Voor UK begrippen geen goed hotel
Voor UK begrippen een goed hotel, het is meer voor families bedoeld dan voor zakenreizigers. Het is onderdeel van een groter complex, schuin ervoor ligt nog het Macdonald Morlich Hotel dat in nagenoeg alle opzichten hetzelfde is. Inchecken duurde te lang, er stond een rij voor de receptie zonder personeel. Na 5 minuten wachter dan toch... verder goed geholpen. Het is een vrij groot hotel en had moeite de weg te vinden, zoveel branddeuren, trapjes, en lange gangen. Als je 2 keer moet vragen waar je bent en waar de uitgang is ervaar ik dat als minpunt. De kamer grote is normaal, er staat een goed bed en bureau, verder is er oploskoffie en een waterkoker beschikbaar. De badkamer was iets krapper, maar verder schoon en modern. De douchekop krijgt het label extreem water besparend, misschien goed voor het hotel (en milieu) maar fijn douchen is anders. Internet is stabiel en snel genoeg. Het ontbijt was redelijk. Het hotel heeft een restaurant, daarnaast zijn op loopafstand alternatieve eetgelegenheden te vinden in het dorpje Aviemore, net als een supermarket. Een (familie-)zwembad bevind zich in een apart gebouw dat voor gasten uit meerdere hotels vrij toegankelijk is. Er is zelf een sauna en dampsauna, een spa wil ik het zeker niet noemen. De omgeving is schitterend als je van wandelen en natuur houdt.

Disappointed.
For a MacDonalds hotel I was quite disappointed. The room was small, required a freshen up of the decor. Breakfast was fine and staff were friendly. But I would not stay again. Didn’t use the pool facilities so can’t comment.

Disappointed
Old hotel, room very dark, lack of power socked next to bed very disappointing. Some customers require this. Breakfast low quality, little slice of butter for family of four. We had to ask for more. Baked beans terrible, the same with becon and sausages. Mushrooms ok and fried eggs. Overall acceptable but not encouraging to come back.

Low expectations but still disappointed
Dissinterested reception staff who struggle to use the reservation system. Bed wasn't fully made on arrival, and there was no mention of the jacuzzi being out of order even when directions were requested. Pool area dirty. Only some tv channels have sound, bizarrely. Poor quality breakfast. Restaurant serving staff were good however and the bed was comfortable.

The property needs some refurb although large do understand it takes time. Dinner was delicious but breakfast was not good. Poor selection of vegetarian.

On arrival room was not available. Whilst waiting saw many other guests checking in. When able to check in my details on the book in sheet were totally wrong. The person dealing with me was still in training so this didn't help. Room is well equipped and toilet was in good repair. Sadly don't believe the room price was good value. Sadly since Covid many hotels are trying to recoup losses so prices go up and down depending on demand

Hotel staff were really lovely and breakfast was excellent however the hotel is really run down and in need of an upgrade, it didn't feel like a luxury get away, felt very budget even lacked the basics like peppermint tea

The reception staff were very friendly as were staff in Activity centres.,As for the restaurant, words fail me . In the 21st century we were refused entry to restaurant, being told we could sit well away from rest of diners in a lounge area . The reason being my daughter had a guide dog . It was humiliating and embarrassing and having to get a manager to explain to his abysmally trained staff about the rights of guide dog owners being allowed access to any public space , totally ruined our stay . We were challenged again at breakfast and the funny thing was another guest had a pet dog with her . Overall an awful experience and to say food in restaurant was good ? We asked for a curry and we were given what looked like a bowl of rice with a few bits thrown in . It was almost inedible and a total waste of money , also very expensive . Have stayed in Aviemore many times and have loved it . This experience was unbelievable, we were treated like second class citizens and everything was grudgingly allowed . I never want to go back to that hotel again . The staff are poorly trained and the quality of service is reflected in this . It is a shame as the resort itself has a lot to offer . The management need to take a long hard look and improve things . It is not a cheap place to stay and could be so much better

A few issues with the room were dealt with by maintenance promptly. Check in was friendly and helpful. Room was small, bathroom had virtually no storage for our toiletries but walk in shower was lovely and Elemis complimentary bits were nice. Corridors were a bit drab and dull, letting the place down. Having had the option to upgrade our room and not doing so, knowing what we know now, we would have taken the upgrade option to a bigger room.

