2/10 – Ontzettend slecht

It has taken me a few days to put my thoughts together about my experience. When coming from the airport, my Lyft driver asked if I was serious about staying at the Chelsea. Having never been to Anchorage, I had no idea and said it was probably fine.
Pulling into the parking lot, there were at least 5 cars with people either living in them, or dealing something out of them. I hesitantly walked to the unmarked front door, only to open it to find two people clearly setting up lines of something on the table. I shut the door and walked out. When the door shut, some lady walked up clearly upset that the door had latched. I stood there trying to sort out what was going on. The door reopened and one of the people I'd walked in on said to come on in (this was about 4 minutes later).
The driver, who had stayed to be sure I was safe, asked if I wanted to leave and I asked to be taken somewhere else. As we walked back to the car, another random guy with no teeth and clearly on something (I worked in a recovery agency for years and know the signs) said, "Girl, you don't want to be here. It isn't safe. Especially at night."
Having no luck finding anything in the area, I returned to the airport and slept on the bench. THAT was a safer option. I've never had an experience like that and if there were an option for a negative number of stars, I'd choose that.
Revolting. Unsafe. Unlike anything I've ever seen, and nothing like its promotional materials.
