Villa Agave is all about slowing down and enjoying life.
Take a deep breath of fresh air and the scents of nature, read a book in the shade of the trees, cool off in the pool, or just soak in the peaceful views. Plan your day trips to Athens’ museums, pick your favourite beach or diving spot nearby, and end the day grilling fresh fish on the BBQ—choose between wood or gas, whichever you prefer.
Sip on our homemade wines, feel cozy by the fireplace in winter, or enjoy your meals outside on one of the garden terraces—under the pergola or the big pine tree. And when it's time to rest, sink into our comfy anatomic mattresses and pillows for a good night’s sleep.
Whether you're looking for peace and quiet, nature and sea, or a cozy base to explore Athens and beyond, Villa Agave is here to welcome you. We’ll be happy to share local tips, good food, activities in the area (diving or sailing club, yachting experiences, archeological sites, open air cinemas and a few of our favorite hidden gems.
If you’re into history, this is the perfect base to explore some of Greece’s most iconic archaeological sites and museums, as well as discovering the downtown Athens neighborhoods.
The best time to visit is in the cooler months November to May —when the weather is ideal for walking and exploring (https://www.discovergreece.com/travel-ideas/cover-story/neighbourhood-tour-athens).
Start nearby Porto-Rafti, with the Temple of Artemis in Vravrona (https://archaeologicalmuseums.gr/en/museum/5df34af3deca5e2d79e8c189/archaeological-museum-of-vravrona), just a 10-minute drive from Villa-Agave.
Then head into Athens for the world-renowned National Archaeological Museum (https://www.namuseum.gr/en/),
and the stunning Acropolis Museum (https://www.theacropolismuseum.gr/en), which is soon expected to welcome back the Parthenon Marbles from London—a truly historic moment!
Come as guests—leave as friends.
While we, your hosts Marie and Stelios, are based in Belgium and unfortunately cannot meet you in person, we are committed to ensuring your stay is as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Before your arrival, our dear friend Petra will contact you to arrange everything you need to tailor your stay to your liking. Petra will be there to welcome you upon arrival and provide a thorough explanation of the house and garden. Throughout your stay, she will be available to assist with anything you may need.
Petra is supported by a wonderful team:
Aristotelis takes care of the pool and garden furniture.
Christos is responsible for maintaining the garden.
Anna ensures the house is clean and tidy.
We would be delighted to receive your feedback and reviews after your stay. If you have any pictures from your time at Villa-Agave that you'd like to share, we would love to see them!
Our hearts belong to the sea and its underwater world, the fresh air, healthy food, nature, and the peaceful vibe of Porto Rafti. We spend about five months a year here, soaking it all in.
If you’re like us and enjoy a little foraging adventure, we’d be happy to show you where to find wild asparagus in February–March (they’re amazing lightly fried in olive oil with a splash of fresh lemon from our own tree!) or wild mushrooms in November–December (perfect grilled with oregano and rosemary from the garden).
And if you’re up for something really special, how about collecting your own sea urchins between April and June? We’ll show you where to find them (you can take up to 10 per group), how to clean them, and how to serve their eggs—either simply with olive oil and lemon, or on top of pasta. It’s a unique and delicious experience!
And of course, we’ll let you in on the best seafood taverna in Attica. Our friend Kostas and his team in Chamolia will treat you to the freshest seasonal seafood and vegetables around. You’re in good hands!
Villa Agave is tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood on the edge of Porto Rafti, surrounded by just a few homes in an officially protected natural area.
The Athens airport is just a 20-minute drive, and the sea is only a 10-minute walk away. Want to explore the city? Athens’ historic center—with all its ancient treasures and lively charm—is just 45 minutes by car, or about an hour by metro.
Here’s what you can expect throughout the year:
September – November
Mild and sunny, with temperatures between 20 –30°C. The sea stays inviting, from 23°C in September to about 20°C in November. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or diving in crystal-clear waters full of life.
December – March
Daytime temperatures hover between 10–20°C, and you still get over 120 hours of sunshine each month. The sea cools slightly (15–18°C), but the skies put on a daily show—clouds in all shapes and colors dancing with the sunlight. It’s peaceful, fresh, and perfect for unwinding.
April – May
Nature wakes up in full force. Temperatures rise to 20–30°C, with 250–300 hours of sunshine a month. The sea warms up quickly (from 16°C to 20°C), flowers are blooming everywhere, the scents are amazing, and the beaches, hiking trails, and museums are still wonderfully uncrowded.
June-August
The Mediterranean summer in full swing—don’t expect a drop of rain, and most likely not even a single cloud in the sky.
Daytime temperatures range from 30–40°C, while the evenings (15–25°C) bring just enough coolness to relax, unwind, and count the stars overhead.
The sea stays beautifully warm at 21–25°C, and the underwater world is alive and thriving—perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or diving.
Friendly summer winds often breeze through, so it’s best to use the gas barbecue for your grilled fish feasts under the blue sky.
