    . Dit 16e-eeuwse monumentale huisje met een rieten dak ligt verscholen in een zeer rustige landweg. Het pand is een van een paar en is volledig gerenoveerd en biedt enkele originele kenmerken, waaronder een openhaard, balken, historische broodoven en ook zeer eigentijdse accenten voor de hedendaagse levensstijl.
    Het pand is ingericht en ingericht naar een zeer hoge standaard, gelegen naast de eigenaar, maar met een zeer privé-instelling. Aan de onderkant van de baan is een riviertje met een doorwaadbare plaats naar de velden en er is geen doorgaand verkeer. Het ligt dicht bij Axminster, een onbedorven marktstadje in Devon, gelegen aan de rivier de Axe, omringd door een prachtig landschap en vol charme en karakter. Deze aantrekkelijke marktstad ligt in de prachtige Axe-vallei, een gebied met uitzonderlijke natuurlijke schoonheid, met schilderachtige dorpjes en ongerepte natuur. Beroemd om zijn tapijten, de oorspronkelijke Axminster fabriek werd in 1755 geopend door Thomas Whitty en authentieke Britse 'Axminsters' worden nog steeds gemaakt in de stad door Axminster Carpets. Het bevindt zich op een paar kilometer landinwaarts van de Jurassic Coast en gasten kunnen steden bezoeken zoals Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth en Seaton met zijn beroemde tram.

    Axminster, verscholen in de zuidoostelijke hoek van Devon, is een ideaal toeristisch centrum voor de naburige provincies Somerset en Dorset, met Lyme Regis en Charmouth op slechts 6 mijl afstand.

    Celebrity chef-kok en tv-presentator Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall heeft hier zijn eerste River Cottage Canteen en Deli (een biologische producten winkel / markt en kantine), en zijn River Cottage HQ is vlakbij in de Ax-vallei. Er zijn veel plaatsen om te bezoeken in de buurt, waaronder veel NT-eigenschappen. Dit is een ideale plek om te wandelen met een voetpad in de buurt van de accommodatie. De Yarty-vallei is een zeer rustige omgeving en ideaal voor vogels kijken, fietsen over de landweggetjes of gewoon ontspannen op het terras met uitzicht op de rivier. Winkel en pub / restaurant 2 mijl (1 mijl via voetpad).

    Er zijn steile trappen naar de 1e verdieping en balken door het hele gebouw. Natuurlijke watervoorziening uit een boorgat. Er is een niet-omheinde rivier in de buurt. Maximaal één hond.

Stunning cottage

We had a 4 night stay in this gorgeous property. From the moment we walked through the door we fell in love with the place. It felt very homely, comfortable and beautifully presented. The upstairs was lovely and spacious. An amazing kitchen/dining room with everything we needed and more. We were greeted with an array treats and essentials, which was such a lovely suprise and very well received by all of us. We couldnt have found a better place to stay.

We could not have wished for a more beautiful place to stay! This cottage is a real gem and be rest assured, you will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. The location is rural with fantastic dog walks on your doorstep. The cottage itself is stunning, well appointed, and equipped with everything you could need for a break away. We stayed over Xmas and Sue and John had left a lovely welcome package of fresh bread, milk, mince pies, prosecco and even crackers and a festive table cloth. The beds are superbly comfortable and delightful in style. The kitchen is a dream and the lounge has a gorgeous log burner that kept us cosy all week. The cottage only has freeview TV if you’re expecting more (we didn’t mind at all) and the WiFi isn’t great, which was actually a relief in the end! John replenished the log bag as we needed and at a fair cost. Fresh eggs were provided at £1 per dozen as we needed them and for any other shopping needs, Millers Farm Shop is minutes away and highly recommended. Axminster town centre is only a few miles away with a decent size Tesco and other shopping too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.. possibly in Summer to take advantage of the fishing! :) Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Wonderful, relaxing country retreat where the owners have thought of everything to make our stay easy and comfortable. This is a beautiful old house, sympathetically renovated so you get the best of both worlds. And a touch of luxury with a cook’s kitchen, comfy big beds and sumptuous bathrooms. The TV is smaller and more basic in quality than we’re used to, but that didn’t matter. We enjoyed a glass of rose in the garden looking out on the chickens and countryside beyond. Fantastic night skies for star gazing with our telescope. We even saw Jupiter, Saturn and the Milky Way. Highlights are stunning dog walks by the river and walking to Miller’s farm shop. Fish and Chips at Beer and Eype. A game of ping pong or two; great for our young teenager. Thank you for looking after us and to Molly the Colly for keeping us company. Stayed with friends and our dog at the beginning of November. Is a tough cottage to find, and the roads are a bit frightening, but the reward is never to be forgotten ! The cottage has been thoughtfully and beautifully renovated, every detail has been attended to and no expense spared. The kitchen is massive and everything is there, underfloor heating this time of year is frankly genius ! The stairs are steep and I would worry about infirm/young people, but they are only short at least. The bedrooms are big, the en suites excellent and again everything has been thought of, comfortable mattresses and pillows with plenty of wardrobe space too. Lovely comfortable living room with an extremely efficient wood burner, also probably the cleanest ! Outside space in the garden not huge and quite a slope up to the parking area, but nice to have a covered 2 space area in The Cider barn. Surroundings are great, as is the farmshop Millers, only 1 mile away, but I would have gone there everyday as the food quality and wine choice are truly awesome ! A great place to unwind, thank you

Utterly blown away by this cottage and all the family loved it.

Utterly blown away by this cottage and all the family loved it. It was exceptionally clean with every utensil needed for cooking - which made my role as chief cook a delight to undertake. The underfloor heating was heaven as I hate slippers and thus I spent most of my time dancing on the warm floors! The owners very kindly left some fabulous goodies which were all yummy 😋 The chickens were so cute and I found myself visiting them several times a day! Like everything else in the cottage, the bedrooms were tastefully and beautifully furnished and the beds and pillows were so sumptuous.Good use of the games, books and dvds were made - an excellent selection for all to enjoy. I have stayed at some beautiful and unique cottages over the years and I am delighted to say that The Farmhouse is unequivocally in my top three favourites. Enormous thanks to the Sue and John, the owners, for their thoughtful planning and exquisite taste and being so approachable and helpful.

Great location with relatively easy access to a host of holiday locations within 3 counties as well as being hidden away within lovely Devon countryside. The cottage is very well presented with a wide range of comforts and plenty of space for outside activity or relaxing within. The owners, who live next door, were very welcoming and discrete. Very happy to recommend this cottage and we will hopefully return as some stage soon.
