Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this home and there were a number of positives:
Plenty of space for a good size family (we had six people)
Lounging space and bathrooms to spare
Nice view of the mountains
Fireplace (inside) and firepit (outside)
Pool table and foosball table were a plus
Overall location in relation to activities
Of course, there were some challenges (at least for our family). First of all, this is the first rental we have ever had that only provided the bare minimum in terms of things like toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc. When you get the welcome email from the management company, and they say get your supplies before you arrive, think about bringing everything. Also, while the basics are provided in the kitchen, we were surprised by some thing that weren’t (which typically are included). For example, there were no wine glasses, there were no griddles, there were no large pots for pasta or soup, and there were a limited number of cooking implements.
Another thing to be mindful of is that in the descriptions its stated that the house is 25 miles from Brackenridge and located in the mountains. What isn’t stated is that to get to the home, you have to drive a 2+ mile rough, dirt road once you leave the main highway. To get to Breckenridge, you have to go over a mountain, and depending on the weather, it could take more than an hour. So, if you are thinking you will want to go into Breckenridge regularly during your stay, you likely will be a bit challenged by drive.
For some reason the thermostat was constantly reverting back to 50 degrees early in the morning, so we would wake up each morning to a very cold house. Additionally, when we arrived the bottom stove didn’t work, we called the management company, but no one ever came to fix it (could have been because it was Thanksgiving weekend). As it happens, the fireplace downstairs didn’t work either, but it seems that was likely due to the batteries needed changing in the remote control.
We also were challenged by the size of one of the bathrooms (South room, upstairs). I have literally been in airplane bathrooms that were larger.
Lastly, the description of the house sitting on a lot filled with trees is absolutely correct and it is very nice in terms of providing a sense of seclusion. However, near as we can tell, it isn’t a lot that you can let your children run freely around due to the steepness of the lot.
