Nice, clean, centrally located hotel
Great location in the centre of Aqaba. Nice sized room, tiny bathroom, but very clean. Comfortable bed and duvet. A bit noisy from the outside, so actually checked if the window was open, but it wasn’t. Luckily most of the traffic stops rather early, so ok.

We really enjoyed ourselves. Very happy with our good and nicely equipped room. Easily accessible hotel in the center of the city. Near the beautiful beach.. Always helpful staff, very kind. Good breakfast also. We recommend it.

When I arrived the maid was mopping the floor with wet liquid that stunk. The manger told her to set her broom aside and to show us the room !!!! After the horrible reception, we were taken to a college kids dorm style room with poor quality furniture that matches their one person reception staff attitude !!! The room stunk so bad that we left right away ... when I approached the reception woman, she angrily said, sorry you can't handle the smell, I'm still going to charge you the booking amount !!! Horrible, terrible experience and in a run down area with rude, angry staff. Save yourself the humility and headache I had and find another place.

In a few words; this hotel needs a lot of renovations. AC doesn't work probably, floor is torn up, furniture is old and outdated, even TV reception is horrible. It was nice that they provide a free breakfast but even that wasn't impressive.

Starting with the cleanliness the room is not clean and being old makes it the worse the elevator is so old with the door banging with big noise every time it closes + the TV channels are few & not clear

The hotel is not international standard. Rooms were not ready for check-in even at 8pm, the property was generally not cleaned properly and breakfast was of poor quality. Not somewhere we would stay in the future.

I was disappointed with my stay at the Golden Tulip in Aqaba. I have stayed at Golden Tulips in the Netherlands and expected more from this company. The condition of the hotel is deteriorating and maintenance is not up to specs. It looks like this was a nice hotel at one time but it is past time to renew it. A few examples of the room I stayed in, 1) the towels were very worn although clean. 2) the bedding was worn out but clean. 3) The safety lock on the inside of the door was broken. 4) A piece of tissue was rolled up and stuck in the peep hole on the door. 5) There was a water leak on the floor from the toilet. 6) There were large burned spots on the floor and on the table top. 7) The mattress was so worn, I could feel the bed springs. 8) The hair dryer did not work. Now, let me try to give a couple of positive points. The room was clean despite its condition and the price was low comparatively to major chains in Aqaba. However I cannot recommend this hotel.

Decent budget hotel for travelers on tight budgets
The night staff was excellent. He provided extra blankets on demand and gave me a wake-up call at 5:30 a.m. The morning attendant did his best to be helpful. I had to wait about five minutes for the system to upload some data before I can get a receipt in the morning, but no big deal. After checking out early in the morning, I left my belongings at the hotel and returned for them at 11:00 a.m. without a glitch. Good location; good price.

You're paying for location.
This was an average hotel in an ideal location that was trying to be something it wasn't. Showers weren't hot, staff helpfulness ranged from helpful to useless, and the lights seem to always dimmed to an evening parlor setting. Bed was comfortable thankfully, and location was ideal. But for the price there are other options.

Once in a lifetime trip; complete disappointment.
Hotel didn't have the "Superior" King Bedroom that Expedia.com reserved. This was the initial and foreshadowing indication of my overnight stay at the Golden Tulip. This was also what bothered me the most. If Expedia.com had shown an accurate rate/vacancy for this hotel, then I would have looked elsewhere for the night. The site led me to the place where I spent a horrible night in Aqaba, Jordan; a city I will probably never have a chance to visit again.

