Easy check in, thought we had a room with a separate bedroom, but didn’t. The staff switched us free of charge, excellent!

I arrived at the hotel and was informed that they were sold out and did not have a reservation. The hotel is blaming Expedia for the error. We will not be staying at this hotel or using Expedia again!

First time staying at a Grand Stay property and we were impressed. The property appears to have been recently renovated and our single queen room/suite was very nice. Having a bedroom (with a door that closes) separate from a sitting area w/ sleeper sofa TV and kitchenette (w/ full size refrigerator, mini- stove, microwave, and dishwasher) is very nice. The bathroom was roomy, the tub/shower had very good water pressure, and the HVAC worked well. The only (minor) complaint would be that the bed comfort was merely average and a little firm. Other minor issues- the weekend breakfast ends at 9AM- a bit too soon for most and a bit soon compared to other hotels. The breakfast was standard and compares to other non-budget hotels (but no fruit was found- maybe we arrived to close to the 9am cut off); the ONLY ice machine we could locate was on first floor at one end meaning if you get a room on 3rd floor opposite end it's a bit of a trek to get some ice. The pool was nice if not a bit small, and the hot tub again nice but with a capacity of 6 also a bit small. There was a noticeable amount of sand in the hot tub, and the pool and hot tub smelled very strongly of chemical/chlorine. Given that our room rate was well under $100 I would definitely stay here again, but room rates vary widely based on demand and we must have found a slow weekend.

Many issues with the stay. Keys would not work in the door to where we had to go down 3 times to try to fix. Broken sofa bed sticking out of the couch. No sheets for the bed--guy at the counter wouldn't bring up so we had to go down to get them. No shampoo or conditioner, broken shower curtain and the shower head was not completely attached to the wall, hanging off. We stayed here a couple of years ago and it was ok. Probably won't be back! Oh and nothing hot for breakfast..there was a couple of muffins out. Nothing else. Not even any fruit.

We like staying at Grandstay because it’s close to campus and connected to Old Chicago but our room this time was horrible. Room was very shabby…Stained carpet, shower curtain rod poorly attached, stained tub, hole in wall behind door. Hallway to old Chicago beat up and trashy looking.

We enjoy the Grandstay because of the amenities in the rooms and the separate bedroom as my husband is an early riser and he can enjoy coffee and TV while I sleep longer. The only issues we had were that there was no TP in the bathroom, but the desk person was quick to help me when I went to get some, and the property could have used another trash can in the kitchen area as there was only a small one in the bathroom. Other than that, the beds were comfortable with four pillows of varying firmness to accommodate our preferences, the room was clean and parking was ample. We enjoyed that Chicago One Pizza was in the complex which made for a nice quick meal after our drive. The location was close to Iowa State University which was the venue for our trip, so we left very pleased.

Our room was in need of repair. Broken furniture, lamp missing bulb, dead bolt lock missing (just a lever that did nothing), grungy walls and windows, one window latch broken. No coffee maker in room. Exit door to parking lot did not lock- card reader looked like it was out of service for a while as card reader was caked with dirt. Pile of cig butts in gravel by door. Hallway dirty and was not vacuumed during our stay. Breakfast was good, staff nice. Just a terrible room. We have stayed before and this was a completely different experience. Makes me wonder if this was the “bargain rate” room as we had a discount rate and used Expedia credits to get the discount.

First, we reserved an accommodation room, When we arrived there were none. When we at room to find it open with the bar lock and the couch bed half opened and unable to close with the cushions on top. Tried to leave to tell clerk but door wouldn't lock so we had to leave someone behind to watch our stuff. Clerk was helpful but next room the keys only work on the 16th try. If you open the refrigerator it slides on the floor towards you. One remote for two TV's. Would not recommend.

They gave me a room that was one bed short of what I reserved for my family of 6. While polite and apologetic, no attempt to rectify mistake was made, other than allowing me to cancel. I was able to get a room at Staybridge Suites last minute and my family had a great experience there.

Our experience at this property was outstanding. The staff was friendly and the hotel was very clean :) I did give a 4 star on property condition because the hot tub was out of service. I understand this was out of their control but was really looking forward to soaking in hot tub this weekend. Other than that everything was great

Well I got a room here and planned on using the hot tub. It was closed and I was never notified of any issues at booking or check in. I even asked how late the pool and hot tub was open. Lots of other hotels in the area to choose from. Probably not here again. The air vents near the ceiling were very dirty. Just thought of the fuzz blowing down all night while sleeping 😞

The front desk person was friendly and helpful. The room was not very clean but the biggest negative was the unknown critter in my room. I am assuming it was a mouse or rat. They gave me a new room but I kept hearing noises all night long so I left all the lights on and didn't get much sleep.

We stayed here for 1 night following a football game. Things started out strange when the couple trying to check-in in front of was told their hotels.com reservation wasn't in their system and basically blamed the 3rd party system (hotels.com). And apparently this was the 3rd time that day they had this problem. I've never heard of this happening before, let alone 3 times in one day. Fortunately, our reservation was in their system. The room itself was okay. We had checked in prior to the game and when we returned after the game there was a random pair of socks on the sofa. We didn't notice this earlier, so this was really strange. Whose socks are they? How did they get there? Our room only had a Queen bed as that was all that was available when we booked. We thought we'd use the pull-out bed so the queen wouldn't be over crowded by 2 adults and a child. The pull-out was awful - wasn't even level. Lights in the bathroom sometimes flickered rapidly. The drain in the tub was broken. And soon after we returned to the room following the game, the keycard reader on the door stopped working. After getting new cards that didn't work, the woman working there told my wife they couldn't fix it and that she would have to let her into the room (EVERY TIME WE NEEDED IN THE ROOM). So now we had to play a game of making sure someone was always in the room so they could let the others back in without needed help from the front desk. The room served it's 1 night purpose - wouldn't stay again.

I would like to start by apologizing that your stay with us was less than perfect. We strive to try an make sure every guests has a excellent stay with us everytime. it is obvious that your stay didn't the expectations we hold for ourselves or the expectations that you, our valued guest, had for us. From time to time issues beyond our control do arise. Once again I do apologize your stay wasn't the experience either of us would have liked, but we would love a chance in the future another chance to show you the experience we want all our guests to have.
