We arrived late after spending an hour and a half trying to find the obscure tiny street on which l'Hotel Particulier resides, which no one in Arles seemed to have heard of. By then, most restaurants were closed but the incredibly obliging night staff upgraded our room and provided a delicious, if novel, dinner from the eccentric room service menu: including smoked salmon tidbits and truffled mash potatoes! All in all the hotel was an oasis of grace and calm in a charming ancient city, its garden a green and white delight, despite the fact that it's tempting pool--which staff claimed was heated--felt a bit chilly. When one of us needed a doctor, the staff swiftly obliged and we left with only happy memories, wishing we could have stayed longer.
