à un hammam et sonna compris pour 10/15 euros par personne. Le petit déjeuner buffet - compris dans le prix de chambre - est diversifié et bon.

Hôtel spa Monchique
Séjour de deux nuits en couple. Hôtel correct , personnel très gentil, serviable, ne parle pas français. Parking facile. Chambre mal insonorisées. Bruits de couloir et nous entendions le voisin ronfler. Literie très bien mais un vieux lit qui fait beaucoup de bruit. Petit déjeuner continental très bien servi avec pas mal de choix. Animaux acceptés avec supplément de 20 EUR la nuit.

Estadia agradável, mas com aspetos a melhorar
Globalmente, o hotel proporciona uma estadia muito agradável. As condições são boas e a envolvente é muito tranquila. Porém, não oferece exatamente o serviço de um 4 estrelas. O quarto é confortável mas um pouco pequeno e com uma casa de banha muito apertada é algo ultrapassada. O aspeto mais negativo, porém, é o serviço de refeições: o pequeno-almoço é satisfatório, mas não mais do que isso (tem pouca variedade, por exemplo, sumos só tem de laranja); e no restaurante e no bar a ementa é reduzida e, mesmo assim, aconteceu com muita frequência não terem os pratos desejados. A piscina e a sua envolvente são ótimas, mas tem o inconveniente de ficar à sombra muito cedo, por ser numa espécie de vale. Em geral, foi uma estadia agradável e repetiria, mas com algumas falhas que não seriam de esperar num 4 estrelas.

Short break on journey through Portugal
We decided to stay in the countryside for one night away from the busy coast. The Hotel is in a lovely natural park setting and has a pretty courtyard and a good size pool with sunbeds in a grassy garden. There is also a bar , restaurant and two shops onsite. Checking in was easy and professional and the room a good size and clean. As this was a night to just chill, after using the pool area which was clean and in good condition for the afternoon, we decided to eat at the restaurant. It was not busy, the service was ok for drinks, although not all on the menu were available. Similar story with food, although a shortish menu, not all available. After a 20-30 minute wait, the food arrived and mine was very nice as was the wine we had, unfortunately my wife's food came out cold, so it had to be sent back, we were told it would be re-done, but after another 20 minutes it had not come back. After more chasing it still did not arrive so we ended p cancelling that meal, very disappointed. The staff did apologise, and we were not charged for the wine and the 1 meal we got, so that was a good attempt to recover the situation. The Breakfast had no similar problems and was good, with a limited but good choice. We would stay again but might eat in the nearby village