Obwohl fast leer: downgrade. Erste Nacht in dreckigem & zu kleinem Zimmer. 1 Tasse hatte Lippenstiftreste, 1 gekautes Kaugummi klebte im Glas, im Waschbecken Haare, im Bett Flecken, Rostlöcher in der Wanne, Boden klebrig, Klimaanlage laut & kaputt, Minibar leer & Kühlschrank völlig verschmutzt. Nächster Tag: neues Zimmer. Dieses hatten wir ursprünglich gebucht. Den Namen "Superior" hat nur die Größe verdient. Wie im 1. Zimmer Lage zur Straße mit 24h Bar, die bis 3h nachts die Musik aufdreht.Man kann nicht bei offenem Fenster schlafen, die alte Klimaanlage war im neuen Zimmer etwas besser aber unzureichend. Das Bad 'sauber', Boden nicht. Mit einem Wasserabzieher & einem Eimer hochdosiertem Seifenwasser wird die ganze Etage geputzt (wir waren Augenzeugen), wodurch sich ein seifig-schmutziger Film bildet & man nicht barfuß gehen kann. Über der Badewanne ein Wasserfleck, Inventar im gesamten Zimmer abgenutzt. Frühstücksbuffet lecker & für die Anzahl der Gäste überraschend vielseitig. Im Speisesaal wurde geraucht, ich weiß nicht ob es nicht bemerkt wurde oder gestattet ist. Pool klein aber sauber. Daneben ein paar alte Plastikstühle. Das Cafe ist recht gemütlich, draußen kann man nett sitzen, Tawla spielen und Tee trinken. Leider wird in Aqaba viel gebettelt, so wird man an einem Abend mindestens einmal um Geld gebeten. Wir blieben 4 Tage in Aqaba, was sich wirklich nicht lohnt. 1-2 Tage reichen.

Golden Tulip, Good for the price if booked here
I got a room for 3 and the room was nice booked through expedia. The area surrounding the hotel is a little shabby but the staff does their best to be hospitable and welcoming. They let me bring food in so that was a big plus and if you know Jordan... Liquor is crazy expensive but the bar at the golden tulip has some pretty good deals comparatively. It's also 2 minutes walking distance from double tree hotel and 5 minutes from the public beach. They have beach trip deals that include boat riding and scuba diving that are pretty good prices. A trip out on the boat with diving and a meal included, also if you JUST want to go to the private beach they'll take you for a small fee that including the entrance fee. Which is good considering its a 15 minute taxi ride and the entrance fee is kind of expensive. Again, the staff was pretty cool... they put on karaoke for me and my friends and tried to teach us Dubka dancing!

All around a good spot
Hotel was nice, maybe a 3 - 3+ star. Check in was quick. Room was nice enough, air conditioner didn't work. They sent someone up at 10pm, and said I could wait to get it fixed the next day or move rooms, but it would take an hour to get another room?? ANyway, surprised them by wanting another room, but had to follow up with the desk after an hour. Had to also get the key downstairs and move our bags, was not really expecting that from a 4 star. But restaurant for breakfast was good, pool seemed fine, location was decent as well. Couple of dive shops around the corner. Some restaurants across the street were popular, cheap, nice spot for a sheesha. Rooms were quite as well. So yeah it was pretty good, but wasn't cheap.

I booked this hotel because it was affordable and seemed to be in a central location. It can be tough to locate - because the street its located on appears to be a parking lot at first. The rooms are wonderful-- and we were given a free upgrade! We had a rooftop room - where we were able to step out and see the Red Sea from our balcony! The only draw backs were that the elevator was down and the hotel food was not that appealing. (It was a buffet- and I would not recommend it.) Aqaba is a beautiful city and extremely underrated. its affordable- this hotel places you in a comfortable, safe, and convenient part of the city. You feel like you have a 4 or 5 star place- while paying for a 2 star.

great hotel Theres even a mimicing parrot when you enter the charming hotel. The staff were excellent asking every inquiry with efficiency and thoroughness The value is good for I had a suite on the top floor and I watched the sunset nightly. There is so much to do in Aqaba Me for example I explored wadi rum, pharoaph island jet ski ans an underwater submarine exhbiting all types of marine life

NEVER STAY HERE!
The staff are rude to foreigners, especially if you are not Muslim. The rooms are sub-standard and in poor repair. There is a lot of noise due to hotel remodeling. This is about a 2 star hotel and definitely no where close to a 4 star. I would never stay at this hotel or any other owned by Golden Tulip.

Wenn es kein Strandresort sein muss
In Aqaba gibt es teure Hotels der großen Ketten, die sicher mehr Komfort und Luxus bieten. Wenn es aber ein ordentliches Hotel ohne großen Schnick-Schnack sein soll, ist das Golden Tulip genau richtig. Das Superior-Zimmer hatte alle Annehmlichkeiten, die man braucht (Minibar, TV etc). DAs Hotel ist ordentlichem aber auch nicht auf dem allerneuesten Stand (06/2009). Die Lage ist sehr gut inmitten des Ortes, in Fußweite ist alles (öffentlicher Strand, McDonalds, Supermarkt ...) zu erreichen. Im Grunde ist es ein Stadthotel, wenn es mehr das Strandfeeling sein soll, dann ist es nicht zu empfehlen.