Dark, Dingy, Dirty & Overpriced
The room was dark and dingy, it had no light on the ceiling only 3 dim lamps. The room was not clean, the carpet looked like it had not seen a vacuum in a long time, there was cobwebs all over, stains on some of the bed pillows and furniture and walls and the wood blinds were covered in dust. The breakfast was OK but overpriced in my opinion. Only good part really was the pool, but the jacuzzi was not working and all the facilities close at 6pm which is a bit early. Overall it is overpriced and was not really a pleasant stay.

The rooms are quite dated and DARK. everything is just dark in the hotel.. the lobby, the rooms .. even with all the lights switched on .. it looks a very very dated property. The restaurant is quite expensive.. for what they offer.. the staff though are quite pleasing, helpful and are always running around to keep the place going .. no complaints there.. the property can do with a makeover.. not staying again until the rooms are redone.. Not at all value for money .. for what they charge and the state of the rooms

The staff there act as if they have given me the room for free and they have courtesy to make us leave the restaurant even after seating saying it's closed. Paid for dinner as part of hotel reservation and during check-in no one cared to mention that restaurants in the resort have to be reserved. One restaurant made us leave saying they are too busy and another refused to serve saying we are 8 mins late. I recommend stay away and look for a good place to stay. I am a Marriott guy and traveled lot of countries and never seen this kind of unfair treatment.

Overall property wasnt bad but for the price I expected more. There were some issues with the phone not working and being unable to call reception. The bathroom was very dangerous due to slippery surfaces. Bedding was nice but the beds were not comfortable and the doors in the hallways were very loud and squeaky which could be heard clearly from the room. It was fine for the one night we stayed while exploring the Highland Park but it would not have been restful if we had stayed longer.

Very disappointed
I wasted a lot of money on what I thought was a class hotel. The building is run down and the rooms/bathrooms are in a poor state, in need of renovation. We arrived and outside our room was a heap of dirty bedsheets which were not removed until I phoned hours later. The mattress was sagging and had zero springs. There is no fridge despite being a family room. There is no cleaning service! After much discussion with the management about how much pain my back was in and the low level of hospitality, Alex the deputy manager moved us to a better room. The other staff don’t even say hello and the leisure staff at the pool made it near impossible to gain entry. It was only a weekend stay and marred by so many issues, mainly that it is overpriced and not value for money. The staff obviously have issues and this is reflected in their service. Besides Alex, not a single staff member tried to actually help us. I would not recommend this hotel; terribly disappointing.

We had a great time at the hotel. The hotel was beautiful however the room was slightly outdated but was extremely clean and comfortable. All of the hotel staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was really good too.

At the price of these rooms I’d expect for example; bath towels rather than just two hand towels. Particularly as I only discovered the shortage on getting out of shower! Breakfast was good but missing several items for example beans, jam as the hotel had run out.

Aviemore stay Feb 2023
We enjoyed our stay in Aviemore. The hotel itself though is starting to look slightly tired and dated. Staff were pleasant and the breakfast was enjoyable. I do however have the say the alcohol was very expensive. To charge £6.50 for a single of Disaronno when a full bottle costs not much more than £12 is daylight robbery!

Great hotel room hygiene not great.
Stayed many times and children love it. Was disappointed though this time when we turned up that the hygiene in the room was not as per normal standards. Despite checking in early the staff were not able to change us to another room to allow though cleaning of the room to remove a very unpleasant odour. The staff did try to remove/mask the smell with ozone machine and air freshener. But only lasted a short while, and made the tripe time in the room unenjoyable for for the entire trip due to what smelt like vomit.
